The Force Awakens Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke - Part 1

Is it ME or does Snoke look like one of Marvel's Watchers?

Totally!

He was alright. I didn't feel threatened by him at all. There was no reason to be. I hope we see more of him in the next films.

I think that's what makes him so interesting. With the Emperor it was all about fear and control. Snoke seems far more manipulative.

I've seen the film 3 times now and Snoke has grown on me. I still don't believe for a second they couldn't accomplish the way he looks without practical makeup and effects. They could've done both (same goes for Maz). Sorry, but no way. At this point who cares though, I'm intrigued by this dude lol.

What I would love to see happen in the next film (or save it til the last film, EP 9) is Snoke to appear far smaller than he makes himself out to be. Just like the Wizard of OZ. How crazy cool would it be if we finally see him in person next to the other characters and he's the size of Maz? For all we know, they could be of the same race or species themselves (both are ancient and have very similar facial features, although Snoke is all cut up and damaged).

I would love to see the big bad be a smaller little guy for a nice (and unexpecting) contrast to what we've had before.

Yeah, I'm confused by that too. He's apparently not actually 25 feet fall (it was just a hologram) so that excuse doesn't work for making him all CGI. And he didn't really look THAT different from a human; they could have created his look with makeup.

I don't really care either way; just confused why they felt they need to go all CGI. Maybe they had a completely different design for him in mind but they just couldn't get it to work, and so they went with something a little more "normal" because they were too far along in the production process to go back and use practical effects.

I was a little disappointed the Snoke was a giant when i first saw him, then was relieve that he was just a hologram.

Was disappointed in him as well. He looked too CGI. I hope we get some explanation how he came into power. Is he a Sith Lord?

I wasn't bothered at all by the CGI, maybe because it was a hologram? I'll pay closer attention next time I see it.

He kind of reminded me of the alien at the end of the last Indiana Jones movie. Just too rubbery looking for something that is CGI.

Also, today in stupid theories about Snoke's identity: http://moviepilot.com/posts/3690499

A lot I dont see in there. That doesnt fit his style and the core of that character's being. Really it would be horrid..

As for the knights of Ren, I'll almost bet they came from dark side sympathetic recruits from the possible "Skywalker Academy."...especially if Kylo is their boss.

I just hope we see some version of a Fett next film.

Snoke like lots in the movie raised more questions than he answered but the way it was done I am fine with it.

If he's not really a giant, can we expect or hope for Snoke vs Rey or Luke?

Snoke's performance wasn't all that impressive to warrant an actor of Serkis' caliber either, that is unless the plan all along was give him a larger role in ep 8 and 9.

How threatened were you of the Emperor ever? Maybe after you see what he did in Jedi and what he did in Sith... but he was always this old man in a cloak. His apprentices were always the scary ones.

Well of course you'll see more of him in 8.

I think it's the other way around. In terms of interaction with the apprentice, Palpatine is more about manipulation than fear. Snoke, just don't know. I felt uncomfortable by him which was the effect they were probably going for. His deal to me was that he didn't NEED to instill fear, or manipulation tactics because he was cool, collected, seemed intelligent and most importantly, Cooly confident. He does seem "wise" as Ben said, but I loved him

This dude is old that much is for sure. DarthSkywalker mentioned how Luke being and finding the first Jedi temple may have something to do with him trying to find information about some Jedi and probably Sith history that may relate to Snoke.

If Snoke is that old he'll be an absolute force (no pun intended) to be reckoned with.

I don't know how he can be a Sith Lord. Who trained him? He seems as old as Palpatine was. So where was he hiding this whole time during the original trilogy? I hope we get some background on him.

That's what makes me think he is Sidious. He looks old enough to have been around for at least 60-90 years, and Palpatine and co were around at that time; so if he is an ancient Sith, like you said, where was he during the events of the PT/OT….?

He can't be Plagueis because Plagueis is a Munn, and Snoke clearly was not one.

My best guess is he's linked to Palpatine. Isn't it possible that Palpatine could have learned to cheat death? That was one of his ultimate goals…

Umm Plagueis is not a Munn. He was considered a Munn in a book that is no longer canon. So no he's not a Munn anymore. He's what ever they want him to be.

Unless he was played by Olivia Munn.

I have no interest in ever seeing Plagueis UNLESS he's played by Olivia Munn.

You know what I noticed about Snoke? He sounded an awful lot like the Witchking from Return of the King, another character that Andy Serkis provided the voice for.
