why this Campea guy is so important? in the end whatever you say won't change his opinion, so in the end he still wins over you.

I don't know who he is but it turned the post about him in the last page, keep the good vibes of the movie instead...

He's a barely relevant commentator, pay him no mind, some folks on here and the rest of the interwebz pay attention to him because he's on a semi popular YouTube channel, but really he's irrelevant and his opinion on WW is worth nothing.

I'd like Jessica Chastain for Barbara Minerva/Cheetah but I think they'd go for a British actress.

Apparently there was a women-only screening of Wonder Woman in Austin, Texas that men wanted to go to.

It's like men complaining about not being able to attend a hen party.

Wonder Woman is supposed to be a universal hero...Patty Jenkins has said so herself.

Edit : To clarify I dont have a problem with them having women only screenings. They have also done "Veterans only" screenings before for war movies and such.

It's the same principle as people whining about not being able to be included of stuff because of race or whatever. The majority hate being in the minority.

I get both arguments of that. I don't like the idea of any hero being male or female in terms of who they hit the market for.

I'll be honest, when I got home I started googling images of male wonder woman costumes, as I think it could be a super cool take on the character...so far just cross dressers, but I'm sure someone will do it.

“Apologies, gentlemen, but we’re embracing our girl power and saying ‘No Guys Allowed’ for one special night at the Alamo Ritz. And when we say ‘Women (and People Who Identify As Women) Only,’ we mean it. Everyone working at this screening — venue staff, projectionist, and culinary team — will be female.”

If they really wanted to attend, this would've been their loophole to get in. If I lived anywhere near there, I would've been tempted to do it myself :oldrazz:

Walked in wearing my tiara and bustier...."sisters doing it for themselves, hey gurl!"

Little do they know......:o

But that doesn't mean that you can't have special events for one sex. What about when people have a girls' or guys' night out or weekend away? It's not like being universal needs to mean being inclusive for absolutely every event.

Soon we'll be hearing of single parent meetings with married couples, orchestras with non musicians, paralympics with non-disabled athletes, comic conventions with horse breeders etc. :o

Even for this thread, when it says "All Things Wonder Woman: An Open Discussion", the open discussion bit doesn't mean discussion about Spider-Man, motorbikes, baby clothing, furniture etc.

Like I said, I have no problem with them having this event...I just have a problem with some of this "labelling".

If its okay for a special screening of Wonder woman for girls, and a special screening of Dunkirk for war veterans(both of which I have personally no qualms with)...will it be "problematic" if they held a special screening of a
"typical guy's movie" just for guys? Or will that be labelled sexist? I dont know, but probably. Personally I dont have a problem with them having a special screening for any minority/majority/group etc. I just find the different standards fascinating. One might say these different standards exist because of how society is...

That is completely beside the point...and not analogous at all.

We need a Silence of the Lambs slot reserved only for certified serial killers.

It's all supporting Wonder Woman in the end and if the men don't like they got hundreds other theaters to attend on the 6th (4 days after the opening day)

That would be something...kind of like that Nic Cage movie on that Plane...cant remember its name.

To clarify, this screening is happening on June 6th.
I would somehow understand the anger around this if it was happening on the premier date but it's on the next Tuesday. Hardly something to get upset about...
