I'm utterly lost with what they're doing with Hughie right now. Last week he went through a multi-layered sexual assault that the showrunner thought was "hilarious," and now he goes through sexual assault AGAIN in circumstances that would entirely **** up a person. Kripke has talked about how important it was to get Starlight's SA experience right and be as respectful as possible. You're supposed to have that same respect for male victims, not treat it as a damn running gag. As if it wasn't already ingrained in our culture that men are supposed to deal with sexual violence with either humor or gratitude, which is a horrible stereotype that this show is now all too happy to perpetuate. They've lost the plot. The one thing separating this show from the comic was the intelligence and empathy it had, no matter how outlandish or violent these episodes would get. Now it's just the comic.
Sadly, you are very correct. He should be a mess right now and its like he just shrugged it off. I honestly didn'tfind much in that scene funny at all.

Yeah while I really enjoyed the first 3 or 4 episodes it's become apparent to me that this show has pretty much gone off the rails like many great shows have over the years.

Now maybe it's just me but it feels a lot more mean spirited now and honestly to me it seems like they are way more focused on the gore gags and gross out humor than actually crafting a cohesive, compelling story this season.

I'm still mostly enjoying it but even if the finale is a banger this is still by far the weakest season IMO. I just hope Season 5 is better but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Yeah, I feel I've been more disappointed by stuff this season than the earlier ones. Like the issue with above mentioned sexual assualt. That also sadly made me feel less about Ashley, considering how gross she was. And I always thought she was a very interesting character, especially regarding her position and what she had to deal with on a daily basis. I hope they don't turn this show into making it more about shock value and gore than good story writing and great characters before it ends. I still do like most of the characters, and already feel sad for what fate A-Train might meet in the future. And yes, Deep should've died during that fight.

I agree with the opinion that the show has gotten crueler and closer to the comic after back to back sexual assaults on Hughie and Annie chained up in what looks like a serial killer dungeon. It also seems as though it is getting stupider like the comic as well. How did Tek Knight, the man with superhuman senses, not notice that Webweaver was missing his spinneret? And how did Homelander’s super hearing miss A Train and the gunshot at the mansion? As Kripke and his team have gotten darker the plot holes are adding up as well.

Season 4 is the worst season of the show so far.

The two new members of The Seven are underwhelming, especially compare to the new cast members/super-powered regulars in season 2 and 3.

Right now, I'm just waiting for this to wrap up in season 5. I have no interest in the spin offs.

He has the awareness of a child. He eventually knew it was Annie as the shifter but he allowed them to leave to get water. What if the shifter decided to touch someone and switch at that time. I know he has been through a lot this season and hasn't dealt with any of it really.

Bullets don't hurt it but a choke hold takes it out? I get it but Kimiko could have done that...I get it being Annie's fight but her depleted self got free and got the the Singer place like she was A-Train. It made the fight stupid.

Haven't watched the finale yet, but I agree this season isn't the best

If they focused only on the Butcher, Homelander, and A-Train stuff it would be pretty great, but all the other character's plots are pretty lackluster

In defense of the comics, at least they knew what they were, an over-the-top outright gross-out parody. And even then Hughie had some massive trauma from his experiences that took him a lot of time to get through, it wasn't just "make a joke and move on". This show tries to be a semi-serious drama, so the way it drops these issues feels more jarring than it would have in the comic. Yet the comic still handled it better.

Finale was ok. Didn't like what happened right before the end. Not surprised how it ended though.

We were very light on any good supe fights which was really disappointing.

If next season isn't a Supes civil war with some interesting good supes...it'll be disappointing as well.

I was underwhelmed by the finale but given that next season is the last, some heavy handed cliffhangers and unfinished business were to be expected. I guess the most shocking thing about it was Neuman going out like that..

Agree with Primal and Drizzle that finale was abit of a whimper. Season 5 better bring it because as i and others have said this season has had quite a few lows compared to highs and those highs haven't been reaching the levels that " the boys " are usually known for. Overall it is the worst season for me and the issues have been glaringly obvious, poor writing, plot holes, characterization, pointless filler, hyper sexualisation you name it. I dont want to be too harsh because this series really did blow the hinges off when most modern CBM were hitting fatigue ( for me personally)

Standouts have been A-train, Sister sage ,Neuman, Black Noir and Hughie's dad (Best performance in S4)

Hughie, Starlight and in particular Butcher were annoying compared to previous seasons.

It was a pretty solid finale, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't way more interested in what's going to happen in Gen V Season 2 than I am in The Boys Season 5 even though I know its coming to an end.

I'm still on board with this show but its definitely time to wrap things up.

I liked the last five minutes best, I am so on board with what next season hopefully brings. Maybe I'm just optimistic because I got what I wanted -- Frenchie and Kimiko! Finally ! [/Ispoiler ]

This season goes to show that not even 8 episodes keeps you bulletproof. It wasnt a GREAT season even with how short it was. It probably could've been better had it been 14 or so episodes.

22 episode seasons are not the villain.

And I cant even remember any GREAT Starlight moments. Its as if she barely used her powers apart from two or three little moments

This was easily the weakest season of the show for me, but I thought the finale was pretty great.
Sage returning, Butcher going full comic book, Starlight leveling up, Kimiko speaking, Neuman getting torn, Ryan teetering, the Murder ***** Bros, Ashley (Ashlee?) hulking out and the return of Love Sausage. All great stuff. I also appreciated the new political status of the Boys universe and the last minute swerve. Early prediction for next year - Ryan kills Billy

Wasn't able to finish finale earlier, but just did. I thought it was okay this was going to be a set up season for the finale. That will make it the weakest season, but I am expecting season 5 to basically have a big character die every episode. Hopefully they go out better than
Neumann, she is not a fighter but I expected a better end.
