Batman: Arkham Origins - Part 7

I paid for Cold, Cold Heart - which was a pain downloading as I have one of the original, pre wifi 360's-and will probably pass on buying the complete edition 'til it's 10 or so (so I can have all the suits. Hopefully they added the Adam West Batman skin to the 360 edition.)

This could be nothing, but apparently Warner Bros Montreal has been working on an unnamed AAA title for the PS4/Xbox One. Could it be their follow up to Arkham Origins?

While the Batman: Arkham franchise has gone back to Rocksteady Studios, looks like the cogs are spinning at Batman: Arkham Origins developer Warner Bros. Games Montréal, in the form of a new game for PS4 and Xbox one, as explicitly revealed by the resume of Audio Designer Dustin Reid.
Mentions of an unannounced AAA game are also present in several profiles of other Warner Bros. Games Montréal developers, and Batman: Arkham Origins Lead Game Designer Pierre-Luc Foisy mentions:

Now working on a new AAA project that is just starting. Currently lead the Design team and help starting some prototypes.

If the Linkedin profiles are any indication, it seems that Warner Bros. Games Montréal has placed a large percentage of the staff of Batman: Arkham Origins at work on this new game, even if nothing else is known about it.
Will it be another Batman or superhero game, or maybe something entirely different? Rumors about a Suicide Squad game have been floating around, but for the moment it’s too early too say. We’ll keep our feelers out and we’ll let you know as soon as we do.

If it's the Suicide Squad game, it is going to be ten shades of awesome. Origins attests to the terrific writing team at WB Montreal and the developing team (the detective mode in Origins was the best in the series, as well as the story.) I'm hoping it's the Squad game; although, the selfish part of me is hoping for one more (or last) Batman game from the writing team on Origins. I'd love to see them expand on one of the secret societies teased in Origins (the Black Glove or Court of the Owls,) or Andrea Beaumont (who has infuriatingly not been incorporated in the comic continuity.) In short, if it's a DC game, I'll preorder it as soon as it hits Amazon.

Batman: Arkham Origins 'Complete Edition' listed by Amazon Germany

You don't have to be the "World's Greatest Detective" to follow this trail: Amazon Germany has posted a listing for Batman: Arkham Origins "Complete Edition," a package which will supposedly combine Arkham Origins and all of its DLC into one box.

The move, if accurate, isn't exactly unexpected; both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City received similar treatments when they re-released as Game of the Year editions. The Complete Edition - which has not been officially announced by Warner Bros. - is listed as coming to PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on August 21.

Hope they say it's the better fixed version ala directors cut that'll go long way. and no one can or should dump on them if they make a sequel and continue the franchise from Rock steady prequel wise. Man am I happy they chose ot to call it Game of the Year editions

oh others posted this a page over. oh well what I'm saying still counts. I'm happy they didn't call it Game of the Year . Hope it's a better version.

Just finished the story of Cold Cold Heart, that mode is great, they really did take the debut episode of this version of Mr. Freeze and adapt it to the game

It's nice to see a new take on Freeze that does not undercut the character. I am not too fond of the New 52's, as they turned him into a monster that belonged in an episode of Hannibal.

I went on PSN and bought the Deathstroke package, then opened my Origins to get the disc...and saw that it came with a Deathstroke package code. Forgot all about the pre-order bonus. Oh well, someone just got a free lunch :D

Does anyone want the unused Deathstroke code? I can PM it.

Sometimes when I play the CSI bits, it feels like Batman is psychic, and not simply a detective basing what he tells on evidence

If WBM fixed the bugs on this "complete editon" I might trade my old version.

So, even with the rumors of a GOTY-comparable version coming at some point, I bit on this yesterday for $20 with Season Pass included. I love the presentation so far and how vast the city is. The controls are a bit clunkier and not as clean as AC (or even AA), which I imagine is somewhat linked to this being a less experienced Dark Knight. Seems like a worthy entry so far, despite my knowing a good bit of what's coming.

That Deathstroke fight was all the drool. :mrk:

edit: Cripes, it took forever to download Cold, Cold Heart. Might be time to bump that DL speed.

