All Things Wonder Woman: An Open Discussion - Part 1

I get your caution and who knows what will happen but this is nothing like Superman Lives. WB are trying to build one of those ever popular cinematic universes. It's in their best interest to get everything right and film the movie this time.

The press on a delay would be disastrous and hurt the DCEU before it even got started. Not saying they should make a bad film to meet a release date, I'm just saying that delaying it would not be good.

Personally I don't get why we haven't heard more casting yet? I am getting impatient and very annoyed. I respect that WB and the Snyder's dig the secrecy angle and I don't want to know any secrets but every studio releases casting info, that's not something that needs to be kept secret.

I know I sound like an entitled whiney fan to someone and that's not what I'm trying to do. I'm saying the film is going to start shooting in November according to one of the producers so hearing about a casting choice or two would be ideal.

I'm hoping we hear some casting news during NYCC

I'll be honest. I am starting to worry a bit.

Worry about what though? They've signed up cast and crew and are deep into pre production.

We've just not heard of these castings bar Chris Pine.

Delay. I'm feeling it in my bones (and stuff) that it's about to happen.

I'm probably needlessly panicking, I am aware of that, but I just can't shake that feeling...

Well they don't film for another 4 weeks at least and they're filming in Shepperton studios I believe so unless they do outdoor filming over here you won't know WW film is actually happening visibly.

Fair point. I'd just like some information from production, just something that shows that this thing is still happening, that's all. Ayer tweeted bunch of stuff while "Suicide Squad" was early in production.

In other words, I'm one thirsty mother****er. And no, I am not talking about booze right now, though it would help. :o

I'm not worried yet but darn if I'm not anxious as heck to hear some casting info.

Ill believe it when the caterers role up onto the lot. I know I'm a cynic but there has been too many false dawns. Just look at Superman Lives.

I'm with you, actually. Won't believe it until filming ends, maybe not until the first teaser! Another exampled is the aborted Miller JL project many years ago. They had the actors there on set, costumes had been fitted and then it got canceled.

That's a completely different thing. It's like apple and oranges, that also wasn't helped by a writers strike and a tax hike. JL Mortal was a few weeks away from shooting it never actually started. There were numerous movies around that time that got canned.

We had the same crap on the BVS boards and Suicide Squad boards. Heck what's wrong with you guy's?

Hard life made us bitter and cynical. Occasionally, we still have flashbacks of all those moments when the films we were happily anticipating got canceled. No amount of medication and therapy can help. :csad:

It is strange that we've only have one casting announcement for this movie.

I was never looking forward to Justice League Mortal and thought it was a terrible idea so there was no disappointment when they canceled that.

It sounded like a mess.

I feel like Fury Road has somewhat clouded people's perception of it and made it more positive than the material deserves. Mortal just sounded awful.

I'm just not going to play the revisionist history game. Just because Fury Road was awesome doesn't mean that JLM would have worked. Also it would have been a slap in the face to Nolan to have a competing Batman on the big screen. Warners were smart to cancel that film. Some films should be canceled.

Now Wonder Woman's journeys in development hell are obnoxious, that's why people are leery about not hearing any casting news a month before the movie is to start filming. It's difficult to tolerate WB playing the uber secrecy game with Wonder Woman considering she's one of the most well known heroes, is 75 years old and has never had a feature film.

That's exactly it. I thought it was hilarious when I saw someone on Twitter post a pic of Megan Gale in Fury Road with a caption saying "THIS COULD'VE BEEN OUR WONDER WOMAN!!!" I was just like.... okay? So what? She literally had five minutes of screentime in that movie.

I'm not worried yet about the film getting delayed or anything like that. It's likely that most of the cast is locked on, and WB is just waiting for one more big name to sign on the dotted line before they put out a press release.

Now I know people will be thinking that one of the trades should've caught a whiff of casting business by now, but keep in mind how excellent WB are at keeping casting under wraps. Exhibit A: Ezra Miller.

Indeed. It might seem like an overstatement, but I truly believe that, aside from BvS, this is the most important film to get right for DCEU to work. For a number of reasons.
And after they do well with WW solo and establish the Trinity, I believe that WB/DC will have much easier ride with Justice League and following films.

She was Sean Bean of "Fury Road".

I don't think that you are overstating the importantance of Wonder Woman's film at all.

Pretty sure they'll release some info this week or the next. They're crossing T's and dotting I's

Edit:

Also the IMDB has been updated with some more names, including the Stunt Coordinator - Bradley Allan (Kingsman, Kick-Ass, Pacific Rim, Scott Pilgram)

I'm going to put an out there casting and with Steve Trevor being in this hopefully it might back up my thought's on him maybe being in it.

What if in the movie General Sam Lane is in it? He could be a old mentor to Trevor. The character was in an old draft of MOS, so was clearly being looked at for the movie and in Gary Sinise was rumoured for the role in Suicide Squad. it also expands the universe and connects' it back to MOS/BvS as he is the father of Lois.

Well the empire article confirmed that it'll be an origin story so i expect the casting of both the amazons and the U.S. air force.

Would be kinda cool actually if Steve Trevor and Hal Jordan were old air force buddies.
