Avengers vs. X-Men: 2012 Event - Part 2

I'd like to see magneto step up and lead an x-team. He certainly has history with them, and he's very experienced. And he was close to Charles Xavier. What a character arc that'd be. From arch nemesis to one of the leaders
It seems as if the Uncanny Trinity have been building up in the last few months to take things over post AvX. I wouldnt be surrpised if Magneto gets to lead his own squad

Magneto should've led X-Force. That would've been awesome. An assassination squad led by a terrorist sounds kind of intriguing.

Or they could have kept Uncanny around and had him run that team. I like your X-Force idea and all since he's one of the few that are aware of the Remender incarnation of the team but without Uncanny, the X-Men franchise continues to be disconnected from what it once was.

Well, it's not just that.

1. It's the flagship title of the franchise and it's being replaced by some time hopping nonsense from the mind of Bendis.

2. It's becoming clear that the results of AvX won't involve (a) Jean or (b) the restoration of the mutant race.

3. Xavier is dead.....again.

I was hoping the franchise would go back to it's pre-2000 days or at least pre-House of M days. Silly me for wishing the impossible. :o

IA. The X-men do kinda feel lost in the shuffle without a flagship title tentpole. I hope things become more clear in the coming months but I liked how Uncanny was the undisputed lead and things trickled down from that. It was a good format. Im guessing WaTX might step up to fill that role but it will depend on how things change in that title as its been more of a joint teachers/students books and not traditional heroics

It's been stated by Marvel that All New X-Men is supposed to be replacing Uncanny as the new flagship title. I'm not buying that either as it feels more like adjectiveless X-Men... just another new X-Men book. But I guess they just HAD to cancel Uncanny because there just wasn't any possible way it could have continued with this new status quo... just like the last time it was canceled and couldn't exist post-Schism

3. Xavier is dead.....again.

One of the guys I was hanging out at the comic book shop noticed how absolutely no one showed any emotion in regards to Xavier's death, including Beast. They all looked like they didn't care.

But then I realized, this is like the umpteenth time that Xavier has "died."

1. X-Men (volume 1) #42 (1968): Faked his death because he's a dick. Came back in X-Men (volume 1) #65

2. X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills (1982): His Rolls Royce is attacked by the Purifiers. Came back in that very same story because it turns out he was never killed after all but was captured by Reverend William Stryker to brainwash him so that he can use Xavier's mental powers to further his agenda.

3. Uncanny X-Men (volume 1) #167 (1983): Body infected by a Brood Queen embryo, had a new body cloned and his mind ended up getting transferred that same issue.

4. New Mutants (volume 1) #18 (1984): Gets shot or something. He's back by two issues though so it doesn't matter. I think it had something to do with Days of Future Past or something.

5. Uncanny X-Men (volume 1) #200 (1985): Charles gets a heart attack and leaves everything to Magneto. Came back in Uncanny X-Men (volume 1) #275 as a Warlord trying to overthrow the Sh'iar.

6. Uncanny X-Men (volume 1) #276 (1991): Killed by Wolverine for some reason. Turns out to be a Skrull and the real Xavier is revealed to be alive in the same issue.

7. X-Men (volume 2) #41 (1995): Charles jumps in the way to save Magneto. However, it's involved with some alternate reality ******** so he's back by the next issue.

8. House of M #5 (2005): In the alternate Earth that Wanda created, Xavier is dead. But it's alright, once everything returned to normal Xavier was brought back to life, but can walk although he was depowered.

9. X-Men (volume 2) #207 (2008): Bishop goes ****ing crazy for some reason and shoots Charles in the head in Messiah Complex. Despite the fact that this is like the bajillionth time that Charles has died, Cyclops declares that without him, there are no X-Men. Xavier of course comes back in X-Men Legacy #208.

10. Avengers vs. X-Men #11 (2012): The second time Brian Michael Bendis decides to kill of Xavier in an event comic with Oliver Coipel on art. This time Cyclops goes ****ing crazy for some reason and just flat out murders Xavier in front of everyone. Hasn't come back.......[blackout]yet.[/blackout]

No wonder why they didn't show any emotion, they're just expecting him to come back within a couple of issues. This guy makes Jean Grey look tame in comparison.

They know the routine.

When you live in a world that has been under Skrull occupation and deal with alternate realities, time loops, and paradoxes on a daily basis - in addition to the aforementioned list from Hippie Hunter - it is understandable why one would not be overly emotional about the death.

Just once, when somebody dies, I wanna see somebody say, "Okay, taking bets on when he comes back. I got a year. Any takers?"

Deadpool called out the whole death-resurrection thing in reference to Cable during their run together.

Don't remember the exact quote, but it was pretty funny

I think it's pretty cheap value that the past two deaths of Charles Xavier were during big events at the hands of a fellow X-Man gone nuts. Stupid.

They should do a whole GN called "The Many Deaths of Charles Xavier"

It'd be great name for an album too, come to think of it
I'm takin it!

There was also a side issue in fear itself, after bucky had died, where some people from a newspaper talk about how the heroes always come back from the dead, and that its more permanent for regular people.

Most of those don't even count. He's had like 1 close to real death and that was the one way back in the 60s. Maybe one can count Legion Quest but that was a time anomaly

Was the whole point of this event just to kill off *that person*? He was barely even in it!

You know who I wish would die permanently Aunt May.
Just once, when somebody dies, I wanna see somebody say, "Okay, taking bets on when he comes back. I got a year. Any takers?"
I'm pretty sure I read that in one comic or another.
Yeah, and for others like Bill Foster and Janet Van Dyne.
Janet will be back eventually.

I never thought they would bring back Bucky, Jason Todd or Cypher and they did.

No reason to kill Aunt May off. She lives in Boston and makes random appearances. There's no reason to kill anybody off, it's cheap writing 9 times out of 10. There's more creative was of doing things....

So does anybody think we'll ever find out what Hope is in this last upcoming issue, and why she's so special? Or is the answer to all our questions about her since Messiah Complex just "she's the Phoenix Host" cuz that would be totally lame.
