All Things Wonder Woman: An Open Discussion - Part 1

I am not surprised Grant Morrison would say something like that, given his recent comments about his approach to WW in interviews. Also, he does want to promote his take on the character.

btw here is some artwork Morrison showed of his WW Earth One at Comic-Con:

So is it a cause for concern that we haven't heard anything about a production start date yet?

Has WB ever officially released a production start date? That's something I just don't expect. I do expect/think we should be hearing some casting news soon.

I do hope it's because they want to announce more than one casting together. I love WB, but they never really comment on **** and it's frustrating at times. Lawd. :oldrazz:

If Chris Pine is indeed Steve Trevor then that's a really good start on the casting front. I suspect there'll be at least 2 more big names in the cast.

Yeah, most likely Hippolyta and whomever the main villain turns out to be (Ares, Cheetah, Circe, Dr. Psycho, etc).

Setting aside possible changes in release dates, WB would usually start shooting a big summer film slated for release in June in around March or April of the preceding year. Some productions are given more lead time than that and some less, but that would be about the norm for WB. So Wonder Woman could start production in March or April 2016.

The potential of what may be a very long Justice League shoot in 2016 might bring production on Wonder Woman forward somewhat, although they might be able to accommodate both productions by scheduling Gal Gadot's scenes later in the Justice League shoot.

Seeing how WB is deploying key assets in terms of characters and casting to boost the commercial appeal of BvS and Suicide Squad makes me think they're likely to do the same for Wonder Woman and has me intrigued for the casting announcements that should come later this year.

Nope. We found out when BvS and SS started through unofficial sources. Expect the same here

I would think production and shooting for WW may start a bit sooner. Perhaps between Nov and Jan

Could do if they need to clear the decks for the Justice League shoot if they plan a very generous schedule for it.

Deadline reported that filming starts this fall though http://deadline.com/2015/02/gal-gadot-wonder-woman-keeping-up-with-the-joneses-1201378159/

I think they're filming early to either shoot JL or to add another film to 2017

^^^
Yeah, I remember that Deadline report. It was a bit of a throwaway line in the context of a wider story, so I'm not sure it's necessarily on the money. Could be, though. But production schedules can move around quite a bit. We'll know soon enough.

I imagine they'll want Gal to be available for press for BvS so they won't start shooting in March 2016. I'd say it would be October or November of this year until January or February then there is a break for press for BvS and other projects then they shoot Justice League in late Spring/early Summer.

Most film tend to shoot a year before release unless there is extensive post production or it's something small scale. Pirates 5 has already wrapped and that's not out until 2017 and Sony had both MIB3 and The Amazing Spider-Man shoot in late 2010 to take advantage of tax credits in NY.

Good point about the BvS press tour. That had slipped my mind. WB tends to give its films longer schedules prior to release, usually more than a year from the start of shooting to release date, compared to other studios.

Press and commitments for other films usually are included into schedules, Ben Affleck had Gone Girl commitments during the filming of BvS for example so I imagine the scenes which didn't require him were shot during his time away.

I believe Tarzan which is released next year is already in the can as it was shot last year and features Margot Robbie and Christoph Waltz. The other extreme is films like Spectre and Mission Impossible Rogue Nation, the former has just wrapped up and being released in late October whille RN was pushed up five months which meant they had to get the film finished ahead of schedule.

Finally some "news", but they mixed up the release date and director/writers with BvS.

‘Wonder Woman’ will hit theaters on May 6, 2016. It is currently unknown how the screenwriters Zach Snyder, David S. Goyer and Chris Terrio (Argo)*plan to use ‘Wonder Woman’ in the new movie. Rumors suggest that she will be assisting Batman and Superman fight villains that plan on taking over the world. However, it is known that ‘Batman v. Superman’*will introduce Gal Gadot as ‘Wonder Woman’ prior to her solo movie, which is currently in pre-production.

:funny:

This is coming out the same day Civil War is? :wow:

While Pine's star has slipped a little bit, he's still a very good get to play Steve Trevor. They're going big with each DCEU release.
