All Things Wonder Woman: An Open Discussion - Part 1

Pine is a great choice. He was my top pick for Trevor even though some people wanted him for Hal. Trevor is actually a better fit for him as an actor.

Finally some more movement on this film.

While Pine's star has slipped a little bit, he's still a very good get to play Steve Trevor. They're going big with each DCEU release.

Pine is bigger now than he has ever been. Star has slipped comment doesn't really make sense to me

Jake G would work as Hal. Doubt it happens though. Maybe as Grayson/Nightwing though?

Anyhow, glad Pine as Trevor is a done deal! I'm would have been happy of he was Hal also....but him being Trevor will work! Just glad he is in the DCEU!

If Tatum is really ditching Gambit which I would not blame him at all....than Tatum as Hal would make sense with him having a tight relationship with WB's and the films he has made with them.

I think Tatum is more of a fit as Hal/GL and in the space buddy cop ensemble format than as the cajun Gambit. He seemed miscast from the beginning IMO. Tatum can be looked at as Shazam possibly as well.

Wished we got a short synopsis for the film, like the Aquaman film had a while back. But I'm contempt.....for now.:woot:

"The intriguing part of the confirmation story at The Wrap: Pine has a sequel option! I had heard (a director or two ago) that the plan was to have Wonder Woman be set in the past, and Wonder Woman II to maybe be set in the less farther past and Wonder Woman III to be set in the modern day. It sounded like the trilogy could span a hundred years, which would be neat. But if Trevor is going to be in more than one of these films it either means a) they're all taking place in the past in the same time frame or b) they're all happening in the modern day. "

I wonder what time period they're going to go with.

Devin Faraci?
1.0

Of course there's sequel options.

He was poised to headline what were hoped to be two big Paramount franchises. When the Jack Ryan reboot fizzled his star slipped a little. Just a little mind. As I said, he's still a good casting get to play Steve Trevor.

I assume if Steve Trevor, like in the New 52 is an agent for ARGUS then it's likely set in the present but you could easily have a flashback to Wonder Woman or the Amazons helping out during different periods of time but then decide to shun away from Man's World until Trevor crashes into the island in the present.

Glad Pine is locked in. Great choice for Trevor.

Faraci was the one who restarted all those Pine is GL rumors.

Talking about how he spoke to someone who was close to Pine and confirmed. Lawd.

Charlize as Hippolyta
Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Cheetah

Good solid choice with Pine and I think there is potential to put a really good stamp on the character. As long as he's not just a "dude-bro" lunkhead this could be really interesting. I also want more of a "Male Adams/Lane" approach and not a "Male Dunst/MJ" one. I really feel that was a big sticking point (just a gut feeling) with why Mclaren left and Jenkins was brought on.

I am hoping they can balance out Trevor being the "Lad in need of life saving" (as opposed to The Damsel In Distress ;) ) but not have him JUST be that and make him a fun and engaging supporting character. I see he also has some gray in his beard at least. Col. Trevor would be a vet so maybe he can have some salt and pepper in his hair?

So make him the Angel and not the Xander to their Buffy. Gotcha!

Maybe not THAT badass. ;) But certainly he has to come across as competent and with some self awareness, and some attractive qualities as a man in his personality. If he looks like an idiot it works against thinking Diana would have any interest in him. Now, does that mean you overcompensate and make him TOO hyper-competent to the point where you question Diana being in the story at all? No, he can be a man of action... That is also a man out of his depth given the fantasy elements involved.

Now that he has been confirmed I ask this question: How would everyone feel if the film doesn't rush Diana and Steve into a romance by the film's end? Sure, make it that there is an obvious attraction, one beyond it just being physical, but don't have a big kiss scene ect. How would you all react? Would that seem a smack against the WW character? In that she gets her own film but unlike all the male super heroes she doesn't "get the guy" at the end. Or, would that be forward thinking and show that the first female super hero films doesn't have to follow all the same story beats and tropes that most of the male ones do?

I don't think it matters about the speed of the relationship as long as its development is organic. I think that was the big knock against Natasha and Bruce in Age of Ultron, was that it was so jarring out of the gate. There needs to be a consistent narrative between who Diana is in BvS, WW, and JL. Heck, she and Steve could just be together right from the start and it wouldn't bother me as long as the writing is there to back it up.

As for KRYPTON's setup, I kind of like the idea of the role-reversal you've presented.
