Andor General News & Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS)

Stellan , while a great actor, must really have something over the higher ups at Disney. The amount of their productions he gets in are something.

'Star Wars': Cassian Andor Disney+ Series Adds Two Actors (Exclusive)

Genevieve O’Reilly and Denise Gough have joined the cast of Disney+’s untitled Rogue One: A Star Wars Story prequel spinoff series.

The series centers on Cassian Andor, who was the Rebel intelligence officer in Rogue One. Diego Luna is reprising the role for the series, which is set five years before the events of the 2016 movie.

Stellan Skarsgard and Kyle Soller are also cast.

O’Reilly will return to her role as Mon Mothma, the politician who worked to oppose Empire and helped found the Rebel Alliance.

Character details for Gough were not revealed.

While there is no start date for production, the series has undergone some creative shifts. THR has learned that Tony Gilroy, who co-wrote Rogue One, is now showrunning the series, with Stephen Schiff exiting that post.

Gilroy was already part of a writing team that includes brother Dan Gilroy (Nightcrawler), Beau Willimon (House of Cards), and Schiff.

Tony Gilroy will also direct the pilot and possibly a second episode, but like Disney+’s other Star Wars show, The Mandalorian, the goal is to have a stable of directors.

Would love it if we could get a cameo of Alden as the younger Han Solo. Even an episode based on Corelia.

There's a ton of great potential here for crossovers with characters from Solo or Rebels. Here's to finally getting a Live Action Hondo!

Take it with a grain of salt, but this would not be surprising.

Maybe we’ll finally get to see more of Alderaan outside of that one small scene in Revenge of the Sith.

That would be cool!
Nice, hope it's true.
Wanted Smits for the Obi-Wan series, but he absolutely fits here too.
Seeing some actual Alderan would be great.
Also where are the droids 3PO & R2 at this point?
Aren't they in the possession of Bail Organa?

I like the completely divergent yet parallel story lines represented by these two, as they both come to "die" in ANH. yet their ideals carried through their respective guided legacies in Luke & Leia,

Although his role caries over into Rouge One along with Mothma, so in the context of the Rebel Spy series he'd be a great addition.
Don't think him and Andor got to interact, but it would be an interesting dynamic, as this is where the "Rebellion" what they will or won't do is tested,.

Also the addition of Draven, who is the one mostly pulling Andor's strings, towards a path (as we learn) there is no coming back from.

I believe they were! :yay:

Didn’t care for Alden as Han

Personally I would love to see Donald Glover back as Lando though. Perhaps helping Cassian/The Rebels showing he already had a disdain for the Empire but wasn’t afraid to play both sides to his benefit

I thought Alden got better as the movie went on and would love to see him come back.

But hell yes to Glover as Lando also.

Didn’t care for Alden as Han

Agreed with this. He didn’t have the presence of Ford at all, and physically was just too damn short next to everyone.

At this point, I hope they keep Han out of these spinoffs. Glover as Lando on the other hand would be very welcome.

Better give Lando his own spinn-off series

I wonder if there's any chance of seeing Thrawn on this show? I need to see Lars Mikkelsen play him in live action at least once.

I would love this

Maybe have a way to bring Billy Dee back as well because he still got it! Loved the few scenes he had in RoS

The Lando series could very well just be a 6-8 limited one off series with both Billy Dee and Donald Glover jumping in between present and past

Still want to know why JJ thought Luke would take Lando of all people to go on Jedi adventures with...

...Luke didn’t need him as a pilot. Lando doesn’t have any force related skills.

I pose black series 6” Jedi Knight - Luke on my desk (standing on a piece of river rock) with R2 in tow behind him. Pretty much only envision Luke going on solo missions looking for Jedi artifacts with R2.

Unless of course some sort of ordeal came along and he needed more help from the group. Han was still doing stuff (Aftermath novels)... Yes, Leia was strictly governing usually, but I feel like after the Death Star II exploration... Lando would have gone back to playboy style stuff, while being a “better” man than before The Cloud City ordeal.

Maybe Luke just wanted someone he could trust and with no ties along for the ride?

Sometimes people just want a friend along with them. It doesn't have to be some big deep meaning.

Wonder how this fits into the release plan for D+.
If they start filming within the next two months, than they‘ll have it ready in probably fall 2021 - but that might coincide with a, already greenlit, 3rd season of Mandalorian.
Only if Mandalorian 3 gets pushed to a later release in , maybe spring 2021.
But I doubt it‘ll be two StarWars series within a few werks.
I suppose they rather want to mix it with MCU releases between, so both fanbases being kept entertained

I have mixed feelings about Deepfake Tarkin in Rogue One, there's shots where he almost looks legit, others where he looks a little "Polar Express", but I did enjoy the bickering between he and Krennic, and it would have been weird to have a movie in which the Death Star is so pivotal without having Tarkin show up in some capacity.
