All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - Part 66

Sure It was disastrous Kara but what about the other hundred exploratory teams?what happened to them that made Krypton so terrified of space travel that theyd effectively give of the chance to be gods?

Guess we'll have to wait and see but I still think the politics of Krypton society are not what they used to be, and that would halt progress. Maybe a lot of infighting between leaders on the Council. They can't seem to govern themselves properly let alone other planets.

I'm glad this movie has some humor. If anyone is complaining about it, then I think it's just another example of fans being impossible to please. They don't want a Superman movie to be as dark as something like Batman, and yet they get angry because of ONE funny line? People need to lighten up.

Sigh. Just because one doesn't like a moment that happens to be light hearted/humurous, doesn't mean one doesn't want or enjoy those kind if things.

Hey look at me, I like the campy humor in STM that so many dislikes.
It's all about context and execution. In this single case, I don't like it. Not because of what it is, but how it is.

You haven't even see it in the context of the film though. I think it's cute but I don't have strong loving feelings towards it because I haven't seen it in context. For all I know it could completely not work in the film.

The only jokey line I've ever hated in the TDK films was "Okay, that's NOT good!" You're about to die, guy. Why are you choosing this moment to joke around?

Cavill's accent when saying "You're a monster, Zod" is perfectomundo! If he can hold that throughout the movie, we are cooking.

Nice to see someone else not get the "They are hiding Cavill!" complaint. I never saw any hiding of Cavill what-so-ever.

It needed to be said, is just ridiculous how some have to whine about anything and nothing. Now is the funny line, I guess they should hate the Reeve movies that had plenty of cheese... oh wait. :o

Ummm, I haven't read the prequel or seen the book (I believe those two are separate), and so in theory Kypton might make the most sense, but:

In the YT that DK posted (low-quality one), right as Kostner is saying "when the world sees what you can do" (:14ish), is that a dragon heading towards Cavill????

Correction. It was the 35 second spot, and it appears to be Krypton and Jor-El. Either way :wow:

Which spot is that line from?

that is probably the large dragon-fly creature which act as steeds/horses for Kryptonians.

Jor-El's creature is called H'Rakka I believe, and that's probably him/her flying towards its master.

Also true; but in the context of the trailer I don't like it. And that is everything we can comment so far.

And it's silly that just because some don't like a single moment in the trailers but loves everything else, the dislike becomes the biggest deal.

Even if I won't like a couple of things in this movie, doesn't mean I won't be able to love it. Infact I'm very good at forgiving individual flaws if I like or love the whole.

Which makes sense, because for a moment there I was thinking:

Trains, planes, cars, spaceships, tornadoes, destruction of Metroplis, numerous pissed off Kryptonians, possible robots, heat vision all over the place, epic odds, epic battles, save the world, save the military, save the girl....... oh not enough? Let's throw a dragon at him too! :funny:

wow, 4 spots in one day!! wow, other 3 need to be in high-res. looks like there is a Pa Kent spot and then a Jor-el spot (they are both really similar). Has anyone invented time-jumping yet? Lois and Superman about to kiss is gonna be intense and emotional in the movie.

Moviegoers love levity where I come from (Ohio). Last night my audience loved the cheesy humor in Fast and Furious 6 and they laughed a lot at Star Trek and Iron Man 3. Almost every movie needs some form of humor to break up the seriousness. I'm not saying the humor always hits right in any film but if it does most of the time the audience will be fine with it being in the film.

I have no problem with disliking Army chick's line but if you hate humor altogether in blockbuster films prepared to be disappointed when Man of Steel comes out because there will at least be some humor in it.

Yes it will, until five seconds later it is revealed to be a memory wipe kiss and the heads of half the Superman fans on the planet instantly explode HAHAHA.

Has anyone posted this spot yet?

Wow, thanks. I think this is a clearer version. Jor-El part was amazing, and the building! Great new footage but there are just so many TV spots, I want to stop looking at new footage until the movie at some point!

:lmao:

Again it's not the humor per se that people dislike. I love great silly Hollywood humor that works. That single exchange in the context of the trailer not so much.

Yeah much clearer the soldier woman reminded me of Erica Durance a little lol

I bet you I dislike Goyers dialogue more than you do. I bet you I will have more of a problem with Goyer's dialogue in Man of Steel than most on these boards. I'm sure I will dislike a lot about Man of Steel. It's just that fanboys seem to hate any humor in Superhero films and I think that's dumb. Maybe you don't but on.the whole there are always tons of complaints when I Superhero film isn't 100% humor free. I've been on here for 9 years so my complaints don't come out of some blind defense of a movie I've never seen.

So many NEW TV Spots! I'm loving this. Jor-El/Russ-El is such a badass, and Cavill really has his accent on point! Maybe I should stop reading anything about it so the release date doesn't seem so far away.

Also, I know everyone in the theater will be laughing it up when that "he's hot" line plays. Personally, I'll welcome it;can't take away from the movie as a whole in the long run.
