I suppose it doesn't truly matter how it does at the box office anymore. They are playfully framing this as the ''last'' AQUAMAN movie (for now anyway).
Yes, of course WB will care how it does, but I think they just want to get this era of DC movies over with.
I think it will have similar numbers as Fast X. It will probably do well in the foreign markets because of Wan and Momoa but the US market appears to be done with the DCEU. That said I will be their opening day like I was with the first Aquaman.Opening Weekend Range: $32M-$42M
Domestic Total Range: $105M-$168M

Long Range Box Office Forecast: AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM and MIGRATION
Two key Christmas weekend releases are the subject of this week's report as theaters hope to begin closing out the year on a high note.www.boxofficepro.com
Some people tracking the pre-sales for Aquaman wouldn't be so sure it can'tIt can't possibly perform worse than The Marvels at the boX office especially with the holiday season.
While I agree they should have waited for the DCEU to finish before announcing a full reboot, I don't think it would have made much difference in the box office. The vast majority of the general audience has no idea about the fate of the current universe or the films that are in development in the next one. That's something mostly us fans know and discuss. Most people don't follow movie news so it's not that common knowledge. The first Aquaman movie made over a $1 billion.
IMHO, it's criminal how Warner Bros. has treated this film and franchise. Announcing the whole DCU slate before they were even finished releasing these films is also corporate malpractice.
They sabotaged Aquaman 2 and literally every DC movie that came out this year. They sabotaged themselves.
My thoughts as well. I feel like this may very well be dead-on arrival. I hope not, but its just the feeling I get.The first Aquaman movie made over a $1 billion.

This is coming out next week and there's no sign of reviews or even reactions. Someone on Twitter claimed the embargo would lift on the 21st, the day before release.
I wasn't planning on seeing this in theaters, I have almost no interest in an Aquaman sequel, but there's nothing else premiering and it is a new James Wan film at the end of the day.
There were multiple reports of bad test screenings, reshoots to "fix" the film and problems between Wan and the studio. I don't know how much truth there is to those (Wan denied it) but extremely slow marketing and last minute embargoes certainly align with that. I think they won't to bury this and get it over with in order to move on with their reboot. The only reason they kept Aquaman for this year instead of delaying it when the strike was happening was to rip off the band aid and be done with the DCEU once and for all.WB just have no faith in this at all so they?

The fact that even Momoa himself is saying it's highly unlikely he'll play that role again shows they're not even keeping pretenses anymore. They know people won't show up.
