I didn't watched the show but, to put it mildly, I heard mixed things about Hathaway.

To be honest I'll never understand why she agreed to do it in the first place. She certainly doesn't need the exposure.

well... must be hard to refuse it when you're a rising star !

BRILLIANT!

Play up the psychopath angle, and maybe add some kind of cat power, like give her nine lives or something!

Here’s how I see Nolan is going with the direction of Ann Hathaway’s Selina Kyle

Hathaway’s Selina Kyle is going to start off as a mousy, nerdy, woman with no confidence and has very low self-esteem. She is constantly bullied and she doesn’t fight back or stand up for herself.

And it so happens that Hathaway’s kyle stumbles upon a top deadly secret.

In order to silence her, she is killed....but she isn’t dead.....a whole bunch of cats resurrect her, the cats exchange blood with her, breathe life into her...

Hathaway’s Kyle came back into her apartment, she starts screaming, she’s completedly nuts, haywire, crazy and she starts thrashing everything in her apartment....until everything in her apartment is wrecked and in a complete mess...

Then Hathaway’s Kyle pulls out an old leather jacket from her cupboard and began working on her catsuit....and thus ....catwoman is born...

I hope and I envision this is how Nolan will introduce Selina Kyle /Catwoman in Batman 3

There's something completely lost on your vision. You need to add some answering machine to the broth.

You are judging her as an actor and person based on her hosting an awards show.

Does Franco suck as an actor because he sucked tonight?

He did not suck! He was just stoned high.

I don't know if Nolan will take the route of having cats revive Catwoman... doesn't seem like it would fit into his world....

It might be more realistic if she was a woman that lived in an apartment with all her cats, and at night she sometimes goes out and steals from wal-mart.

I was never convinced they 'revived' her.
Going by the script, that's exactly what's happening. As a matter of fact, it was quite over the top in the original version. Schumacher would have portrayed it exactly as the script does. :o
Her fall is (luckily) slowed by a protruding flagpole
with the smiling Shreck cat logo on its flapping flag.
Then she (luckily) lands in a deep snowdrift.

Her eyes creak open, fuzzily focusing on the happy cat above.

SELINA
(faintly)
Help me ... someone ... Miss Kitty ...

...

Miss Kitty, summoned by her desperate owner, now appears
... leading cats of every shape, color and demeanor from
every direction. Selina's cat crawls up onto Selina's
blouse and begins to breathe into her mouth in an eerie
feline C.P.R. ballet.

A Siamese whispers in Selina's ear, aw-so-cute Tabbies
snuggle against the soles of her feet. A scraggly Tom
viciously bites her finger. Selina's eyes fly open.

Just curious - what was up with Shreck's cat-themed motif everywhere? Was it ever explained? Or is that one of the reasons behind Selina's own cattiness?

One of the things that I'm looking forward to is seeing how our Batman reacts to the new Catwoman. It's fitting that she appears after Rachel, almost taunting in her overt, extroverted personae. Batman is reticent and collected, and some of the dialogue from the comics is easily imaginable in Nolan's universe. Add to the larger-than-life nature of the two and we see a glimpse at something that isn't really, inherently, not all that different from Burton's. Bruce once justified the mask as a defense against reprisals, especially so that Rachel isn't harmed by the foes he make, that backfired terribly. I can imagine Catwoman opening old wounds in that regard.

That, and she just probably wants to be loved, poor, kleptomaniac kitty.

^ in my opinion, the thing about the supernatural elements is that it's left to the audience to interpret it. It's more like that her metamorphosis is a result of societal pressure rather than supernatural granduer. I would never expect it all to be a literal. If that was the case then Burton wouldn't have littered the place with all these blurred instances between real and legendary. The 9-lives was a part of the Catwoman's nature as an urban myth, believe it or not, these are still Batman films.

Catwoman. Sexily laid out on the Bat-pod. Make it happen, Nolan.

I know! Chris, if that doesn't get you an Oscar I don't know what will. Oh and have her steal the damn thing later on :D

LOL! Is that really from the script, Mite? How silly! :funny:

Burton really isn't the kind of director who limits himself with the script... like ever. He doesn't even limit himself to the books he chooses to adapt.

Batman, Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Alice in Wonderland, etc. And didn't Returns go through several scripts before we got the end-result? I love the film, the only thing bad about it (that I can think immediately) is that god-awful Penguin march/terror plot in the end. That was just silly.

this is one of the downer castings ive ever heard.

and i do agree, burton doesnt go by what the mythology or any of that is, he views it as a blueprint but then he takes the material and does his own thing with it which for a character like batman, isnt a bad thing in my eyes. the 90's was a time where burton was on top of his game and took what is otherwise silly 2D characters and made them more real and raw for a film. thats what i felt he did with all the characters in batman returns. and for ppl who like to say how innacurate things are in his films, well look what nolan did. he took just as many liberties. scarecrow in a buisness suit? joker with makeup and cut smile with no gimmicks or jokes? ras al ghul with no lazerus pitts? please, spare me. ledgers joker was little more then your basic serial killer but with makeup, not really "the joker" in my eyes.

so far the absolute best casting for a batman film where noone felt miscast but was actually perfectly cast to me was batman returns. michelle pfieffer....PUURFECT! danny devito as the penguin, amazing. keaton as batman, need i say more. and walken, the perfect sleazy slimeball. it was inspired casting. now we have um....no clue who the bane guy is, and anne hathaway??????????????? princess diaries disney princess chick? please, not only is she too innocent looking but she isnt that beautiful, in fact there times she looks extremly plain! no contest, i was dissapointed with ledgers joker (nicholson still owns the role IMO) so i feel the same will happen with catwoman. i mean, how much darker can you go with this character that wasnt already done in batman returns? that movie is still IMHO the darkest batman film to date. nothing in BB or even TDK topped the sheer level of disturbing and tragic themes and visuals of that film. so i really dont know what they could do more. i think trying to top pfieffer is futile. just like it was with nicholson, but im sure nolan knows this. they just have to do something different, but not neccarily better.

Fanboy rage from theman's post in 3...2...1.....

im expecting not too many will agree with me (this is the mecca of nolan fanboydom is it not?) but im just stateing my opinion is all. dont have to agree with me, that is just how i feel. i really havent been too impressed with nolan but i like to keep thinking he will make a decent batman film sooner or later. BB was ok, and origin movie. ok. but TDK to me was just dull and overlong. heres to hopeing 3rd times a charm.

im also not big on too many of todays younger actors. i guess im just old school but im most younger ppl just plain irritate me. i dont watch TV and i havent been to a movie since expendables and before that, 2008 was the last time i saw a flick. movies today suck and im not shelling out 10 bucks for a crappy movie when i got netflix.

If you think that, then you obviously haven't seen enough movies. Try not to watch as many summer blockbusters, try out other movies.

Or Oscar Winners - some of the best films really fall between those two extremes.

exactly, there's been great and awful movies for years and years, nothing has changed in the last 20 years.
