I wonder if the film >>>. Digital people have seen Deakins' work on Skyfall.

Oh don't get me wrong, when used right, Digital can look amazing. Deakins is my favorite DP of all time and Skyfall is without question the most gorgeous looking Bond movie ever and every David Fincher film since Zodiac has been filmed digitally and have looked amazing.

Yep.

More bronze age than silver age. Silver age Superman was sneezing solar systems into oblivion and towing hundreds of planets on a chain, while bronze age Superman could only move one planet at a time and with a lot of effort. And post crisis Superman can fly into a star. It's called sun dipping and he did it at the end of the Our Worlds at War story arc in order to supercharge himself.
It been so long that I couldn't remember and had these two mixed up - I used to collect comics in the '70s, so bound to have overlap between Silver and Bronze Age Superman. If you're referring to Donner's Superman influence, I think that it was a mixture of these two ages, especially with the inclusion of Kryptonians like Zod and Ursa (based on Faora), both leftovers of '60s Superman characters.

Iron Man 3 was shot on the Arri Alexa and it looked completely filmic. We are at a point where certain high end cameras are as good as 35mm film. it won't be long before digital crosses the bridge over into being totally superior. It's already got a huge leg up on the monetary side of things.

I remember watching an interview where Tarantino was considering "retiring" because digital is crossing over, and he doesn't like to shoot digitally.

"hardly matters" is a bit harsh I think. even with digital color correction you can definitely feel and see that it's shot on film imo. and I'm not one who prefers one over the other per se.

with the grandness and suggestive feel of of the imagery and the very dynamic camera work, i'm glad they went with film, it think it fits better and is more effective in this case

You assume Tarantino will do what he says. The man is a brilliant filmmaker and a brilliant liar. Besides, he is being silly anyways when some of the world's top filmmakers have converted. When Roger Freakin Deakins says digital is superior to film, you listen.

I don't think either is superior to the other per se, it's all about how and where it is used imo.

I mean, i don't think Tarantino is really going to retire. I just thought it was interesting how against filming in digital he sounded.

Perhaps it was. But his films are already layered with so much digital I wonder what would be lost if he makes the final transition.

I don't see the correlation between dynamic camera work and film, but whatever. Just know that the film shot Bourne Ultimatum and the digitally shot the Green Zone seemed the same level of 'dynamic' regardless of what it was shot on.

Another day. Another incredible image from MOS.

On a side note, the new issue of EW gives box office predictions for the big summer films. They predict 325 domestic for MOS.

yeah, I'm not saying it makes something more or less dynamic, just that to me it feels and fits better with that style, when done right of course.

As I said in my rant about how much I hate 3D I'm A-okay with digital. I think it looks great now, when Michael Mann and Steven Soderberg aren't misusing it.

That's my prediction.

I believe Man Of Steel will break 1 Billion worldwide.
