All Things Wonder Woman: An Open Discussion - Part 1

I think the radio silence is just getting to me a little bit.

Is it odd that we haven't gotten a production start date this close to the supposed start?

Im giving them till the end of October to start spilling the beans, if not then i believe there is a cause for concern.

The thing about multiple writers is that as long as they have a clear vision and proper lead guidance then im sure it'll turn out great.

Or it'll be like ASM2 :hehe:
I don't think ASM2 failed to have a clear vision, I think they suffered from looking too far ahead going on the presumption the path they were laying down was conclusively leading to bigger success.

That framework probably being the Sandbox that Snyder and Terrio and the DCEU think-tank created.
I'm a little more comforted by that. Though I would note a similar process was done with Goyer/Nolan on MOS. They both outlined the plot and then Goyer went on his own to write it out. Ability still plays a part in how that structure ends up going on the screen. This is where my faith in Jenkins helps tremendously.

Jason Fuchs has mentioned in interviews that WB/DC is like working for the CIA so they're not letting info come out unless they want it to, he couldn't even confirm that he's involved or not.

I doubt the script is the worst thing about Pan

My opinion doesn't change on Fuchs. Pan might be bad, but the entire fantastical setting is something that would make sense in a Wonder Woman movie so it's good that he already has experience on that and maybe it will have some things like that. Plus, he doesn't have a long track record of bad movies.

If Goyer got to write the Batman trilogy and MoS, and people mostly loved it, I think Fuchs should have the benefit of the doubt too.

And I'm not seeing complaints about the dialogues or plotholes... There are some about the pacing, but that could be worked on and is a common complaint even in good movies.

Most criticisms I've seen about Pan stem from its overall direction, I think Fuchs is "in the clear" here.

Writers for hire have to adapt to the director. I have NO DOUBT it was Wright who wanted those lame musical moments in there. lol

Ironically, I can't find this old bit of news where it mentions he got a meeting based on his PAN pitch, his take was very dark, so I know Wright changed the tone.

Please WB give us some casting, you like to release info on Friday. Give it to us!

I'm too confident in Patty Jenkins to worry about Fuchs. Jenkins is a writer too and she developed the project including overseeing the script.

I don't think Jenkins is just some hired hand with no creative input either. I kinda like that she isn't an "action" type director either to be honest.

Exactly, the director has the final say and she shown more than enough talent when helping Theron win that Oscar.

The concept art pics are gorgeous. Loving the cape. I think Wilkinson was spot on in his descriptions. Makes me curious what he meant when he said WW's fighting style was "formal" - intriguing!

I like that he said Amazon culture was formal and her fighting style disciplined. That her "presence as a warrior is completely legitimate". Amazon culture is full of ceremony, full of ideals. Wonder Woman's fighting skills come from training and study, as opposed to Superman, whose fighting style was more of, as Henry Cavill said, a "brawler".

The cloak is great.

Related to this film? I don't know. If there is news tomorrow I hope it isn't a delay.

I am confident that Jenkins can deliver on the character interactions, and the drama... But I would be lying if I were to say I don't hope that the WW film has at least 3 really good action set pieces as well.

Ya'll think we get something this weekend?

I hope we do. Some more casting decisions at least.

Oh sir, I definitely want Jenkins and crew to and believe they will bring it action wise.

Yes.

I'm cool with not seeing anymore BvS things, but give me tons of WW info. Also, Patty needs to use her twitter more. Snyder and Ayer both gave us something pre/during filming.

With BvS all I want are some more screenshots and the viral stuff is cute but I'm not like dying for another trailer or anything. They could wait until January to release another trailer and I wouldn't be crying about it.

I definitely am just ready for some Wonder Woman casting and the like. Yeah it would be cool if Jenkins uses her twitter account when they start filming.

I'm going to echo the concerns about the lack of news on the progress of this movie. I mean, shouldn't we have at least gotten some more casting news if it is supposedly going into production next month?

It was Joe Wright who came up with that musical idea, he mentioned it in an interviews. It's very easy to blame the writer but it's rare for the final film to match what was originally written.

Yeah, from the interviews and reviews it seems like Joe Wright is more at fault. He's not versed in fantasy. Even though you're a good director in one genre doesn't mean you understand how to approach the taste of another genre.

Not to mention that this Hollywood blacklist filled with potentially good scripts get ruined by the director in charge.

And let's face it, fantasy is always ridiculously tricky. And usually fantasy films suck for that very reason.

Agreed, style over substance is another thing that makes visual films hard to get good reviews.

I didn't need to listen to the interview to know I was right. See, very early on Fuch mentioned he got a meeting based on his darker Pan origin idea. I'm just going to assume they liked him and kept him on, but Wright came in and changed things to fit his style and take on the characters.
