All Things Wonder Woman: An Open Discussion - - - Part 12

Perhaps the UN organizers weren’t anticipating this pushback - but I think they missed an opportunity by not having feminist icon Gloria Steinem involved. She’s been a passionate defender of Wonder Woman for decades.

The main problem is that this symbolic “ambassadorship” appears to be one of the few women-centered initiatives by the UN (e.g., they recently selected yet another male to be Secretary General). If postive stuff was happening on that front, I think WW would be getting less grief.

(1) The fact that UN has appointed several "fictional characters" as Honorary Ambassadors, which include characters like Tinker Bell, Winnie the Pooh, and Angry Birds, makes their points worthless.

(2) Wonder Woman is more than qualified (as a character) to get the Honor as the character was created to promote gender equality and present a different approach to "Super-heroism".

(3) The character has existed for 75 years, it's not as if the character was created a few months ago and few people have never heard about it, the longevity and popularity of WW shows that many people recognize her, which gives UN some advantage to promote their cause using WW as an icon. Was there any doubt about this ?

(4) As WW is getting her own solo movie next year, people will know more about the character and what she stands for, if they don't know anything about her till now, in which case criticisms about her become unwarranted in first place.

But, opposing "Honorary Ambassadorship" to a fictional character who is a female, just because "Real Women" are not getting employed at the UN is absurd logic. How on earth is WW preventing more women getting employment at the UN ?

I just want some kinda of tease that suggest the villain is going to be badass and the final fight is going to be epic.

Or a shot of the lasso around someone.

I mean, it's ridiculous. I'll give you Civil War or GOTG, because the characters are established.

But..

Doctor Strange - First trailer 7 months before release. 2 minutes long. Most of it is the first act. Second trailer 3 months before release. 2 minutes long. Final trailer 1 month before release. 1 minute (they called it a TV spot).

Wonder Woman - First trailer 10 months before release. 3 minutes long. Scenes from first and second act. Second trailer.. 6-7 months before release,

Why?

Part of it was because they wanted to promote Wonder Woman at comic con SD, the only chance because WW releases a month before the next con. Then there's the 75th anniversary thing. I don't really care why, though. I've just enjoyed seeing glimpses of a movie I've waited my entire life for.

It was so heart warming to see Gal and Lynda together for the first time. It is such a great time to be a Wonder Woman fan.

It's not a new trailer.

@TrailerTrack
Yes, there was a #WonderWoman trailer classified by the BBFC today - no it’s not new :P Trailer F2 is 90s version of SDCC trailer...

So I guess that would be the international trailer.

The new trailer was classified today. Let the complaining begin.

Warner Bros. are ******* crazy, man. New trailer will be out in the next couple of days. And it says trailer 3 because of the international trailer that was released couple of weeks ago.

They might add a few more scenes, but it's the same trailer just a bit shorter.

If the WW trailer debuts in front of Dr Strange, then I'll be exiting the theatre for that bit and coming back in afterwards. I did that for Civil War. But it's already out in the UK, so they must've already decided their trailers by now.

Not necessarily, sometimes studios due to some mix ups have stuff for the US release but not the early international release. Case in point - this WW trailer, which I don't think they'd have classified today if it wasn't arriving until Fantastic Beasts. Usually with WB it's one, max 2 weeks out, or even after it's out online if they release it quite a bit in advance of when it's coming theatrically. eg. Dunkirk's wasn't classified till the confirmation came through it was theatrically with Skwad.

I don't understand anyone complaining about another trailer. Most huge movie releases have 3 trailers nowadays, not including international trailers and tv spots. If don't want to see it, don't watch it.

WB are going to continue to market their films the way they always have until they decide not to.

WB has always done 4 or 5 trailers before the movie releases. I don't know why people think this is something new. I remember TDKR having like 5 or 6 different trailers. Same with MOS, which i think had 6, BvS and SS had 4 each
