All Things Wonder Woman: An Open Discussion - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Part 25

Seriously...your constant doom and gloom is as hilarious as it is misguided.

They added months to BvS' production and filming time and that didn't do them any favors either. They rushed SS and it sucked. They moved UP WW's release date, and it came out great.

You'll make a good movie if you are capable of making that good movie.

Sorry but it just seems like you are looking for a reason to knock a movie and a universe for no reason.

I get that there has been a lot of negativity regarding the DCEU movies prior to Wonder Woman, and fans are understandably a bit sensitive about that. But there is also a level of defensiveness that can get a bit absurd at times.

The story making sense obviously matters.

To take the example of Captain America, he was a hero in the past, then he awoke in the present, and that experience was crucial to his portrayal moving forward.

It defines his character interactions in the ensemble movies, and Cap adjusting to the modern world was a big theme of Winter Soldier, the Captain America sequel.

So the question of what Diana has been doing for the last 100 years is hardly some kind of esoteric consideration, or "continuity porn" or whatever.

She hasn't been frozen in ice, so the writers are going to have to think about what her experiences have been, how other characters will perceive her, and so on. What were her motivations? I doubt it will be that she got depressed and didn't do anything for a century.

I didn't mean to stir the Marvel vs. DC pot with my earlier comment, I could have probably found a different way of making the point.

Some japanese marketing.

I love that outfit. All the design cues on it are fantastic!

Patty's next up will be directing a six episode mini series with Pine.So she's not going to be working on WW2 straight away?

I mean, she's gonna have stuff on her plate to do besides Wonder Woman-related work. That's just the life of a director.

If there are any deleted scenes from this Chris Pine drama, Patty can just use them for WW2.

Palate cleanser. Going from one Wonder Woman movie straight to another probably isn't the best idea for your creativity. Don't blame her for tackling something very different, before returning to it. Pretty common practise.

TNT is under Turner Broadcasting, which is a subsidiary of Time Warner. Warner Bros is also a subsidiary of Time Warner. I wonder if the reason Patty hasn't signed on yet for WW2 is because she has been negotiating her passion project(s) getting picked up. A symbiotic relationship, if you will.

What is going on with Patty & WB? She recently liked these two tweets on twitter.

I.e give me more money peoples. It's a negotiating tactic.

Has anyone noticed how many films coming out this year have the word "Wonder" in it?

Apart from Wonder Woman, there's "Professor Marston and the Wonder Women" in October, "Wonder" in November and "Wonder Wheel" in December. Maybe that will keep Wonder Woman in the minds of viewers all year round.

Guys, don't forget that the drama is being produced by TNT, which is owned by Time Warner (who also owns Warner Brothers). And I remember her saying in an interview that directing television is quicker and more lucrative than developing a feature film, so this is a 'breather' before she goes all in on WW2.

So Jenkins has likely finalized a deal which gives her a first-look TV deal as well as the WW sequel. And remember, the article says that Patty is only slated to direct the pilot, but may direct the subsequent episodes.

So even if she directs all six episodes, she'll likely be done by early 2018. And by then, she'll have already read several drafts of Johns' sequel script and start early prep work. Jenkins has time and WB is willing to work with her.

Patty's husband, Sam Sheridan, is writing the series. Of course she'd do it, why wouldn't she?

Ambitious, but no. Look, Wonder Woman is a fantastic film, but I'd hardly call it award worthy. Still, with the maximum number expanded unlike in 2009 when WB pushed for The Dark Knight, I don't see this film getting a Best Picture nomination. Even on a technical level, this film doesn't do what something like a Fury Road did. Still, admirable for WB to give it a shot. If it gets a Best Picture nod, great, but I don't see it happening.

If WB are going to push an Academy Awards campaign, then they better make damn sure to hire Patty Jenkins for the sequel and not lowball her.

They already had an Oscar winner for costuming, so it is possible it might be her year again.

Hell, maybe they're waiting until the fall to announce her return for that very reason. It bolsters the narrative.

I hope Professor Marston and the Wonder Women doesn't end up with the Oscar nod instead. That comes out in the Fall btw.

Jenkins is repped by CAA, we all remember what happened last time WB negotiated with a CAA director
