Assassin's Creed: Origins

Looks promising, hoping we don't get the Ubisoft downgrade treatment. Really liking being able to control the eagle as a scout, reminds me of Watchdogs 2 quadcopter.

Giant snake monster...not something you see in Assassin's Creed. I wonder genuine, or just part of some drug induced scene.

Gameplay and trailer are so good!

To be honest the team trailer isn't that good but I like seeing crocodiles and I can't wait to have an eagle

is there only going to be one playable protag this time?

I haven't been satisfied by an AC game since black flag, I think I'm gonna be skipping this one.

This taking place in ancient Egypt
is all I needed to hear/see to get me on board.

Not sure about the combat. Hoping we can still counter attacks

More interested in this game than some of the recent ACs. Could someone list what games have come since AC3 please?

ACIV: Black Flag
AC: Rogue
AC: Unity
AC: Syndicate

there are probably some additional spin offs, too.

but those are the main AC games after AC3, I believe.

Thanks. So Black Flag was the last one I played. Haven't finished that or AC3 though. I don't know if I want to jump ahead and miss some of the prior games.

sure! no probs.

but unless they are spin offs, I think the games are largely stand alone.

though, I could be wrong. others here more familiar with the series could clarify better.

but I think the games overall can be played on their own.

and this new game seems to be a prequel of sorts.

They arent stand alone. All the ganes link up.

The main character of Black Flag, Edward Kenway, is the father of the Haytham Kenway a prominent Templar in AC3, Rogue, and Unity. Haytham is the father of Conner, the main character of AC3. Shay Cormac, the main character of Rogue, assassinates Arno's father at the beginning of Unity. Adewale, Edward Kenway's First Mate, is featured in Black Flag and Rogue. Achilles Davenport is in a couple of the games too.

Yeah I feel like I need to play the ones I've missed in the last few years before I move on to this one.

I hate to nitpick, but the enemy tagging sfx and the detection warning sfx are obnoxious.

No he was correct when he said they are largely standalone. Sure there are ties between the games, but they arent required Every game from AC1 to the Ezio Trilogy to AC3 linked up directly with a common story thread both in the past and present. That hasnt been the case with Rogue, Unity or 4. They exist in the same universe but one can play Unity and be completely fine having never played another game in a way that the same cant be said if they played AC: Brotherhood and hadnt touched the previous titles. Ubisoft has kept the games very assessable since Black Flag by making the stories stand alone

Thanks also.

Not really. Considering this is an origin title with a brand new protagonist and new environment and different time period, the others will factor even less

Accessible isnt the same as standalone. Sure a person can jump into any of the games (the series is like network television and some book series that way), but that doesnt make them standalone. They arent. Syndicate is the only one that really comes close to being standalone because its set set in the 19th century and the characters from the previous games are dead and gone and dont factor into the plot. But the rest all have characters and events and plots that carry over from one game to the next. They are no more standalone than a typical network television episode.
