Batman: Arkham Origins - Part 5

Regarding Bane:

He wished to kill the Batman as his aristeia, fulfilling his desire for dominance before he died or was destroyed by the venom addiction he could not break. Simultaneously, he was also okay and even hoping for death, so that he could finally meet his end at the hands of an implacable foe, the only acceptable end for Bane, not, again, slow destruction from venom.
Bane knew that the early form of Titan would kill him or damaged him permanently. He sacrifice himself to kill Batman, similar on how he would sacrifice himself to destroy Gotham in TDKR.

I restarted my game last night since I lost my file to a corrupt save. Beat Deathstroke and shortly after the game froze again. I booted it back up and lucky my save is still there but I'm not about to risk it. Gonna shelve the game until WBM gets a patch out.

Awwww, ****. Sorry to hear man. :csad:

Yeah, waiting on a patch is the best plan. Can't keep wasting your time making up ground on things you've already done again and again. That's pretty ****ed up.

I haven't checked, but are most of the issues with the 360 versions, or are PS3 copies having as widespread an issue as well? I mean, you gotta hand it to Rocksteady, I never ran into a bug or glitch in either the PS3 or 360 versions of Arkham Asylum or Arkham City. The worse I can think of was audio dropouts in my turtlebeach headphones, not on my tv, for some dialogue in Arkham Asylum.

Also, the quality of the cutscenes was downright shocking at times for me.

Alfred's face would often be fully pixelated, for e.g.

Even during gameplay there's this weird gloss effect to the characters that I can't say I cared for.

I really enjoyed the soundtrack to origins. I just purchased the Joker's theme on iTunes.

Im not sure, a quick browse of their forums and it seems its pretty widespread on both consoles. The PS3 version has its own set of issues with framerate as well.

Yea i was pretty damn frustrated when i noticed my file was corrupt. I REALLLLLY want that Dark Knight suit and i had finished 2 of the challenge towers, working on finishing the remaining and then poof, all gone. I mean its not all bad though, the game is fantastic save for the bugs so going through it again doesnt bother me too much. But i think one corrupt save is enough haha. Next time i have to restart a game i want it to be on MY terms haha.

I wish Montreal would respond to the fans, they need to solve these things before they start promoting the DLC, etc.

Man, if I had my save file corrupted, losing hours of gameplay, I would probably shelved the game for months. Heck, it's been several years since my save got corrupted in FFVI, and I haven't touched the game since. Getting a corrupt save can really sour the experience for me. I'm so glad I didn't buy the game yet.

Video games like this should make redundancies, a separate save every 5-10 minute in addition to the checkpoint saves so that if one goes bad it can fall back on another. Its completely not okay for a game to keep freezing like this, especially if it forces you to start over again with no insurance that it won't happen again.

Oddly enough, the only time I have had a save corruption was on Oblivion. I had just completed the Dark Brotherhood storyline and had conquered two additional Oblivion gates. The loss was hard and is the reason why I have not popped the game back in, even to this very day (it happened in June.) I can understand the frustration.

In terms of DLC, I imagine the Initiation one might be the only one --- or has there been any indication that there will be more?

Put my big boy panties on today and got the Dark Knight suit. It's so beautiful

There's going to be Story DLC, as well. Along with more Skins.

Welp, count me in with the freezing crowd. For some reason my game has locked up 3 times in the last 30 mins. It's really annoying and seems completely random. The first time was during a cutscene, the second during a load screen, and the third when I was browsing the in-game menus.

Haven't had a game freeze like that in a loooooooong time.

If Joker is in A3 my guess would be a way of "haunting" Bruce as he fights someone like Scarecrow.

I'd be down for that. It would actually be a great way to address his guilt over letting him die and be a way to grow out of it and continue on fighting.

I just hope he is also allowed to properly grief for Talia as well. :o

In comics, dead is "dead", not dead.

These aren't comics.

Thats so bad ass. I would of had the damn thing last night until my corrupt save hit. I was running through those damn challenges.

Over on the main forum they were telling ppl to create separate saves on a Flash Drive just for insurance.

Doesnt matter. Its a comics property. Dead is "dead", as CBB said.

Comic properties aren't bound to the same "rules" comics are. In fact, one of the appeals of doing an adaptation is the liberties they can take with those properties. That's why many people found his death shocking in AC. If it happened in the mainstream comics, it would be very easy to shrug off and move on. Not quite so in a video game.

No its just as easy to bring someone back in a video game. Its all driven by the bottom line. If there comes a time when the suits feel that Jokers presence would make them more money, the fact he died in Arkham City won't mean a damn thing.

Exactly. Especially if Scarecrow will be in A3..the typical hallucination segment of the game could definitely incorporate this. Especially if Bruce is indeed squaring off against someone like Tommy Elliot who is from his past.

Oh, there's always the ****ing Lazarus pits. Throw Joker's corpse in there and boom, you're ready to go. I don't want that to happen, but it's as easy a solution as you can get

Ya know even though I haven't finished the game yet, close though. I think the best scene in the game is....

the talk Batman and Alfred have after the Royal Hotel chapter. So deep and emotional. Good dialogue, very good.

The one underneath Crime Alley was rendered useless thanks to Ra's using it. Not to mention Clayface falling on it and blowing up. :oldrazz:

The other pits are around many remote parts of the world, and Ra's would be the LAST person to want to revive the psychopath who killed his daughter.

Finally, it's kinda hard to revive someone whose corpse was exhumed, if Arkham Unhinged is to be believed.

In the Endgame comic which is set after City Gordon and Batman torch Joker's corpse in a furnace. How canonical that is remains to be seen, but at least there they took steps against that.
