Halfway through watching this. It's a new vid where Max Landis' pitches a Death of Superman story. It's pretty great. Kind of rich that he dissed MOS for the Metropolis destruction and 9/11 imagery, and in this vid he envisions it 10X worse. It's actually kind of made me think that y'know maybe that destruction and forced hand to kill could actually add to where the sequel could go with civilization hating him. Then I remember that the next sequel is a Batman movie...

But definitely recommend that vid.

Wow. Just wow. Great find, Smallville13. Loved Landis' story. Wouldn't make it to live action with all that violence, but would make a great Elseworlds edition. That's great storytelling, period. I was enthralled the entire 40 or so minutes.

I disagree here though because his story involves the people, the world's response and Lex's ploy as a reaction to the Metropolis destruction. It's a Superman story, World's Finest and Justice League Year Zero rolled into one.

 Goyer says they're going to address that in the sequel.

So when do we think MOS2/BvS will start filming? Same time as Avengers 2: Late Feb, early Mar? I assume they'll have shown footage 12 months from now. SDCC 14' will be huge indeed.

Saw Goyer say at comic con that the movie is already in pre-production.

Pretty soon would be my guess. Casting calls would need to be made soon. But I think the groundwork has already started in earnest. Other than the script, the next huge decision and milestone is getting the right Batman cast.

I just want them to focus on the goddamn script for ages!

Has the film been announced for 2015?

Yep. While the announcement of the Supes-Bats pairing seems out of the blue, I think there's a lot of background prep already going on. Wasn't Goyer signed on long-term to oversee the DCU?

I saw video of Goyer at comic con. He briefly mentions the movie. He says the movie is in pre-production. He also mentions how amazing it is for him to be at his computer typing Batman and Superman. It's also where he mentions not knowing about the film's title.

Well, Goyer's been on the script since February. He has another 5 to 7 months to knock it out before they start shooting.

His three picture deal was for Man of Steel, it's sequel, and Justice League, which I ultimately think will hit in 2018 to go up against Avengers 3.

That rumored 2017 slot for JL may go to Wonder Woman if they do that Flash film for 2016.

If Cavill films Man From Uncle over the next few months, then he'll have to immediately hit the gym. But he looks like he's already in good shape. He's not starting from scratch like last time.

That probably just means he's working on the script. Once it's approved we should see casting. So I'd imagine it's the very early stages of pre-production.

Yeah. Pre-production. We're talking script and concept designs.

I can't wait for the dick waving contest that is SDCC 14'. It's gonna be Avengers 2 vs. Batman/Superman. Who can get the most positive buzz. And you know studio execs are going to be taking it pretty seriously. I actually think B/S (oh. oh can we all start calling this film that now? BS. I'm coining it. Works on so many levels ;) ) has a good chance for this since they will be revealing the new Batman for the first time. Whereas A:AoU we could just be seeing footage of Tony Stark flying around for the millionth time.

Could be SW:VII runs away with it though. Either way Disney wins.

I see, thanks. If those are the projects, and he's been working on the script since Feb (and probably spitballing ideas longer back still), it isn't inconceivable that World's Finest as the superman sequel has been in the pipeline all along, and not as a reactionary response.

Oh, the Con next year is going to be glorious. If I could get down there, I would next year. It's going to be epic.

I agree. I think Star Wars is probably the most anticipated of them all because of the new direction. WB didn't bring a lot to SDCC outside of the Superman anniversary and the sequel announcement, so I wouldn't expect too much more next year. We'll probably get some footage or a teaser, but that's probably it.

That's my assessment as well. I really think that that release date delay for Man of Steel changed everything. That was an extra six months and they were heavy into post production by the time the release date got changed.

The ideas started swirling then, I'm willing to bet.

The released date changed for MOS before they ever filmed. It was changed July 2011 once the Hobbit was a go.

while i cant wait for avengers 2 you are so right

A2 will be the 5th time we see iron man(as overexposed as logan), and 4th time we see thor, cap, black widow, etc.

while WF will be 2nd time we see henry's superman and first time we see the new bruce wayne and first time on screen these 2 icons together

batman/superman is gonna feel more fresh

No. It was changed just before filming began. The Hobbit was green lit and WB wanted to give the Hobbit December 2012. So they pushed MOS back six months.

Googled the story and you're right. They began filming in August of 2011 and it was changed the month before. Even still, they finished photography in February 2012, so they had 14 months of post.

That's unusual in this day and age. Avengers didn't have that much time.

Am I the only one who thinks we might get a black and grey batman suit from Snyder ?
