Also keep in mind… many shots are entirely fabricated within a computer - so no DP involved at all.

No s*** :D Do you really think the DP and the director are not involved at all in this process? They are, there is a consistency to obtain.

Not sure about that... DP has extensive experience as to how to make an image look natural and the lighting needed for such a shot.

So, his input could prove to be valuable..unless the Director and CGI artists are really capable to do it themselves.

imo this is the most beautifully shot super hero film i have ever seen beautiful cinematography and just jaw dropping visuals like these
The footage does look stunning.

I'm now seeing a lot of MOS banners out and about. I think some of the general public who haven't been following the film are going to get a shock. In a positive way. Reminds me when I saw Batman Begins in 2005. A group inside the cinema were joking about Batman and Robin, and the TV series. And then the movie started. I think it will be similar here.

Everything I've seen points to MOS being something special. They've put it all on the screen and held nothing back.

Didn't say anything about an absent director. I was agreeing with you that the director is the point of consistency - the guy (or gal) who explains to the DP or a CG supervisor how a given shot should look.

I'm pretty the DP also provides background plates for most effects shots that establish the intended lighting and colours and all that.

Yeah they are totally involved in the process, it's like saying that Miranda doesnt deserve his Oscar for Best Cinematography for Life Of Pi because a lot of it is CG, LOL.

I think alot of folks are in for a shock..
For my part, i've converted 3 co-workers into seeing it. They were extremely impressed by the trailers and tv spots.
I'm sure my FB friends are annoyed by me as well because I post each trailer and tv spot as it comes out.

See I think that is a perfectly legitimate complaint. I thought Life of Pi looked wonderful from the shipwreck onwards but the opening half hour it never struck me that the movie looked good. Should it be honoured with a nom? Sure however I don't think it should have won. I honestly thought Pfister's work on TDKR was better and am very surprised it didnt get a nom at least.

What time did TV spot 6 go up yesterday? Could we expect 7 up the same time today?

Didn't get a nomination probably because overall, the other movies nominated had stronger and more memorable cinematography, although TDKR looks great yeah.

Indeed. But some shots may be entirely CG (e.g, space/spaceship scenes).

Once again: I’m agreeing with the sentiment that Snyder’s strong visual sense is the consistency factor between filmed scenes and the CGI stuff. The praise he gets is deserved.

It's not because sequences that are entirely in CG that it means that the DP or director have nothing to do with it.

Saw the trailer in front of both Iron Man 3 & Star Trek IMAX in UK recently. That's some great marketing, will convince a lot of people to see it.

Skyfall took TDKR's spot.

And if they altered the Mythos , they wouldnt give it away in any Art Book.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. The art book is not supposed to be released until after the film opens. It is intended to be rather spoiler-ish. We just got lucky that an online retailer shipped out pre-orders extremely early by mistake.

Not sure if this one has been posted before, but a better version of one of the TV Spots

#TeamJorElLives :word:

;) no

you can see the Jor El hologram disappear in this gif !

tumblr_mn6xdqjI2k1rot0kgo4_500.gif

that blue light. In a movie still Jor El is standing next to Superman and here you see it vanish.
