Avatar: The Legend Of Korra - Part 1

There's no new episode next week. I forgot why, something to do with a holiday? Sorry, I'm not from the U.S. Episode 8 premiers in 2 weeks.

I called this a while back. I knew Asami's dad was involved with the equalists.

Asami is still a suspect in my book and it has nothing to do with some shipping nonsense. Amon wants her inside as close as possible and now he has someone literally living with the Avatar to feed him information.

I'm not sure why Amon needs a spy? His general strategy has been independent of the Avatar and he could easily have taken the Avatar out earlier in the series.

Perhaps. I'd say it could go either way. But they did make a point of showing she's an excellent driver.

Even if one is the best driver in the world, not hitting someone that steps out in front of your vehicle without any notice is difficult.

No Korra and Avengers for a week. Boo!

Anyone else wondering if the Order of the White Lotus is going to come into play at some point? I would like to see what that organization looks like now. Maybe Lin will lead them, and be joined by Kitara? Trying to think of who else from the old series would still be around to be members.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if Zuko is one of them now. I am pretty sure he is still around in this show.

Can I ask a question?

why is an American cartoon being discussed in a thread for Anime / Manga (which is from Japan?)

I know it's a popular cartoon; but still.

Because said American show is completely influenced by Asian culture, not to mention the people designing the characters are Asian, along with the animation style that is being used.

Here is my thought on the whole Amon/bending stealing technique. Amon isnt actually stealing or blocking the benders from bending. I think Amon is just touching them for a show and telling people that their bending abilities are gone. Everyone who has had their abilities taken away is in with Amon before hand. Its all an act and Amon isnt blocking or stealing anything.

I suppose anything is possible and that would be one hell of a doozy, but that seems a bit far-fetched, to me.

I was trying to think of my favorite battles in the original series. Here are some of my favorites.

#1 The EPIC agni-kai between Zuko and Azula, ultimately decided by Kitara.

#2 Aang vs. Zuko & Azula underneath Ba Sing Se. A great all around battle.

#3 Aang vs. Zuko and Jun in the abbey. Appa delivers some badass moments fighting Jun's Shu-she(?).

#4 Katara vs. Zuko in the Northern Watertribe Spirit Sanctuary. Katara at her very best.

#5 Aang, Zuko and Azula duking it out in an abandoned Earthtribe town. Azula avoids defeat by injuring Iroh.

Honerable Mention: Earth Rumble IV : The Blind Bandit vs. The Boulder!!!

Here are mine: But after number 1, any of them are really interchangeable for me, including non-listed ones cause there were just a crapload of awesome fights.

1. Final Showdown: Ozai Vs. Avatar Aang

2. Triple Threat Match: Azula Vs. Zuko Vs. Aang

3. Sibling Rivalry: Azula Vs. Zuko

4. Sokka vs. Master Piandao

5. Master Paccu Vs. Katara

1. Avatar State Aang vs Ozai; for the curb-stomp and display of power.

2. Ozai vs Aang; for the creative bending on Aang's part.

3. Aang vs Zuko (Bato of the Water Tribe); for a good solid fight that just happened to have elemental powers in it.

4. Zuko vs Jet; I'm a sucker for a good sword fight, even if it was short.

5. Sokka vs Piando; still a sucker for a sword fight.

There's no way these are set in stone, but they will always be fights that really caught my attention.

I believe this was discussed in the original A:TLA threads, but one of the best things about the fights with this franchise is that it doesn't take ten episodes of setup to get to an epic fight, unlike, you know, "some other shows."

Are you referring to Game of Thrones as one of the "other shows"? However in Avatar: The Last Airbender most of the time is actually bending vs. bending, it's not like a full-scale battle, with armies and such like the upcoming Blackwater for GoT, also there's plenty of battles going on, they just occur off-screen, it'd be expensive to try to film most of them in a tv series. Anyway it's easier to achive with what you need with animation than live-action.

LOL! Mr. Sensitive!:cwink:

Since this is an Anime Room i would think the poster is referring to other toons. :yay: If not, then it's a silly comparison, although, I love both shows. Battle of the Blackwater!!! Woohoo!!

Also there's only a few battles that we'll get to see it playing out in the tv series but that's because they're crucial one way or another to the overall plot.

Yeah I hope that wasn't what carrrnuttt meant but since he didn't say specify which "other shows" my mind just drift off to GoT. :funny:

I was referring to "every other anime out there." Not that LoK is anime.

More specifically, I was referring to two of my favorites, DBZ and Naruto.

Very true, there were always a lot of set-up episodes for DBZ before the main events. That said, when they finally got down to business, those fights were beyond epic so I think I'll give them a pass for that particular annoyance lol

Well thats entirely different since DBZ was just padded out because they wanted to keep the train rolling. Korra has a set number of episodes.
