All Things Wonder Woman: An Open Discussion - - - Part 12

I like MoS, even if parts are greater than the whole in general. I think BvS is watchable,
but suffers from a lack of proper cinematic structuring as well as a poor villain.

BvS has a different structure to the standard 3 act structure of set-up, conflict, resolution. It's a 4 act structure. Some even say 5. So I'm unclear why you would say it doesn't have a cinematic structure.
You may not like the style of Lex presented but he was genuinely frightening and arrived as the supervillain when he was granted all the knowledge he acquired by the scout ship.

No such thing as a "four act structure". It's always and odd number ie 3, 5, 7 ect.

Sorry for being pedantic.

Pedantry is often forgiven when you happen to be right.

However, four act structure exists. Do not take my word for it, and just google it.

An example of four act structure is one of my all time favorite plays of the 20th Century Spanish theater, LA DAMA DEL ALBA, by Alejandro Casona, one of the three greatest Spanish playwrights of the time.

Movies are usually three-acts. TV shows (because of commercial breaks) typically have four.

Lex was genuinely frightening? They must have cut that part out of the movie...

By structure, I mean fully realized scenes. (I haven't seen the Ultimate cut)

When I initially watched BvS, I was still in "hype mode."

By the time I rewatched it, I saw it for what I think it really was.

A collection of moments and setpieces with the plot concocted
as an excuse to have characters make speeches or fight.

It's still interesting, but I don't think it makes for an ideal film experience.

I'd still give it a 6/10 (or under "good" standards, but not bad)

Just okay.

But since this is the Wonder Woman thread, I feel
like there's potential for the story that BvS lacked.

I think Patty Jenkins can make a more carefully constructed movie,
while Zack Snyder can at least serve as an aesthetic consultant.

I was never "sold" on the Suicide Squad trailers (I may see it eventually)
but Wonder Woman has the best trailers since Mos trailer 3.

And I honestly think the third trailer for MOS was the best superhero
trailer ever. The Dark Knight trailer 2 is probably the most iconic superhero trailer ever (mainly for making TDK look like an action movie, and showcasing Ledger's talent) but MOS trailer 3 promised a movie that would have warmth, a poetic quality, and action. And there are bits and pieces of that, but not enough.

The new WW trailer looks serious, but in a "different way." It looks like a war movie, rather than an action movie or straight up drama.

If the DCEU can get one critically acclaimed movie (70 percent fresh or above)
it could pave the way for others to subconsciously follow.

Looking forward to this over JL :/

Yes Gawd.

One of the best themes to come from a superhero movie. As soon as it starts, the hype begins.

Rupert Gregson - Williams - Wonder Woman (Trailer #2 Music) (Trailer Version):

Are we sure this is actually Rupert Gregson-Williams' score and not some track used solely for the trailer?

"It is our sacred duty to defend the world...and it's what I'm going to do." I criticized Gal's delivery when the trailer came out but now it's my favorite line ???

Maybe it WAS me getting used to the accent...

I had a big problem with her accent now I am warming up to it.

On the timing of Wonder Woman and playing Diana Prince Gal Gadot told how she felt about it:
“First.. It’s about time. And I’m very, very grateful to be the one who got this amazing opportunity to portray this bigger than life character. We’ve been working hard, and non-stop in order to make the best movie we can. It’s been such an amazing ride, I can’t share much unfortunately, but I can only say this is one of the most special projects I’ve ever worked on, and I can’t wait to share it with you!”

Gal was asked about her experience at the recent UN event where Lynda Carter was in attendance, Gadot replied with, “I saw Lynda, so I couldn’t keep my coolness," Gadot said. "I was like, ‘Lynda, oh my God, I’m so happy to see you, to meet you, finally’…my English got completely broken for a second there…I’m not surprised, you know, it’s very clear to me why she was the very first Wonder Woman to be cast, because she is such an inspiring, beautiful, happy, funny, strong confident woman who immediately makes you, you know she makes you feel comfortable around her, and she’s eye level, she’s great.”

Gadot was then asked what was it like to put on the costume? “Tight. Very, very, very, very tight,” Gadot answered. “The very-very first time I tried the costume on was three days after I got cast. And they flew me to Michigan, and I got into this huge hangar. Huge, with tons of white walls covered with posters of me as Wonder Woman. I got into the room and I couldn't stop looking at the posters. And then, when they wanted me to try on the costume—because I was so excited that they cast me for the role—I couldn't say anything; I couldn't breathe, but I was like, 'That's okay. That's fine.' It was really-really tight, and we adjusted it. And I love the costume. I think, it complements Wonder Woman very much so, as being the greatest warrior out there. And now it's much more comfortable.”

So since Dawn of Justice didn't have one, but Suicide Squad, anyone wonder whether there will or won't be any sort of mid or post-credits scene for Wonder Woman?
