Wasn't this season supposed to be better?

True, and I'd argue that quite a few of these episodes have been. On the other hand, the stinkers this season have been way worse than the stinkers last season. Last season's stinkers were semi-boring and Olicity was semi-cringe-worthy, but this season's stinkers have been terrible and Olicity feels like a root canal. This season's great episodes have represented in a real way. It's just that the bad episodes, although actually fewer, are way worse, and so they lodge in the memory and foul up the entire season.

Yep, and for awhile it was imo. And then things just got worse than they were in season 3.
Yeah, the first half was good. My only complaints is that it was more focused on setting up Legends at times. But the second half has just been bad, and all of the most interesting arcs in the first half were just dropped flat out.

Another problem I feel is that there have been some good episodes in the second half of the season that got trainwrecked by poor endings, them ending the Vixen episode on Olicity drama instead of Oliver's emotional goodbye video to his son will forever have me scratching my head.

We all know one of the major problems has been Felicity.

I feel like the problem isn't simply Felicity, its the forced romance and glorification of that character despite her hypocritical behavior. She was her normal charming self early on, but once they set their mind on keeping them together but still teasing a breakup, it kinda felt like pointless drama for the sake of drama. I'd rather see them happy together, and building each other up, then the drama we've gotten and all the attention it's gotten for the viewers and from the supporting characters.

Oh I'm not saying she's the only problem at all. Just saying she's a big part of it.

Another great point mentioned on the Collider recap show was the flashbacks. In season 1 and 2 the flashbacks were really great. During season 3 and on they've been going downhill.

Season 4 started strong. The first five episodes were amazing, with compelling stories. Even better than The Flash.

It turned into a Olicity/Felicity and Friends show after that. The mid-season finale was based on her, and the spring break finale was also based on her.

I think the only episodes i enjoyed after the first 5 were, 4x12 unchained, due to roy harper/shado/nyssa/katana, and 4x13, the league war was pretty good.

This season is no doubt worse than Season 3.
Arrow Season 3, despite having its flaws, it still felt like 'Arrow'.
But now? I don't even know what this show is anymore.

I preferred season 1 & 2 and him going up against street level threats too. That said, it is not that this shows Oliver Queen does not suit going up against bigger threats like the LOA and H.I.V.E, it is just that the writers have not done a good enough job when it comes to how he handles them. They have made it so that Oliver and his team do not struggle much with them, apart from maybe with their leader (Ra's and Damien). Oliver and his team should struggle much more.

They have not made the LOA or H.I.V.E as interesting as they should be. The only thing interesting about H.I.V.E is Darhk. The LOA were ok IMO, but they should have been much more interesting. The main villains supporting characters have not been very interesting either. Blood and Rochev were much better characters than Maseo, Ruve and Andy. Nyssa was a very good character though, I have to say. When you watch the seasons back to back, you can see that much more effort was put into the writing in seasons 1 & 2 than there has been in season 3 & 4.

Team Arrow vs the LOA and H.I.V.E could have been much better if the writers did a better job. It is not that this version of Oliver does not suit going up against them, the writers have just not done a good enough job or put enough effort in. Pretty much everyone was excited when Ra's was announced as the big bad for season 3, and rightly so. They let us down though.

*points up* This. There was absolutely nothing wrong with Felicity, or Olicity, this season. . . *until* they wrote in the rock-dumb breakup subplot.

With Supergirl coming to Vancouver and the CW. Look for cross-overs with Arrow.

They could of did that with the huntress vs black canary but ohh wait.... Seriously though this seems very reactionary because the Atom as the choir boy hero would of been the perfect foil for the dark brooding Oliver Queen. Two dudes who are both dark don't have a philosophical difference in tactics which was at the heart of Daredevil season 2.

Not interested ... knowing them, they'll find some way to create an unnecessary love triangle.

I remember there were a few episodes in S3 when they tried that. It was actually really interesting. It would be almost the reverse now, as Oliver is somewhat lighter than he used to be, and he'd be facing a darker hero. I'm not sure how well they'll pull it off, but it's something Arrow hasn't done yet.

I certainly hope not. There's always the possibility of course, but I'm hoping they won't be that shallow...who knows.

I think DC/WB needs to make some moves to get some original shows on Netflix or Hulu (if Netflix working w/ Marvel prevents them for whatever reason) and bring some more mature, intelligently written shows. Seems like a long shot, but DC/WB is placing all their shows on the wrong network, working w/ the wrong people. If Jessica Jones can have a original series why can't Black Canary or Hawkirl or Huntress. Just to name a few. Just feels like that would allow them to step into some better storytelling. What we're getting on the CW w/ Arrow is utter trash.

Come on, man.

James is just a cover to hide us from his real identity, Eddie Evihl.
