We need a Silence of the Lambs slot reserved only for certified serial killers.

Like I said, I have no problem with them having this event...I just have a problem with some of this "labelling".

If its okay for a special screening of Wonder woman for girls, and a special screening of Dunkirk for war veterans(both of which I have personally no qualms with)...will it be "problematic" if they held a special screening of a
"typical guy's movie" just for guys? Or will that be labelled sexist? I dont know, but probably. Personally I dont have a problem with them having a special screening for any minority/majority/group etc. I just find the different standards fascinating. One might say these different standards exist because of how society is...

That is completely beside the point...and not analogous at all.

Well, the point is about being inclusive vs exclusive, and some people want to be included in everything even if they don't fit into that category. Or they will want the meeting to broaden its scope to include everything. So, for example, some people are clearly not musicians, artists etc, but will still demand to be included in things tailored specifically for musicians or artists or to be recognised as such people. Or, if they acknowledge they aren't in these categories, they will demand that the scope of the meeting/ group be changed so that it isn't so narrow but has a much wider focus in order to be more inclusive.

So it's not just about gender but about any group. But you wouldn't be able to do anything if you didn't sometimes have that narrower focus.

As for special screenings of guys' movies for men only, I'm pretty sure that has been done on stag parties/ bachelor weekends.

Con Air ?

Yeah that was it...Pretty entertaining movie as far as I remember, saw it way back :woot:

Anyway, I would like to move on from that discussion. The more screenings for WW, the better. I have no problems with a screening like that, more so since its quite a while after it opens, and not as if men are being denied something here.
My point was something entirely else, for which this is not the correct thread.

Anyway, was anyone else hoping they would sneak in something JL related before/after this movie, like Logan with that Deadpool tease? Maybe a JL IMAX prologue?

campea still wont give gadot credit lol

I think he gave enough credit to her. Given he was absolutely against her in the past, I would even consider it a glowing opinion. Honestly, I have the same impression after the clips. I'm grateful she doesn't take away from the film, it was my hope considering how weak she is as an actress. Like Campea said, it's strong directing, strong writing and strong supporting cast - all of that allowed to mask Gadot's limited abilities. Gadot of course tried her best, but she can only do so much.

No. This is about Wonder Woman Justice League will have plenty of time to promote itself. One of the great things about this film is that it is really a standalone and adding a JL tease would have taken away from that.

That's awesome! I'm going to the IMAX to see this one and I hope the theater experience is just as great.

Oh and I should say...Diana gives Steve a look after the dance sequence that will make every boy and girl hit instant puberty. I kid you not.

Will I be okay seeing that in the theater? Can a man hit puberty twice..?

Did they keep this shot? Hope so bc I absolutely loved it.

Please tell me this is shown after the credits have rolled. That would be a perfect 'see-yah' for the audience!

Apparently there was a women-only screening of Wonder Woman in Austin, Texas that men wanted to go to.

I could be saying 'that's awesome', so much right now!

Okay, that's awesome!!

And maybe all the guys who want to go are just looking for dates?:cwink:

Sorry but that isnt true at all. She isnt being "masked" her acting is right up there with anyone else's in the film.

Have you seen the film yet because if you havent you really cant comment on her acting no offense.

I don't think he has. He just mentioned the clips he's seen.

To those of you who have seen the movie, did you see it in 3D or normally?

The IMAX Theater here only shows it in 3D and I usually prefer to see movies not in 3D...

I'd also like to know if it's better to see in 3D or just normal.

Is there much advantage to seeing it 3D? I'll probably end up seeing it that way anyway, but it's nice to not have to wear glasses for the screening.

Why?

LA premiere today.

I wonder if bald Whedon and Batfleck will show up. Shame on you all for spending so much time on Campea. That guy has no effect on box office or RT. Just a nerd with a show.

I am tired of seeing this. His opinion on her acting is not the main issue. The main issue for me is all of his contradictions about her casting. How the hell is Campea going to bash Gal Gadot's acting and then suggest Gina Carano? How does someone body shame Gal Gadot and then proceed to stan Jaime Alexander? Is it really professional to make fun of Gal Gadot on twitter because she made a spelling mistake after she was cast as WW?

This isn't terribly complicated.

The man is either just biased (good chance), isn't qualified to judge good acting, or has a very strict idea of what good acting entails, and she falls outside of his criteria. We've seen plenty of people talking about how she's "monotone", one note, etc.

A lot of people have this mentality that being really energetic and animated equals "good acting", especially in the superhero genre.

That's just not always the case. Truly excellent, convincing acting requires energy and accessibility, but not always "look at me" levels of energy, and the ability to be subtle. And timing. Poise. Presence.

Gadot has many of these things "naturally". She also has a ton of energy that she carries and conveys, especially with her body language.

If you go back to when she was cast, people were complaining about her pedigree, and some of pulled the "Do you really think WB just screentested and then cast someone who can't act or can't act the part?" card.

Pretty sure WB knew what they had early on. They didn't hesitate to give this woman a solo film to anchor, to make her central to Justice League, and to feature her prominently in BVS.

I didnt feel like the Deadpool tease took anything away from Logan, and I say that as a huge Logan fan and a not a big fan of Deadpool. Its not part of the movie, so it doesnt take anything away imo.

I was driving to pick up my kid from school and at a billboard right at one of the busiest intersections a WW trailers was playing!

We're already getting a WW sequel, its called Justice League. :sly:
Seriously, if they can get a WW sequel set up quickly it will mean we get a great dose of WW in reasonably close movies. I am all up for that.
