Aaron's doing a good job with Wolverine and the X-Men, but Wolverine's role in that comic really should've been Beast's. That would've been the logical next step after parting with Cyclops over X-Force. But no, somehow it makes more sense for Wolverine to restart the school.

I agree about Beast but it kinda does make sense for Logan to run it. His relationship with X-23, witnessing original Kid Apocalypse get shot in the head and being tricked by Daken into killing his own kids that he didn't know about. Schism was the boiling point. It was one of the few things recently done in X-Men that made sense.

I can never look at Wolverine as anything more than a giant, raging hypocrite in WatXM. It's a testament to Aaron's writing that I can usually overlook that disconnect, in fact.

I wouldn't be so sure yet.Bendis could still take over Uncanny or any other X-book.Not all has been revealed.

I don't think it was a logical step.

same here. The militant isolationist direction didnt happen until after they moved to San Francisco. Things didnt really change that much following M Day within the books. WaTX has been a step in the right direction, getting back to how things used to be and thats still operating under the under 200 mutants landscape. Hopefully AvX will result in the Phoenix Force being used to reactivate the X-gene and the X-men unite again as one. I have my doubts on that happening though

With the mutant population being so low and a majority of them being good/neutral, it made sense for everyone to unite under one leader. And when that happened, nearly every mutant became an X-man. That's what I meant as the logical next step. How far Cyclops took that is another thing altogether.

And things did change immediately after M-Day. The mansion was surrounded by sentinels and nobody was allowed to leave. This resulted in a few "mansion raid" storylines, New X-Men became an entirely different comic, Uncanny went into space to avoid the topic altogether, a few ongoing plotlines were suddenly dropped, and nobody was doing the usual "find and protect mutants" thing the X-Men were known for. The comics were basically swanning around with no clear direction until Messiah Complex.

Did the X-Men ever try to do the "just be normal superheroes" thing post-M-Day? That seems like the logical next step to me with the mutant population so low: just focus on mutant/human relations by acting like all the human superheroes and building the X-Men's public image, with maybe one sub-team of X-Men dedicated to puzzling out how the hell they could bring the mutants back.

They did that during the Heroic Age. Lots of stories about the X-Men getting treated like heroes while they patrolled San Francisco. Cyclops even hired a publicist to smooth over Magneto's transition into a good guy with the public. Then Schism happened.

Because they can't stop ******* off at Wolverine. :jedi

Last issue the Avengers were the villians and this week the P5 come across like that. Surprisingly Scott is the voice of reason within the group who tries to maintain the integrity and humanity of the them, as they oppose and plot behind his back

So last New Avengers issue takes place after this issue? I really wish they would attempt to make these come out in order. They've been good about some of the stuff such as Uncanny and WaTX following the main series timeline well but then you have NA which is out of sync. It gets annoying

Juggernaut's convo with Cytorrak was interesting in UXM. Im glad that was touched upon and not ignored

That sure doesn't jive with him calling Captain America "an old fool" in a previous scan. They really need better editors.

Why does hope look 12 years old in AvX? Also, she's becoming as much of a backstabbing ***** as logan. The teams that fought and died to ensure she survived as baby and survived to adolescence are now who she just decided "don't know what they're dealing with". SMH.

Hey Hype! It's been a crazy long time since I've posted (but I've lurked off and on). I can't hide in the shadows anymore though! I'm actually enjoying much AvX "act 2." They really kicked it into high gear.

But I have to complain about Emma! I'm a huge, huge Emma Frost fan and the treatment of her in this series is troubling me greatly. Also, the solicits for AvX 11 have me a bit nervous: "Fatality!" Oh boy. I'm really getting the feeling they are trying to turn her bad and kill her off and call that "one hand washing the other." I'd probably rage if they do. I really want her to be around, more or less like she is, for the future! Especially for a 2x a month shipping schedule!

What does excite me about the series-- good art is lined up for the rest of the books, and I love, love the 2x a month shipping schedule. I guess I'll have to sit tight until I read what they say at the Comic-Con and play the "parse every word the writers say" game.

I can't stand the bi-weekly shipping schedual on any comicbook because, being on a limited budget, that takes away from another book I could or would be buying. Them double shipping Avengers after AvX has completely eliminated any chance of me buying that book and likely any other title that happens with that isn't an X-Book.

Also, I loved seeing Emma kiss Namor in the newest issue because I'm hoping that's a hint at her leaving the team in the near future. I just never understood how people can like her in the slightest bit. I saw that Fatality line and got excited. I'll be disappointed if it's anyone OTHER than Emma.

Emma and Namor have been kissing every fees months though. Im not sure this latest time will amount to anything more

No, they kissed in the past and they've almost kissed quite a few times. The only time they have kissed recently was while under Unit's influence (what little influence was needed). It happening again might be leading to something more there and I hope it does.

I kinda want to see Emma die so that Scott will have no one when Jean inevitably refuses to take him back.

However, I just know that'll only give writers an excuse to push Scott even further into dickery.

I called it months ago that Marvel would have a book launcing out of AvX that would combine the X-men and Avengers

Oooo, John Cassaday. I can't wait for this book to come out tri-monthly.

LOL...maybe thats why Avengers is coming out weekly, to offset it

Yep. Although, I think read something on Tom Brevoort's Formspring suggesting that Cassaday wouldn't be the only artist. Most likely he's got the first few issues lined up and then they'll give it to someone who will be on time.

I do like the bi-weekly shipping schedule. I guess I can see why it would be a problem for some people-- I won't judge that-- but for me, the hardest thing about comics (aside from when many of the Marvel/DC/Image cape comics are decent at best) is waiting a whole year for a 12 issue story arc. I'm just not a waiter. For me this is very very exciting.

Scott ALWAYS has someone. Guy has never been single for more than a few issues since he and Jean hooked up back in the 60s. When one love dies, he already has someone lined up to pick up the pieces. Its just how he rolls. He loves telepaths. Cuckoos should be legal by now right?

Scott should really take a break from his telepath fetish. He's done it before, he should try it again.
