Comics Amazing Spider-Man #600 discussion thread

And ol JJJ, just the same from start to finish, he rarely can change his look at all.

Except they finally phased out the hitler mustache he used to sport. Smart move on their part. (oh, and I guess he gave up the stinky cigars as well, since no Marvel characters smoke anymore)

They did?? He had it in "24/7" and has it in "Dark Reign - Sinister Spider-Man".

Nope. It's just artist preference. Kinda like Mj and her bangs.

John Romita Jr let slip a few little details about Doc Ock in the upcoming issue #600:

The artist enthused that getting the chance to play with a slightly tweaked version of long-standing villain Doctor Octopus also provided a challenge. "I was given the instructions to go creepier. It's not a permanent version of Doc Ock. It's a present version, but I don't have a problem with it because it's a good story idea. It's interesting.

Well, Ock's new look is going to be creepier, which sounds great, but it's not going to be permanent. No doubt he finds a cure for his radiation poisoning that we saw in the preview.

I really need to try out this "Invincible" comic...

...aaaaand I did. :)

Literally JUST finished reading issue #63, and I'm all caught up now!

Wow! ...Great comic! :D

REALLY?! CRAP! I'm not even caught up yet. :csad:
Between work, my pull list and posting on here I haven't had time to.
I have a whole stack of comics I'm still trying to catch up on.
I'm glad you enjoy it though! :yay::up:

There's an old-school Marvel Cover Issue Number Box thingy on the page that the pen is laying on. With no reprints in this book, I'm curious as to what THAT'S for?

A bunch of Marvel writers like Ed Bubaker and Matt Fraction came up with ideas for Spider-Man covers that never were. Maybe that's what it is is.

Spider-ManHero12, I have a mole inside Marvel called S. Wacker. No wait that's too obvious, Steven W.

That's a lie, but it sounds better than twitter.

Sorry for the stupid question guys, but the release date for 600 is this Wednesday (July 15th) right? I live in Toronto btw.

Also, I have a subscription, but would you guys recommend actually heading to the CBS and picking this up in person?

Afraid not. July 15th is the release date for #599. Issue #600 is out on the 22nd, which is the following wednesday.

The 15th was originally supposed to be the release date for #600. But they pushed it back.

Thanks man. I saw the July 22 release date in some places and thus got confused.

Well here you go folks, MORE preview pages from issue #600, including some from the back-up stories, courtesy of IGN:

My reaction?

Well, at least it's a interesting twist in that Daredevil DOESN'T want to know who Spider-Man really is. And the joke involving Blindside trying to take out Daredevil was a little amusing.

It seems that it's going to move at a pretty fast pace for a oversized story, which is good. But I'm already seeing how Dan Slott's story could play out, perhaps, so it could come across as being a bit predictable.

Stan Lee back-up, no offense, is not exactly an original story for Spider-Man, especially since he's done something similar with him TWICE when he originally wrote the comic

And Madame Web? Really? Hmm, maybe she was supposedly the one who actually caused the psychic blindspot? Or perhaps she's going to be the one who will sense something really bad coming as a result of One More Day and realizes she has to warn Spider-Man?

Still, that's just my take.

That preview looks sweet!

I love Romita Jr's artwork. I can't wait to see his Doc Ock in this story.

I'm actually looking forward to picking this one up.
One thing, that gets to me is...

Why wouldn't Daredevil ask how he got the genie back in the bottle? Other than that its pretty fair that he would choose to not learn his identity again. Although for DD its like telling Wolverine to ignore that Peter Parker and Spider-man's scent are the same. So I'm sure he'll learn again one day.

EDIT: WAIT A MINUTE?!!!

How does the Psychic blindspot-reverse affect DD if he can't see Peter's face??!

Because it's a blindspot in memory, not a literal blindspot.

Did you read the FF issue?

Here's a direct quote.

"...All right. I gotta warn you, the way this works...once you see me, it'll all come back to you. You'll remember everything.

He also further explains that any "evidence" connecting Peter Parker to Spider-man will be ignored because of the mind wipe.

C'mon Trianglehead I thought you loved this stuff.... :o

No, I definitely read the issue. My bad. I thought that you were asking "if the mindwipe makes people forget they ever saw Peter as Spider-Man, how does that make DD forget if he's never seen his face anyway?". But re-reading your comment, I see now you're asking "if it takes seeing Peter's face as Spider-Man to get the memories back and bypass the block, how will DD ever find out who Peter is?".

And to answer that question...well nobody knows yet. lol This was actually brought up in the thread about that issue, and some people have tossed around some ideas:

Oh, speaking of blindspots, can daredevil ever get his memories back, since you apparently need to see pete unmask for the devil magic to reverse?

And methinks that if DareDevil hears Peter's heartbeat, as opposed to the visual of his face, then it might come back...

I think it's all a bit of a nitpick (albiet a funny one.) i think it has more to do with Peter's intent, whether it be a smell, telepathy or sight. It sure would be nice to know who was the mindwipe accomplice.......
