That didn't bother me and if they were gonna do another Superman origin it was right to do something different. I do think Superman Earth One is like a bit like marmite. It's strange because I didn't like it when I first read it but have read it several times since then and it's definitely one of my favourite Superman origin stories. I actually think people will appreciate it more once there's like a full collection of Superman Earth One books out cause there's a lot if unanswered questions from the first book that I'm hoping he tackles in the third.

True, I can agree with that, though on a shallow note, I'm still glad that we're seemingly not getting a full translation of the Earth One personality into MOS's Clark/Superman.lol

I prefer the first two Raimi films as well.
I dont go over to the Spider Man boards because of the contempt they show Raimi there .

They were fantastic, 2 of the best CBMs ever made.

Absolutely. Spider-Man 1 & 2 are benchmark films even to this day.

They're in the superhero masterpiece cabinet for me personally.

So as some of you can remember, when the BBFC classified the 3rd trailer they also classified another, 2:28 long one (which is not the second one, thats 2:21 on the BBFC) on the same day. Well now they've rated the 3D version of the new trailer and yet again a 3D version of this other trailer which is now 2:30. http://www.bbfc.co.uk/releases/man-steel-2013-4 So I wonder why that is? Do some British theaters not play 3 minute long trailers and this 2:30 is simply a shorter cut or do you think this will be a slightly different international trailer? Because no other site has any new trailers rated so It just all seems a bit weird to me.

Since we're getting onto the subject, I was wondering this the other day. What is an 'international trailer'? Sure the clue is in the title, but aren't all trailers international?

I don't know either... I'm in Australia when SR was coming out, they played the first theatrical (domestic) trailer... Which disappointed me a little, because the international one was better.

International pretty much referres to the non-North american audience.

For example, Star Trek Into Darkness has a Int.'l trailer which IS NOT screening in North American theaters but is screening everywhere else around the world.

MOS has the potential to be in the top 2 of CB films, dislodging either TDK or Superman 78 in my eyes.

That is usually the reason. To use Star Trek as an example again, the Int.'l trailer is more focused on epic destruction and disaster than actually being Trek, the domestic trailers have been more focused on Kirk and the crew. It's usually done to cater to ALL demographics.

Naw. It cannot dislodge '78 Superman. That Superman was a product of its time and the kind of hype & excitement it generated before and long after the end of it theatrical run will be unmatched with a few exceptions like Star Wars/ESB/ROTJ. Also Superman '78 carried certain charms that most movie these day will not be able to replicate - see Christopher Reeve's.

It's very dated in a lot of ways and believe it or not but there are a lot of Superman fans that aren't exactly huge fans of it. Also, Christopher Reeve, as brilliant as he was (and he made S:TM truly work, if they got anyone lesser the film would suffer greatly for it) is not the be-all and end-all of Superman.

Shannon is more than capable of matching Ledger's performance (even with Zod not being as in-your-face theatrical villain as The Joker is), but it depends on the script of course. Funny thing, I think Shannon would have made an amazing Joker as well. I thought so ever since I saw him in The Runaways.

Oh it's definitely subjective and dependent on one's taste. I just think that Superman '78 falls into that genre of so called "classic". It is after all still showing almost every December - highly watchable family fare.

I have no worries about Shannon, it just depend on the materials that he has to work with. I wouldn't swap him for Ledger any day since Ledger made Joker as his unique take.