I have yet to play this simply because I've been waiting on a "GOTY/Complete Edition" that I figured would be inevitable. So come out already dangit! I want to play "Cold, Cold Heart", I need more Freeze.

Having had a chance to wrap up the main story on this puppy, I can see why it got some of the middling and lukewarm responses it did. There's some retread on gameplay and not as much invention as you might like to see. The main issue (even at this later stage) is glitches. I've had issues with freezing, crediting for challenges that I didn't complete and no-crediting for challenges I did complete that I see are all too common. Whose bright idea was it to not have Predator Challenge rooms respawn when there's a flippin' achievement associated with it so you have to cure in NG+? At least gimme the option in some of the training rooms. Work with me, WB Montreal.

On the plus side, the characterization is the best of the trilogy (particularly Bruce/Alfred & Batman/Joker) and the story rivals Asylum IMO. The suit skins are a better look than I imagined and, Jesus, I just love gliding through the city... at least when I'm not dealing with those ******* snipers in the Diamond District. There are some nice continuity nods (Bane's ridiculously oversized form, hinting at the Rise of Sharpy, seeing the first steps of Harley going loony, etc) that add to the goodness.

Overall, there was a bit too much flak for the title.

Ahh, several months after the fact, but there you go.:batty::shr:

Glad you enjoyed it, Mister J. I love Origins. I think it stands up well against Asylum and City, and it does have by far the best story and characterizations of the games. Bar none.

I would of had such a better appreciation for this game if the gameplay itself wasn't tainted with all the bugs. I mean there was just no excuse for releasing a game this buggy. And I don't mean little funny glitches, im talking about game breaking, save corrupting bugs.

This would of prob been my fav of the 3 had it not of been for the awful gameplay experience the game released with.

I think I would have enjoyed Origins as a game more if it didn't have almost the exact same gameplay as City. I never felt I was doing anything new. Still, love both.

Its wired I heard a lot of people say this and I had no problem at all with glitches. I have only seen 2 glitches in the whole game and they only happened like twice eatch. The only glitches I have seen are where I was fighting and batman wouldn't punch and 1 where a guy I was fighting started to floot in the air all I had to do was click on restart form check point or die and then I had no problem again. To me this game was batman arkham city but with a biger area and a different story. I disagree that it had the best story though. The biggest problem is that it was to much like city. I think batman arkham city had the best story. So for me I rank the batman arkham games like this.

1. Batman arkham city
2. Batman arkham orgins
3. Batman arkham asylum.

I didn't enjoy it as much, cause the controls were laggy for me. I thought I was going insane about it, and then I popped in both AA and AC, and they felt fine. There was delay when you press a button, to when the action would happen on screen. Oh, and I hated some of the camera angles for the bosses.

Other than that, it was a fun game. I liked the Batsuit more in it.

Yeah it was arkham city but with a biger area and a different story and the crim scence stuff other then that nothing really different about the game. You look at batman akrham cite compared to asylum and you had being able to dive bomb, double conters, ect.

I still want to 100% the game has I did the first to but I don't know if I will beable to 100% this one has it is harder then the first 2. I still have some ridler tookes to find and I am only on level like 6 on one of the change things. Also the change of getting a 50 plus combo with out getting hit and with using a 15 plus different movies I have had trouble getting. The hard thing is I forget what movies I have used so I will think I haven't done a movie and end up do one I have done again.

I didn't have trouble with that either has I found the controls to not be laggy at all. The thing that did borther me the most was batman arkham city and asylum ran at like 60 FPS all the time this game would some times slow down to like 15 a second for a little bit witch was really annoying.

Yea it deff didnt advance the series, but hows that saying go? 'An Arkham game is like pizza and sex, even when its bad, its still pretty good'.

I really like how they handled presentation. Strong VA work, nice touches on making Gotham recognizable from City, the CSI spin on crime is a nice addition, the Dark Knight Challenges are great and I get way too excited over the scoring after every encounter. The score was amazing as well. I'm definitely going to get some replay out of this.

A few tweaks in beta testing and I think you get a markedly better overall reception.

I read about the insanity there. No reason whatsoever.
