All Things Wonder Woman: An Open Discussion - - Part 11

I thought my DBZ reference was on point but guess not. There has been previous comments of both Snyder and Patty talking about Diana going on a journey on this one and alluding to unlocking more of her powers etc.

The different shield and sword could be a reference to this as well, but who knows. Going from the way she moved against Doomsday to some of those soldiers getting some shots in, it is very clear to me that she aint as powerful like she was in BvS, but it could also be her just going easy on them. Still whoopin ass no doubt.

If I were to place bets, I'd say its probably just a matter of "Is cautiously learning her strength". Not that she's inexperienced, but this is probably her first battle with mortals in her life, and definitely her first battle with modern military hardware. If your not sure how much something will hurt, or how hard you can hit someone without reducing them to a fine red mist, you act cautiously.

As I've said before, my concern is less that she will use deadly force, and more that it won't be framed appropriately. My big fear is that the movie will use the style and imagery that say "Hero righteously slaying the Nazi hordes", despite the fact that its the wrong war, and the German army is no more deserving of death than the French or British armies.

I'd like Diana to be merciful towards the German soldiers, not because its inappropriate to kill in war, but because she sees them as helpless pawns trying to do their best in an impersonal, stupid war. To her, they are as much victims as anyone else. I mean, if your going to use WWI as a setting, it'd be kind of silly to pass up using the actual themes of WWI.

( Naturally, this all goes out the window when dealing with any knowing agents of Ares or whatnot. Those aren't victims of circumstances and politics, they are deliberate agents of supernatural evil. While they shouldn't be abused, there's no need to feel bad about stabbing them in battle. )
I can agree with that.

I love how the killing discussion has already started for this movie.

Lol there's going to be an even worse uproar when thr Israeli Jewish wonder woman starts killing German world war Soldiers. Someone ls going to seriously get their feelings hurt. Lol

Well, it's not called the DC Murderverse for nothing!

Not anymore. All I have for the past few months is that WW is the start of the Geoff Johns era. If WW gets a 26% RT score, it's all on him now. Cookie cutter Justice League, all on him.

WTH guys, if Cap goody two shoes can spray bullets and kill many Nazi's in the MCU. Wonder-Woman can off a few with her sword. Wonder-Woman in the comics was always less caring towards killing than Superman and Batman anyway.

Besides I'm still hoping that in Affleck's Batman, Bats will but a bullet in Letoker's head in the opening scene.

Are we really having this discussion. Wonder Woman's main offensive weapon is a ****ing sword. It is not a letter opener.

Ehh. . . that's really not accurate. Wonder Woman was almost entirely done before BvS was released. It may be the first one released after Geoff Johns took over, but Geoff Johns was not the creative center for its actual production. The best he could do is enforce changes in the editing room, which is a mixed blessing.

The first movie done pretty much entirely under his auspice will be the Flash. Everything else finished filming before he came onboard.

Sure she could. . . if she were fighting Nazis.

This movie is set in World War *One*. There aren't any Nazis in it. And this indifferent attitude towards the matter is exactly why I worry.

The double standard arguments have started early. That's nice.Next it will be the movie is a rip off of Cap and Thor claims.

I somehow doubt that some of the same people who are acting all "whatever" about this topic would be as indifferent if we were talking about soldiers of their own nation instead. I still remember Iran not taking 300 very well, and that was the freaking Achaemenid empire, 400-something BC.

I agree that Wonder Woman's battle scenes against the German soldiers should be handled with some taste... they were not inhuman beings like Orcs, Chitauri or Nazis, after all. :o

You're too late. That already happened. Marvel is the beginning of everything. It all started with them. DC is hell. Snyder is the Devil.

She shouldn't kill unless she has to. The best versions of Diana are all about peace, avoiding conflict, and trying to find the best solution other than killing. She should only kill if there is no choice.

lol

That shot of her using her sword while on horseback, that brotha is DEAD.

Amazons pretty much slaughtering all them soldiers on the beach.

Heh.

Just have them be in league with Ares, or something.

I am happy for the people who just need to see characters kill to be entertained, excited and amused. Unfortunately, for most, it will take something more than that to get them excited and for this movie to win them over :yay:.

Oh, brother. It's a war. Captain America killed. Wonder Woman probably will too. Some people also act like they didn't see her disarming soldiers with her lasso and breaking/snatching guns from them too.

It's war man, that's a different scenario then stopping criminals trying to make money.

What are you talking about?

1) He was part of the writing process

2) He was constantly on set during filming. Just some tweets from London during filming.
