That's a very good point.
A very good point indeed.

Though I wouldn't want to see an entire film set on Themyscira, either. But I definitely do want to see it again.

I actually wouldn't mind if they did. They could basically do a big greek mythology type story with her, and it'd be a good way to self contain the film from the rest of the JL.

And regardless of whether the sequel is set in the past or present, I sincerely hope we're not done with Themyscira. I can't imagine them using villains like Circe, Cheetah, or Giganta without it.

If she goes back to Themyscira it would explain

where she was during WWII. In this movie she didn't even know that WWI was going on until Steve Trevor told her. If she's sheltered in Themyscira, she won't know of the existence of another world war.

They should set the sequel in Themyscira as it's a magical place and looked so much more picturesque than other locations in the film.
Well you would THINK,
After Defeating Ares, she WOULD return to Themiscrya to inform her Mother she had completed what she was born to do. It would explain alot, maybe even train her more now that she KNOWS she's the God Killer

Is Themyscira just the city or the whole archipelago? Isn't the archipelago loosely called the Paradise Islands? Because if Themyscira is just the city, then Diana could explore the other islands which could have different scenery and other hidden dangers. Maybe she's never visited them before.

Although in the film

it almost seems that Themyscira is the whole island and Steve Trevor simply refers to it informally as Paradise Island as a nickname for it.

Yes, it would definitely be a way to keep it self contained without needing reference to the JL. They could even set it in modern day but in Themyscira, and it would still look like in ancient times.

Which is why I can't wait to see Diana interact with Aquaman. The Zeus and Poseidon connections

Remember when before, people speculated whether the Amazons were really Kryptonians who had settled on an island somewhere, and everything was related to Superman? Well maybe now, with the success of WW, everything will stem out of Greek mythology and the Amazons, and Aquaman and the Atlanteans will be related to them.

My personal fantasy is for them to do a movie on Themyscira where the Atlanteans invade. Then have it as Aquaman vs Wonder Woman, Atlanteans vs Amazons.

Just got out of Wonder Woman. It was great! Even the third act that I went into expecting to be a drag wasn't! It was actually one of my favorite moments of the movie just for the dialogue and selfless sacrifices displayed. I will say the Themyscira bits were short lived. I wanted to see more. Nonetheless, I am satisfied with the movie. On paper, the story of the movie would seem very cookie cutter with your basic superhero tropes from heroic symbolism to sub par villains but it's all that and more. ;)

CGI was a bit iffy but I really liked the 3rd act as well.

Yeah in the comics it makes sense. But if you leave after your initial outing due to giving up, leaving again doesnt make sense.

A threat to Themyscira forces Hippolyta to allow Diana's return to the island, and the film ends with Hippolyta formally establishing Diana as the Themysciran ambassador to the world. This causes a divide amongst the Amazons, leading to an Amazonian civil war in the third film.

I may be going a bit off topic here but what are examples of movies that utilize CGI well? I honestly cannot tell the difference between good and bad CGI, maybe I have bad eyes or something lol. I didn't find anything wrong with the CGI in the third act.

Leaving where the who the whatnow?

There are all kinds of reasons that make sense as to why she would travel between worlds.

I'd be down for having the final confrontation in the sequel being set on Themyscira this time for sure.

I'm just having a hard time imagining a scenario in which an entire film would need to be set there.

Who says she's returning there because she gave up? If her mission was complete she'd return to be with her family.

I was not bothered by CGI.

Though the best CGI company (ILM) is owned by Disney now and they mostly work on Marvel and Star Wars films. So, CGI will be always sub par to those in DC movies but I don't care.

I'm hoping they get Weta Digital for the sequel (assuming Cheetah's involvement), but I imagine they'll be tied up for James Cameron's eighty Avatar sequels.

I'm not sure CGI was a big problem per se.

Maybe it was not technically great, but on the whole I thought the finale was a bit static and visually uninspired.

There was probably more to that than just the quality of the CGI being a bit low.

Anyway, I thought the movie was great overall.

I don't know about that Idea. I can see it, but, I would personally would have liked ANOTHER race older than the Kryptonians being the "seed" race of both worlds

What would make her leave her home again though?
What would be keeping her THERE?

Diana had finished her "mission", what is really keeping her WITH the Amazons at this point? You saw it in their eyes ever so briefly, she is DIFFERENT from them, it was even mentioned she isn't an Amazon.
I can see Zeus informing Hippolyta of the Parademon threat, but not being very specific about WHEN

Remember what was said in the JL Trailer "they're Already HERE" Diana may have been tracking the Parademons for YEARS. It even sounded like she had already battled them before BvS

The movie had nice shout out to Edgar Rice Burroughs, whose novels were written around the time movie was set (1918)

I'm just trying to make sense of this film coinciding with what we heard in BvS. Diana has seemed to built a life for her in Mans World, sure she could come and go but her wanting to come back going by that logic is a tiiinnny bit hard for me to think around. Unless she returns and determines that her Themiscrya just doesn't fulfill her anymore.

That would make sense since we know the Amazons have fought them in the past and Diana stated she has killed being from other worlds.
