At this point, isn't far too soon even for rumors..?:whatever:

I'd start listening to rumors after we hear the script has finished its last rewrite.

I read the rumors too, and am a bit conflicted. 1st I'd love for the character that they hinted at returning, returning, I'd find it difficult under the circumstances.

When Diana is in the Louvre, she's remembering the man she lost in WWI. It wouldn't make much sense for her to have interaction with him, other then a possible flashback, in the 80s. with mythology, there is always ways to bring characters back from the dead, but I would have preferred it be in the modern era if that were the case. The Cold War climate might work if Diana is exploiting more her Diana Prince secret agent persona, but I'm not super impressed by the Cold War setting. I really do hope it is positively received, assuming it's happening, which I think is pretty likely.

In a way though I don't see Cheetah or Circe fitting into a Cold War setting, so it may not involve them at all. I'd be more inclined to explore an actual storyline in Diana's history then invent one. (Don't get me wrong, this last one was great, so if it's another that's nothing bad, but representing the comic storylines does help too.)

There are so many rumors swirling around these movies that I wouldn't put much stock in it for the moment.

Thewrap has reported the rumour about WW2 being set in 1980 too.

Let's not forget that The Wrap article was written by Umberto Gonzalez who got a few things wrong about the first WW movie when he was working at Heroic Hollywood:

http://heroichollywood.com/hot-rumor-what-the-villain-is-after-in-wonder-woman/

http://heroichollywood.com/hot-rumor-sean-bean-eva-green-eyed-for-villain-roles-in-wonder-woman/

Also stuff about Chris Pine being Green Lantern, Scott Eastwood as Steve Trevor in Suicide Squad.

Also sites like JoBlo got some details right about WW but also some wrong:

http://www.joblo.com/movie-news/exclusive-spoilery-details-on-wonder-woman-plot-characters-more-148

So it's too early to really know and even big sites get major details quite wrong.

I don't care what era the movie is set as long as Diana has her full powers but Steve Trevor does not need to come back. Ever.

I read the article and this story proposal doesn't make a lick of sense given what happened in WW. No credible sources are even talking about this.

She can fly already. But the 80s thing about being a spy is reminiscent of they stripped WW of her powers in the 60s or 70s and she wore a white catsuit. I aint trying to see that.

Diana is grieving about Steve in WW telling Bruce thank you for bringing him back to me but he comes back in the 80s and what dies again? Nonsense.

I doubt that they would ever do that again and strip WW of her powers, after the uproar that caused at the time and people still complain about. But I can see them doing the mod/spy thing again. Even if at the least purely for fashion or a throwback/reference.

I do not want to see the I-Ching era represented. They did that for the failed WW movie with Cathy Lee Crosby before the Lynda Carter version. It was not well received.

I could see some sort of nod at some point, but de-powering the character for the sequel feels extremely unlikely to me.

The origin story was largely about the character discovering her powers, so undoing that immediately would be a very strange choice. Probably not going to happen.

Eh, Patty has earned the trust to do whatever the hell she wants at this point. Set in the 80s or any time period now. You bald bastahs better follow her now, you have made yo graves.

OMGees they are goings to retcon Wonder Woman :cmad:

In full seriousness, yeah it makes no sense. But then again, its screen rant.

Finally managed to see this tonight and I'm really impressed by what Jenkins and the crew pulled off, I'm quite intrigued to see where they go next with the future WW projects.

Yeah. I don't know what to make of these rumors, but I do know I trust Patty Jenkins, and that's all I need to know.

The Wrap was just parroting an article that first appeared in Screen Rant, as is every other blog.

"Screenrant, first reported the sequel’s setting."

And if you go to the Screen Rant article they list no sources for their claim.

"According to production details Screen Rant has learned"

Learned from whom? The night janitor?

Could all be fake but the original scoop is from Jeff Sneider though who is pretty reliable, he was talking about it on the YouTube thing he does

200 mil in $?

Yes $200 mil US dollars

Ha, I kind of like it. As a known to be temporary depowering for a specific challenge I don't think it would necessarily be that bad. I love seeing these guys train and like being able to believe that they'd be deadly just from the extensive and legendary levels of training even without powers. Plus the fashion angle doesn't hurt either. :woot:

In Patty I trust....In Patty I trust...

And still no credible entertainment site has confirmed this. Patty has recently said she wants to do the sequel in the present. Depowering her is stupid and Patty has said she wants to showcase WW's powers more in future films. The only thing that doesn't make any sense about this 80s thing is Chris Pine. It seems like something tacked on for clicks. Gods bringing him back but not Antiope is stupid and it mesh with the continuity of the first film.

It's pretty clearly going to be set in modern day, maybe featuring some ambassador elements.

They're going to want to continue her story from JUSTICE LEAGUE, not move backward.

Nothing is certain. Patty has confirmed nothing except that she wants to set it in America. The rest has been interpretation of her comments, where she is obviously trying not to give much away.

It's going to seem disjointed as hell if Wonder Woman keeps jumping from the present to the past. In the Wonder Woman movie it sort of had to jump back to the past from Batman v Superman to set up her origin.
But after Justice League it sort of ruins the pacing to have Wonder Woman in the past yet again. Like are there no current threats that deserve her attention?
