"Loved WONDER WOMAN. She reminds me of Christopher Reeve's Superman: true north superhero w/ no angst or cynicism, which is needed right now." yeah.. they definitely retconned her walking away from mankind..

I don't think it's retconned so much as recontextualized or put in context period. Before, what she said was vague enough that it could lend itself to varied interpretations. I hope so anyway. I don't want unnecessary continuity issues.

When's the ACTUAL embargo lift for critics to post?

it was supposed to lift like 2 days before the day it opens but I think WB will do it in the next few days judging from the raving critics on social media. That way they can ramp up the hype and ride it into a 100+mill opening weekend

now I just hope the movie doesn't suck for us DCEU lovers. That wouldn't be a good trade off...
This is a strange conundrum built by the DCEU fandom. If Wonder Woman is well received, does that mean nothing? Does it mean it is bad?

Personally, like hearing this isn't cynical. Sounding a lot more in line with a modern take of Donner's Superman and even Raimi's Spidey.

These tweets are so encouraging.

Agreed. They dont change my stance on how I dislike critics and bloggers but it is still nice to hear. Plus it should make hanging out here much more fun leading up to and after release :)

And dont worry y'all...after I see the sneak preview I will not spoil a thing and stay here posting! I make no bones that Superman is my fave character but the last few years Wonder Woman has become #2 and this movie has been sort of a passion! I cant wait!

But now...WE DANCE!!

You can like the DCEU and not want every movie to be like a Snyder movie. Let Patty do her thing, then let Snyder do his and Wan do his and so on. I wouldnt want Zemeckis to make a dark and broody Flash ;)

Heard there's humor? I'm so triggered! Ugh, keep humor in the MCU :o

I'm delighted to hear this. We don't need another dark depressing MW's.a.

Patty has been partly inspired by STM so she's learned from the best. I'm feeling good about this now.

Some people described it as really dark after those screenings a few weeks ago so we should be good :sly:

I don't think there really is a way to recontextualize it. There's kind of no way of not ending on a dour, downbeat note when it has to sync up with the statement: "I walked away from mankind, from a century of horrors. Man made a world where standing together is impossible"

Those in the "know" has said the Geoff Johns "era" starts with Wonder Woman so ever since I heard that, I've been painfully awaiting this film. Can't wait to see the adjustments with the DCEU foundation still built in that I love.

Well we heard it is a mess too!! :o

Man I wish trollboy was still around. Maybe he will start a new name and get banned again :o

taking inspiration from classic is good.

Every time someone brings up Donner's Superman when they are making a superhero flick, it usually works out. :woot:

but how could it? If it was filming at the same time as BVS? Unless they pulled a Suicide Squad and totally changed the tone and feel via extensive reshoots and editing

So patty is most likely getting WW2 and probably 3

2 more weeks!! I cannot wait! Hearing all the positive reviews for once is definitely awesome!

Personally I always thought the Johns era wouldn't be ushered in until Aquaman but Johns has been around Patty a lot during her shoot and has commented a plethora of times so he might have been overseeing a majority of things. To what extent, who really knows.

Brb, drooling over the thought of a Zemeckis Flash movie

In the pantheon of "darkness" you'd expect Wonder Woman to be "darker" then Superman.

If Wondy crush's it, the DCEU may not even look back at this point. Snyders Justice League will become that much more intriguing because the BvS hate goggles will be out in full force. These next 2 for the DCEU will show the universe's versatility.

It's likely that she was hopeful at the end of WW1, but saw what mankind was really like with the next few wars that came after. She says "a century of horrors", implying that it wasn't just this particular war that made her walk away.
