They wouldnt shy away from doing a game in holocaust Germany or whereever just as long as there is story there that they want to tell
They would shy away from it for the simple fact that their aim in these games is to focus on eras of history that we don't see in 10 out of 12 games.

Japan Doesn’t Really Want An Assassin’s Creed, Either
Today 7:30 AM
Wouldn’t Japan made a great setting for Assassin’s Creed? Beautiful cities, amazing weaponry, and, yes, ninja. The game’s developers begs to differ, saying that Japan wouldn’t make a good AC setting.

The Two Best Things I’ve Been Told Me About Assassin’s Creed III
Today 9:00 AM

I recently rattled off 50 details about Assassin’s Creed III, details I learned when I sat through an hour-long demo of the October 2012 game with the lead creators on the project.

Good reads again....thanks again, Zenith.

Like Kotaku and Spider-Who said, it's obvious (and a good thing) why Ubisoft didn't choose to move the setting to overused milieus like medieval Japan and WWII. AC has specialized in the timescapes we've seen very little of in video gaming, and made them incredibly interesting and immersive.

And it's good to read that AC3 is going back to the assassination/stealth roots of the game, instead of the action gaming of ACR. Not sure how that will play out once the Revolution begins in earnest, though....will be interesting to see how assassination techniques play out on a full-blown massive battlefield like Bunker Hill. Maybe Connor targets British officers, and has to weave his way through battle lines to find and pick off the commanders one by one.

Yeah, that's what I'm imagining. It could make for some badass action scenes. Connor trying to avoid the fight, but taking out anyone who stands in his way.

^Funny. as. hell. :D

Luh-huv the Wii double blades.

LMAO, that actually is the coolest implementation of Kinect Ive seen yet

Assassin's Creed 3 follows Desmond more than ever

Lead writer Matt Turner says Assassin's Creed 3 will feature more Desmond than ever before, and more present-day events than in any past installment. "All I can say about Desmond's story is you're going to experience more Desmond than you've ever had before," he said. "We're spending more time on the present than we have in past games."

Though Ubisoft has only given us a glimpse at new historical protagonist Connor Kenway so far, Desmond will play "a big part of our story," Turner assures CVG.

We were able to spend some time with Assassin's Creed 3 at a recent event, learning about the numerous development teams, its colonial American setting and why you won't explore one of old America's most significant cities, Philadelphia.

The Desmond segments were always my least favorite. I definetly want more than what Revelations had to offer but dont want it more than any other game. ACB and 2 had a good balance

seeing the said that it's Desmond final story it makes sense though it makes sense. and that mean their gonna ramp up the action for him as well. so it makes sense. it'll be better then the matrix movies cause of how they paced them.

Did they actually this would be Desmond's last story?

Always seemed like they've never given him enough time, really. Never hurt because the ancestor was always interesting to me, though.

I love all AC games. AC 2 is one of my favorites games ever. This one will surely be as huge, if not even better. I'm glad they chose the american revolution as a setting. It's a really interesting time period to me. I liked this movie with Al Pacino, "Revolution", it gave a great idea of how tough those times were, and I'm sure Ubisoft will make an incredible ending to Desmond's journey.

so there's your answer.

Indeed, it's been said several times that AC3 would the end of Desmond's story.

I'm thinking that the Lost City of the Mayans DLC that was recently advertised as a pre-order bonus will be set in 2012, with Desmond as the main character instead of Connor. It just doesn't make any sense to see a Native American Revolutionary War hero take a long, LONG "side jaunt" down to Mexico or Central America in the 18th century.

Assassin's Creed 3 creative director doesn't like your ideas, Internet

The creative director for Assassin's Creed 3 thinks your ideas are stupid and you should just shut up already. Really, that's not even very paraphrased.

"People on the internet suggest the most boring settings," Alex Hutchinson told OXM. "The three most wanted are WWII, feudal Japan and Egypt. They're kind of the three worst settings for an AC game."

Assassin's Creed 3 writer Corey May really wants to do India, and Hutchinson agrees, saying "I would too. I'd really love to do the Raj."

The moral of the story is: Don't expect an Assassin's Creed title in WWII, feudal Japan or Egypt settings, ever. Also, shut up.

That could be interesting. AC3 will probably not be the last installment in the saga, so Desmond could make some appearances in other AC games as well, without being the central character, and this dlc could help to prepare the game to this.

A lot of people wanted the Revolutionary War as well. So they can't all be bad ideas. :oldrazz:

yeah that's kinda the same thing i mentioned on the japan issue when I first put up the first article. that it's just not in Desmond's blood line as they made it. doesn't mean it won't be in another characters after this arc/ series is done. I also said that thinking this knowing this was the end of his story too. they just didn't want to o there with this character's ancestry.

It'd be cool if Desmond was the mentor for the next modern day assassin protagonist

Yeah, the tone of that article sounded a little ******** that we didn't get feudal Japan, WWII, or Egypt as a setting. The writer probably suggested those....:oldrazz:

But there's a big difference between the developer saying that fans picked "boring" settings, as opposed to the article implying that he said they were "stupid" picks. Nothing of the sort. Japan and WWII were dodged because both settings have been done to death in video games; even with the addition of an Assassins vs. Templars secret war, there is literally nothing new Ubisoft could bring to an already hackneyed genre.

As for ancient Egypt, it would be a *unique* and interesting setting, but the history would be way off. The Order of Assassins and the Knights of the Temple aren't founded until the Middle Ages, so anything in ancient Egypt would have to be proto-,proto-, proto-Assassins...and then you'd have to explain why the Assassins' Order would apparently disappear from the historical record completely and not re-emerge for literally thousands of years.

By the way, thanks, Zenith, for the links again...that podcast was especially informative. One of the things I was curious about was directly addressed in the podcast....that is, whether or not the change in seasons would be a gradual thing. It won't. So you won't actually see it begin to snow, and start piling up; it's just that you'll be in summer for one DNA sequence, and then boom, in the next sequence, it's winter. Which makes sense, from both a game engine perspective as well as a "historical" one --- as he explained, you won't go through multiple "years" in free-roam, only to have the main storyline inform you that only a single season has passed.

Assassins were in ancient Egypt there was a statue of a female assassin in ac2 who saved the world.

The buildings in ancient egypt would not really work. People think everything was pyramids then but those were just a few monuments.

Things would look much more primitive than ac1 and its not like you'd have lush forrests to go through mostly desert.

Yes, visually Egypt would be cool, but from the perspective of remaining true to the game play mechanics, a game set in Egypt would suffer.
