MOS being a masterpiece won't make S:TM any less great. If anything, it will PROVE how adaptable and meaningful Superman is across various generations and incarnations. It will signify that the character is bigger than any one franchise, and that Superman is capable of breaking new ground yet again. This isn't like Burton vs Nolan. This is like Bond vs Bond. ;)

Jim Lee was on CBS' 'The Couch' talking about Superman's 75th anniversary, free comic book day and Man of Steel, he gave his thoughts on the film.

"It's an amazing movie. I have seen it."

"It's epic, it's got a lot of heart. One of the things I was missing from the last Superman movie I think was the action and this movie has it in spades. It is a visual thrillride, it is amazing. You get to see all the powers of Superman in all it's glory and I think people are going to be blown away."

That quote actually bothers me a bit.
He talked more about the visuals and the action than anything.

What did you expect him to say on a show like that?

An in-depth analysis talking about the themes and allegories in the film...?

Does the second round of the NBA Playoffs begin tonight? Possibly a new spot?

We got a game 7 tonight. Then the second round begins tomorrow. I wouldnt be surprised if we do get one tonight because its a huge game between Chicago and Brooklyn.

Actually It's exactly like that, When Batman 89 came out it took over the world, no one ever thought it would ever be that great again, then TDK came out and proved it. Even if you can say either one is better than the other you can't deny the impact either one had.

Which is why I find it so sad that a lot of spidey fans like to crap on the first Raimi film (because it was the biggest movie event ever at the time) in order to big up the new one as if people DIDN'T go insane back in 2002.

probably because that's what every superman film thus far has been lacking in, so it's nice to get an action packed superman film for once, he also said it had a lot of heart. and you can't expect everyone to give a super detailed review when asked about the film. take a positive review as positive, no negatives were given, take that as a good sign.

So tomorrow is a more likely bet for a new spot. Unless tonight's game is big, is it?

But he said it had a lot of heart and that means a lot.

Does it really mean that much? As technically gifted as Lee is, the biggest thing I'd say that is missing from his art is heart. His work always looks so sterile. So I don't know how great a judge of whether something has "heart" or magic.

Only on the hype can you look at Jim Lee's quote and go "Oh boy...he's just talking about the action a lot, this worries me that it will be another mindless blockbuster, damn that snyder with his style and no substance"

Never change hype...never change.

So, a lot more viewers than the previous games? Would be a good idea to air the spot there then.

Yeah, it would be a great time to release a spot. Its primetime, its a game 7, and Chicago and Brooklyn are playing.

Jim Lee approved? Nice.

He's releasing Superman Unchained with the other Snyder on the same week. Something tells me its in his best interest that Man of Steel does well :funny:

I do take it as a good sign but I guess we all have different things we want from the film
I would also like to hear these same types of things from people that have no Professional connection to Superman .

That's the kind of thing that I am talking about in my quote above .

I actually read Birthright finally for the first time last night (haven't slept in over 24 hours straight :wow:) and it was a breathtaking read. I loved the idea of Clark/Superman being able to see through different spectrums, especially lifeforce, because to me that made Clark almost a better man than he already was before. The Kryptonian meaning for the symbol as "hope", Kobe Asuru educating Clark on honoring your forebears, it was a really, really well done story all around.

I agree, though I feel that towards the latter half it got pretty sloppy, especially with [BLACKOUT]the 'holograms as the final threat' thing[/BLACKOUT]. But I love the Africa part. It's a shame we won't get to see stuff like this in MOS:

He is an artist...he sees the world through his particular lens.

Superman comics will sell or not sell independent of the movies...or did sales drop after Superman Returns?

I don't think sales of comics will drop if MoS is bad, but I think there is a chance they might increase if it's great.

Irrelevant, he's releasing a superman title the week Man of Steel comes out, you honestly think DC won't push new readers to buy a new Superman comic during the Man of Steel buzz? It's called captialising, and it's a smart move on their part.
