Finally,it really hacked me off in the way George Stacy died.Marvel must really hate the stacys since they always kill them off,You knew it was gojng to happen, but I did not like it that it was The Lizard who killed him.I dont ever recall in the comics where The Lizard killed someone.Connors is like Dr Banner.Because Dr Banner is compassionate and humane,he is able to prevent The Hulk killing people.He may toss them around and hurt them a little but he never kills them.same with Dr Connors.

In the comics he ate his own son...

Actually, from what I gather, this version of The Lizard is one of the most humanized versions of him.

1.The "broken promises" thing in the end. Terrible idea and spits in the face of the semblance of a theme they were trying to create.
2.Ratha. The most obvious victim of the editing.
3.Curt Connors being basivally what Ock should've been (and vice versa). Ifhans got the shaft big time.
4.The fact that the Lizard was talking to Connors. 2002 called, wants the idea back.
5.The Lizard was uninteresting and they dropped the ball by not having his family be a big part of his character and arc.
6.They started small and went too epic disproportionatelly. Again, the climax should've involved a devoid of humanity Lizard attacking his family. Would've tied the themes of the movie much more. If they were gonna take cues from GG for Lizard, they should've at least taken the right ones.
7.The SWAT Lizards being almost a non-issue.
8.The clumsy way they tried to show how Stacy was obsessed with Spidey. With a line that was spoken without directly showing his face, too (which means thery could've cut it easily): The Lizard is destroying everything, but when he learns about a sighting of Spidey, he goes after HIM? Wow.
9.The cranes. God dmanit, I can bash that scene for hours. While not as cheesy in presentation as is SM1 equivalent, at least the latter had some setup, and that scene was the payoff. Here, the crane operator somehow deducts that Spidey needs this particular kind of help, assembles his co-workers in 5' (that, or the Lizard is the slowest comc book villain ever) and do this whole thing. It's cheesy AND a plot hole. Terrible, perhaps my most hated part of the movie. Sony will NEVER learn.

Thank you for this article! This clears up one of the biggest things that bothered me about the movie. I wondered why so much dialogue in the movie didn't make sense when we, the audience, learn, that Richard and Mary Parker died in a plane crash. But, reading that the article on the Parkers' death was probably a late insert explains those nonsensical dialogues. Why, oh why, did TPB show us that article if they wanted us to believe that Peter's parents abandoned their son and were never heard from again. When Ben was sadly telling Peter about how his parents never called to check up on him, I wanted to scream, "But, they died!" When Curt Connors was telling Peter how he was angry at Richard for leaving at a critical point in their research, he didn't acknowledge that Richard had died, preventing him from possibly coming back to finish what he had started. Peter's angry retort to Ben about his father's "lack of responsibility" also didn't ring true. How could Richard fulfill his responsibility when he died? From what the movie shows us, Richard and Mary were loving parents who reluctantly left Peter with Ben and May for his protection and had every intention of coming back for him -- if they hadn't died.

The Lizard. They just went too far with him. If he was more scaled down it would have been much more real. He was almost like the Hulk, in the Ang Lee movie, not that bad, but close.

Are you sure you watched Ang Lee's hulk cause he was 15 feet tall. The lizard was no way near that tall.

The only thing I didn't like was the stupid American flag forced 2 seconds. It's as if Americans believe they are more heroic than other people for no good reason.

great point on number three on Connors and Doc Ock.
Number four I actually liked of The Lizard talking to him.They should have included the line from the 90's toon of spidey saying-His minds all reptile now.I was dissapointed that they left out him thinking to himself AGAIN.I figured with Webb taking over, we would have had that but no such luck.when he was under water we should have heard his thoughts to himself for sure at that time.

For the people who are going to say film is a different medium and that cant work on the screen like it did in the cartoon, thats hogwash.Go watch the movie DUEL with Dennis Weaver sometime and you'll see for yourself that it CAN work on the screen of an actor thinking to himself.

agreed on the last part as well but I never really thought much of it.I just pretended that part never happened.Yeah it would have been better if it just happened without the guy talking about it.Spidey always got out of jams in the comics by sheer coincidence and luck and that should have been just a mere coincidence and luck as well.Not planned out.yeah pretty cheesy.I just ignored it and just pretended it was someone else and not that guy doing it.

yeah the captain stacy from the comics would have figured it out for himself instead of having unmask him.He was a really smart guy in the comics so I was naturally dissapointed a little that we did not see his intelligence displayed.Only a little bit.Since he was killed off so quickly it was just a minor thing for me.If he was going to be around for the next few films I would have been angry about it.

I wasn't a big fan of The Lizard's look in the film, I just loved his look in the comics. I probably biased because I love reptiles and dinosaurs and such....

1. Spidey's quips were NOT funny...NOT ONE!

2. Atrocious editing

3. I never liked Peter Parker or Spider-Man in this movie; I never once found myself wanting to cheer for him like I did in SM1.

4. Uncle Ben's death and the way Andrew acted out the ensuing grief; that was some awkward shrieking/yelping he was doing.

5. How weak and depowered Spidey was; SM2 was I think the most accurate portrayal of all of Spidey's capabilities, this film, not so much.

6. The order in which his abilities manifested was completely out of order and I just never bought in to his fascination at being able to do the things he could do. He almost treated it as, "My computer keys are sticking to my fingers, meh, cool; on to the next scene."

7. This may be real nit-picky, but why in the world was he still wearing glasses after his power manifested? With virtually all species of spider having excellent eyesight this should not have been a continuing issue.

Well, he wasn't wearing them on the subway, and he normally didn't have them on after he got bit.

Not to mention, maybe he wore the glasses at that moment because they were his Dad's and he figured that the only way he would get to talk to Connors was by telling him he was Richard Parker's son.

The fact that you're not sure is what makes it a plothole.

I don't mean you specifically, but if the audience has to question whether the spider gave him 20/20 eyesight or not then it is a flaw of the movie.
