The Dark Knight Rises Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman XXIV

I actually like the look but I just can't get excited about Anne Hathaway. Such an uninspired and dull choice for Catwoman.

I feel that Anne Hathaway is right for Catwoman, but who else was in consideration ?

"Uninspired" and "dull" would be what almost everybody wanted or expected.

Nolan clearly saw something in her that made him decide to give her the part.

You know I actually wanted Natalie Portman when they were doing casting. i didn't know Anne at the time. Only that she was the one from Princess Diaries and that's about it...

It didn't take long for me to love Anne as the choice though. Now I'm really glad I didn't get who I wanted originally.

Yeah what people keep forgetting to take into account is chemistry between actors is probably what sold it for Chris in casting Anne. From just the few scenes I've saw Christian Bale has more chemistry with her than he has with any female lead in his career. Other choices may have not had the same dynamic as Anne.

Also Anne has genuine love for the character beyond just the obvious knowledge and liking. So she will give her all to the role because she is a fan and doesn't want to **** up the character.

Yeah she is definitely the better actor too. She has much greater range in her acting ability. Natalie Portman is always overly dramatic and pretty much the same in every movie. Anne can play a character and I really think she was the best choice even if I didn't see so at first. Like I said I didn't really know her at the time.

I thought that she was over acting in Thor, towards the second act of that movie I started to get annoyed.

Jessica Biel was not right for Catwoman as her acting ability is not really suited for this type of character, she is in same league as Scarlet Johansson. (IMO.)

That is the interesting part, would fans (who are complaining.) -

1) Liked if the costumes along with the actresses portraying them were switched, that is if Anne Hathaway was in same costume but in an Avengers movie as a Black Widow (without the mask ) and Scarlett Johansson with her costume was cast as Catwoman ?

OR

2) Anne as Catwoman but with costume that was designed for Black Widow and Johansson wearing the costume of Hathaway as Black Widow.

I know all this is just hypothetical, but since some people are adamant on complaining, I am just wondering the possible outcome.

You can't blame them. Black Widow has actually been marketed and shown to kick ass. We have only seen one shot of Catwoman in the sizzle reel which most of the world is unaware of.

Ahhhh, but I can blame them. Do they place their faith in an established director who's delivered not only two solid Batman films, but many other great films? No. They place thier in a virtually unknown director who's given them no reason to trust him other then the fact that he's put out a few successful tv shows. I'm looking foward to the Avengers, but Joss Whedon hasn't given me one soild thing that proves he can pull this off. And I'm not just talking about the general public here, I'm talking about superfans. Still no faith in Nolan. The man is not a god, but I think he knows what he's doing by now.

^ Very much agreed. I'm not really looking forward to The Avengers at all. I've never been a big fan of anything Joss Whedon has done before. I was very disappointed with Iron Man 2 and Captain America. I know that I am going to love The Dark Knight Rises.

Nolan has proven to me two times now that he knows how to handle my favorite comic book character perfectly, and now he is handling my second favorite comic book character (Catwoman) and I have absolute faith in him that I am going to see the definitive on-screen version of that character for the very first time.

No, she not is, Natalie is an actress a little superior than Anne, only the performances of Natalie in Closer and Black Swan overcome the best that Anne has done, but both are bad with british accents and Natalie was not even interested.
