I don't know if he's anti-DC, but he is "anti-dark comic book movie," which is ridiculous. He thinks every comic book movie needs to be a lighthearted humorfest. I say there is room for BOTH kinds of movies, and apparently audiences around the world agree with me on it.

Yeah, you should never put a limit on 'art' no matter what it is.

He gave them both 8.5/10. But then he went on to straight up lie about TDK's impact on the movie industry. He wrote an article last year that he was so happy to see a more lighthearted movie like the Avengers succeeding because TDK was causing too many dark superhero movies to be made. Total BS. TDKR is really the only dark superhero movie that has come out recently. Watchmen doesn't count because its source material is extremely dark and the film was greenlit and in production long before TDK was released.

He is right

TDK was pure artistry
Avengers was pure entertainment

His credibility was sunk with me when he gave Batman Begins a 6/10 and Spider-Man 3 a 8.5/10.

Anyone who gives SM3 above a 6 has zero credibility when it comes to reviewing superhero movies.

I'll never understand that kind of thinking. Batman and The Punisher don't fit the lighthearted approach (not every hero does). I mean, he claims to be a fanboy, yet you'd think he know that.

lol wut

His arguments are just stupid. :whatever:

Not just stupid, factually incorrect. There haven't been any dark superhero movies inspired by TDK in the last 5 years other than its own sequel. At the time he wrote the article, TDKR hadn't even been released.

He's also admitted to not being the biggest Batman fan, so it's no surprise he was harsh on Nolan's films.

I can see him going after Man of Steel by (predictably) comparing it unfavorably to the Donner films.

And the GA.

Yep exactly. I expect a lot of the rotten reviews to say overall it's not bad but it's not terribly original and why reboot superman again and blah blah blah. But it should definitely do good enough business to fast track a sequel that people actually want to see unlike SR

I would think a lot of the biggest fans would not like any of the live action movies because they've deviated a lot from the comics.

Isn't 72% a little low?
Lower than SR? Really?

Sorry don't agree! This movie is equal and surpasses to TDK and I'll put it at least 85% to 95% for rotten tomatoes after watching it. Freaking wicked movie and I'm watching it another 3 times in the cinema!

It is strange to me how 72% is considered a low score on RT by a lot of fans on the Internet. 72% out of 200+ professional film critics all agreeing that a film is worth seeing. That seems like a pretty good score when you put it in perspective. Everyone has different tastes, so to have that kind of consensus is impressive.

Where did 72% come from? It isn't from MOS, or SR...

Hated iM2 but I actually enjoyed IM 3 even if the twist was stupid. MOS kicks both their asses.

Once again...THIS.

Thanks PowerCosmic!
Kinda sucks - not to bring down Superman - but if he were to land on any other planet without a yellow sun, he'd be just a plain old "human" with no powers at all.

Depressed now...

Yeah that part of the mythos always annyed me.I always preffered the way it was in Golden age superman days which was that Kryptonians had powers on their planet-yellow sun only makes them more powerful.

No other Kryptonians have powers because of Krypton's red sun. And the other travelling Kryptonian colonists presumably never colonized a planet with a yellow sun.

Gotta go.

I find it highly unlikely that none of the hundred kryptonians stumbled ona yellow sun planet. Its just convenient.I hope this is addressed in a sequel or it’s a bit of a stretch

Redfirebird is preaching right now. Continue on.

Exactly, thank you, that's my point. I'm sure as fans we will love it and will see it multiple times and it will make a lot of money and relaunch a successful franchise. I just feel as though a lot of critics are kin of snobs and no matter how long ago they came out there is such a love for the dinner films that a drastic departure from them will not be what people are expecting. That love is how I feel SR got a high 70's rating despite so many flaws. I can just see the review summary's now. "A high octane action film more in line with the in your face transformers films than the heart and originality of the donner films" or some crap like that. Call me a pessimist, I sincerely hope I'm wrong, that's just my prediction. I still think it will do 300M box office though.

Yeah, a movie about Batman is SUPPOSED to be dark. If other superhero movies have copied that tone (and I don't see any that have, not even MOS from what I can gather from trailers and clips), that's not the fault of Nolan or WB. They didn't need to "lighten" up Batman just because someone might take that approach with another character where it wasn't appropriate.
