You know one thing did occur to me:
When she types "thank you for giving him back to me" to Bruce at the end, he's probably not going to know who she's talking about. Because the film makes it seem like she's simply thinking back on the events to herself, as opposed to telling them to Bruce. And their are three other guys in that picture with her and Steve.

Not a big deal mind you, but amusing to note nonetheless.

He's the world's greatest detective. I'm sure he'll connect the dots. ;)

Duh, the handsome above average white guy of course:o

WW should be able to get some nominations for technical awards e.g. scores, editing, costumes, best visual effects which is like a nod to the commercial blockbusters.

It's not going to get best visual effects :woot:
Best bet is costume design.

People around here were all "I haven't seen this film getting over praised at all (those folks really need to see the review thread). But, really... People are throwing around Oscar noms or WINS for best picture?

I like the film It's solid and well done. Great realization of WW. The director, the production design, the cast and it's lead actress delivered where they needed to...But Best Picture worthy?

Not best pic worthy, but i think we underestimate how much the folks in the biz actually liked the film. It definitely is a shake up on the inside, hopefully more opportunity for others in the long run, so showing oscar love only proves that etc. I just feel like its in their best interest for some folks on the inside to do so. So when that night comes, I'm not going to be surprised if WW gets in for some noms in other departments. The whole women empowerment thang, ya dig? If most of the female voters go for it then its pretty much a lock for a Jenkins nom imo. I have seen the power of women united. I have seen a pair of strippers beat the issh out of a none paying customer. Even if i don't think Jenkins deserves a nom, I won't complain if it happens.

Folks still salty over that Skwad oscar tho! Lawd.

There have been many movies and actors nominated and have even won when the 'popular' opinion was they weren't worthy of it. They'll pick who they'll pick. And just like with Suicide Squad, we all will deal with who won whether you think they should have or not.

I thought they just use the visuals category to award a commercially successful movie?

Or to slap superhero movies in the face by awarding Intestellar instead of 4 other superhero movies in that anti-superhero themed Oscar show.:cwink:

Commercially successful movies are usually the ones who put a lot of focus and budget into visuals so it does make sense as one area where they would have a decent chance. Apart from sound, I'm not sure where else most CBMs might compete for Oscars. The Oscars might be anti-superhero to an extent but I'm not sure if we did a Hype vote every year that we would actually designate many CBMs to be worthy of too many Oscars. Heath Ledger for best supporting actor (which he got) and maybe TDK for a Best Film nomination (which it didn't get, but almost out of embarrassment the number of nominations were doubled from the next year onwards).

Pretty much ya, the TDK situation is just hideous really.

CBM is more competitive in the technical awards, I think TDK got a bunch of nominations in 2008. I don't know, if a superhero movie were to be nominated for acting/best picture, I feel it has to be pretty art-house, quiet, tackling either gender/color/equality/social commentary or personal reflection etc and that's got flop written all over it :oldrazz:

Haha, Infinity War sounds like the perfect time to try that. Have it focus on Hawkeye having a good long think about the meaning of life in his barn.

This sounds more interesting than what we will get. :oldrazz:

One thing certain fans of the genre fail to see is that, generally speaking, super hero films don't usually have the best stories, plots or acting. It's just as simple as that. They might be very popular, but they're hardly the greatest examples of what a well crafted and interesting story is. And guess who's popular too? Justin Bieber.

And you know what? Super hero movies don't deserve to win or be nominated to any sort of major oscar. You know why? They don't try hard enough. They're content with reproducing formulas that are proven to make money. In many people's minds that's really not a great example of art, and that's why we don't see them winning oscars. There are a lot of smart, creative and daring movies out there that result from the inspiration of great artists, and those are the ones that deserve the spotlight. Not a "more of the same" type of story that needs 200 million dollars to be told. It's like wanting a Mcdonalds to earn 3 michelin stars.

Lol, a Hawkeye 30M spin off about Clint reflecting all the lives he took, especially when he went rogue, his relationship with his wife, conflicts with his kids about not spending enough time with them, fights with mother in law, affair with Natasha on missions, having laughs with kids on the farm with cows and piggies, and deciding to go back to join the Infinity War because Jeremy Renner has an addiction to danger and near death experiences. Directed by Katherine Bigelow. Guest starring RDJ.

Oscar nomination and break even worldwide on opening weekend confirmed

Thus only studios with balls to make a superhero movie mainstream balk at that will have a chance at the big prize =P

Though some guys I talked to reckon Justin is very talented, lol, I am no expert on music though

I hope so.

Here's an interesting article on WW and amazon's costume design -

http://www.wesonerdy.com/2017/06/26/guest-post-wonder-woman-costume-design/

I think Lindy got a nomination before, was it TDK? Very cool article, definitely worth a look at for the nom by blending armory with CBM for a pop culture icon and her family. Funny how last year my friend was like "why is she wearing so little, god!" but this year she is doing WW block pose with my child, lol.

Are they allowed to vote for themselves or their own movie? Or do they have to vote for someone else by default? I feel that Gal will probably vote for someone else because she would be too nice to vote for herself.

I see huge potential in Clint's mother in law being the villain that the MCU has been waiting for. The problem with many of these world ending team up films is that need to go bigger and bigger every time, with the audience eventually glazing over. So as suggested by others previously, the stakes could be smaller this time and Infinity War could focus on a domestic issue like a bust up over a boiled egg that Clint has boiled too hard, counter to his mother-in-law's ideal preferences.

I would watch the hell out of this movie. :woot:

From the article:

Yeah, those wedge heels were so functional that in some scenes you could clearly tell Gadot and the stunt actresses were not even wearing them. :hehe:

I think most people are aware of that. Nothing in comic book movie is 100 % functional. it's a trade-off between (function vs fashion) what will look good onscreen and what seems to be practical without sacrificing comic book aesthetics. For instance Batman's costume with a cape is not functional for fighting crime and yet the material used for his costume (sans the cape and cowl)are designed to allow greater flexibility to perform action scenes.

Some of the articles about the costumes, and interviews with Jenkins, have actually discussed the wedge heals quite a bit.

They obviously struggled somewhat with the idea, but it seems to be one area where they made a concession to the fantasy element as a priority over practicality.

Hemming talks about designing the boots to have a functional feel to them, in spite of the heels.
