One part of his story doesn't make sense to me. The guy claimed that the screening was for preferred customers of the theatre chain, people who had memberships and went to see movies regularly, and then a few lines latter he talks about not going to the theatre much. Doesn't add up.

maybe he was a guest of someone who does

So I had an interesting thought about Zod's motivations and the conflict between him and Kal-El in this movie in the Zod thread so I thought I should bring it over here for easier viewing. It is partially based off of some minor spoilers from the art book so be warned. Also, if someone else has laready pieced this together and had this idea, much respect!

In the art book, it is mentioned that a miniature copy of the Genesis Chamber from which Kryptonian life is created exists in the movie and that Zod sees it as the means of saving the Kryptonian race from extinction. We know from the Girl of Steel comic that there is a "growth codex" on board Kara's scout ship that is to be used to grow and birth Kryptonians in establishing colonies on other worlds.

I have a suspicion that the technology spoke of in the art book is growth codex on Kara's scout ship (which was supposed to be used to create Kryptonian colonies) and which Supes controls through the Kryptonian Command Key. My guess is that Zod's wish for Kal-El to be "patriotic" involves him giving up the key/codex to Zod and aiding in the re-population of their race. Supes won't because he knows that Zod thinks of humans as nothing but animals (given his stance on superior bloodlines on Krypton and references in EW to him being a racial supremacist) and now knowing that Earth's sun grants them immortality/invulnerability is dead set on wiping away the human population and forging a New Krypton where nothing can harm them. If you really think about it, if you lost your world and your species was all but destroyed, don't you think you would become insanely obsessed with a world where your people are invincible upon discovering it? In essence, as DarthSkywalker put it in the Zod thread, the conflict Supes has to face is the idea of having "Krypton back at the expense of humanity". The film's climax will actually be about Superman choosing between his Kryptonian and human heritage and I think we all know which one he chooses... :woot:

I'm pretty he said that he was invited directly as a preferred customer, but I could be wrong.

maybe so...I didn't pay close attention

that makes a lot of sense man...
Zod wants access to the Growth Codex inside the Fortress and the only way to get it is with the Command Key and he's gotta go through Superman to get it

Yep.
It perfectly explains why he wants Earth to hand over Superman alive and he tries to reason with him first. He needs to find and get the Key. It also adds a much needed piece of the puzzle to my theory regarding Supes' plan to re-trap Zod and the Black Zero in the Phantom Zone. In addition to opening the vortex using its "Phantom Drive", the Scout Ship/Supes with the Key provides the perfect bait. They would have the things that Zod needs to re-populate the Kryptonian race with them, so it would make complete sense for Zod to try to follow the bait into the Zone despite the trap-like nature of such a journey.

Figured I'm going to have a little Superman marathon before MOS. I found a bunch of the old Max Fleischer cartoons I have on tape.

Today is Gillette day! Now we can figure out how he shaves, sometime today. As if we don't already know ;)

I think the Scout Ship will remain
at the top of the mountain where it nestles. In this pic it seems that the ship has already landed atop the mountain

I have all 17 of them on DVD and on Netflix...I'm watching Superman: The Movie now as I type

cool...can't wait to see what they say

So what is this black zero thing I am hearing about?

a prison ship/barge used to transport Zod and company to The Phantom Zone which Zod takes over the Black Zero and comes to Earth

I'm glad they're keeping the Phantom Zone. For a long time it seemed like they were replacing it with a prison ship because parallel dimensions were considered too unrealistic.

I have to disagree.
There is a very clear shot of it or an identical ship being involved in the Battle of Metropolis. I really don't think that the Black Zero would have such Scout ships because they have "Phantom Drives" that are capable of opening rifts to subspace (aka the Phantom Zone) He would be able to escape his imprisonment as a result while the art book makes it clear they only escape because Krypton's destruction makes it possible. Also, it fits so neatly with the convoy of military aircraft we have seen travelling somewhere and Lois, Hamilton, and Hardy's apparent discovery of the Fortress (all being shown in a northern, snowy location at night with Aurora Borealis in the background looking up at something with awe). The film's theme of acceptance and trust would be served so beautifully by Superman entrusting his Fortress to human hands and working together with the US military to save humanity. I bet that is why we see Lois in the jumpsuit and aboard the transport plane. Superman only really trusts her so she is the one who is given the Command Key to activate the Fortress.

Can someone please tell me what variations of Superman is Henry's Superman a mix of?

Henry's performance, according to Henry himself, is being strictly based off the comics, not looking at any of the previous other media adaptations.

Isnt it the phantom zone?

no

I have to disagree.

I think that's a completely different ship to be honest...but I still think your theory is more than likely what happens. Just a different ship. I think Zod and company have taken control of two ships...if I remember reading correctly Zod and company board a ship with a ramp. The Black Zero doesn't look like it would have a ramp

you're welcome

Agreed.

Guys and gals, be sure to tune in to a live stream of Breakfast Television (BT Toronto) in 50 minutes as Zack Snyder stops by to give an inside scoop on the movie. Well so they say, it probably wont be anything new but still great to see Zack talk about MOS! :yay:

Here is the link:

At least I think it's in 50 minutes ( 5:30AM- 9AM Eastern Time/ 2:30AM- 6AM Pacific Tim ) :woot:

I've always found that argument laughable because the dominant stream of thought in physics in terms of finally banging out a unified theory of the universe that explains why gravity is so weak and where quantum mechanics fits in seems to revolve around the idea of multiple universes, dimensions, or what have you.
