I always say that ironman was the better "batman begins"
although, they're both two completely different types of movies, ones lighter and funny, while the other is dark and dramatic.
i think iron man was wayy better than batman begins
was it better than the dark knight, im stuck on that one, i like both the same.

Oh, cool, I broke the tie.
I’m gonna take the question ‘Which movie was the better franchise starter?’ a little bit more specifically.
I don’t want to give a ‘which is the better movie’ answer here, as both are good movies, with their own distinct merits and flaws.
I’m gonna judge the two on how exited each made me about a sequel, an actual franchise.
I was never really that much attracted to either Batman or Iron Man as superheroes. Never read any of their comics.
I watched Batman Begins and just like with all Batman movies (TDK included) I just couldn’t feel myself attached to it and while the fact that they will be making a sequel was pretty obvious, the idea never carried any importance to me.
While I found Iron Man to be such an enormous fan-boy tease. There were so many things that made me care about a sequel, like the introduction of S.H.I.E.L.D., a Warmachine concept, an Avengers idea and then it all finished with a bang, revealing his secret identity to the world! And now I can’t wait to see all that unfold in Iron Man 2!

Both are great films, but I'd go with Iron Man. It was more of a fun movie and it had all the emotion and character that BB had. Plus,Robert Downey Jr. was so charming and funning in the role of Tony Stark.

I voted for Batman Begins.:brucebat:

Actually I'm really surprised by how close the votes are between Begins and Iron Man. Don't get me wrong Iron Man was a brilliant film, but to me the whole Nolan Batman franchise is something really special, far superior to most normal superhero fare. Iron Man was good, but for me, only as good as the first Spider-Man and X-Men films.

I just dont see why so many people consider Iron Man so special, it was a very good movie, but it was cliche, brought nothing new to the table and was nothing spectacular IMO.

BB and TDK on the other hand, were both simply stunning. And before you ask, no, i'm not a Batman fan.

Well, I already said why I consider IM to be a better franchise 'starter' but I do in fact think it to be a better movie then both Batman films as well.
Thing is, you're absolutely right, it's clichéd and it's nothing new, if you look at the past superhero and action movies alike, but the important thing is that for the most part it does all of those things right. And for me personally that was a breath of fresh air after questionable superhero franchises like Spider-Man, X-Men and the Hulks.
Iron Man is an action flick, there’s nothing deeper to it than that. But it’s a damn good one.
Only thing I’d disagree with you on is I’ve never seen a live action superhero in robot armour before. That was spectacular enough for me.

BB and TDK on the other hand, were both simply stunning. And before you ask, no, i'm not a Batman fan.
While I agree that the new Batman franchise is very good. I’ve seen plenty of brooding non-superhero movies with the same emotional and philosophical depth, so I can think of a few examples that are much better suited for what BB and TDK tried to deliver.
The apathy factor for me comes from Batman himself. Maybe because I am a Marvel fan I’m hypnotized into an emotional block towards anything DC. So despite all the depth I can’t bring myself to care about that specific icon.

As a franchise starter, I think IM is better than BB, X-Men, Spider-man. IM may be an action movie, but it's not all action; in fact, Downey appears in vast majority of scenes sans his mask, and his protrayal of Stark is what makes the movie so good. Just because it has more action than BB doesn't mean it's all action-driven.

IM has the fun factor. It's a film everyone can enjoy. As marvelous as the Batman movies are, not everyone will get them and appreciate them.

i agree. IM had the fun factor. while Begins had the more emotional storyline and realisitic approach. cant wait to see Iron Man tonight at the college campus nearby.

Agreed,

I still believe that Iron Man is superior to Batman Begins, although TDK trumps them both.

IRON MAN!

I just enjoyed the movie much more than BB. Downey was awesome, while Bale's Batman has never impressed me. His Bruce Wayne is really good, though.

Same here.
Iron Man is more like 2002's Spider-man quality. Batman Begins is just such a better movie, I liked both however.

Thank you.

I love them both. IM grossed more so I'll say it was a better franchise starter. Alot of people still don't even know that BB exists.

Agreed. I actually told a friend about this a few weeks ago before I read this post. Good to see someone else knows what I'm talking about.

You took the words right out my mouth! Its a good film I had fun but why do people concider it to be 'amazing'...it was full of cliches and it wasn't visually spectacular, it was just a fun film. I give it a 8/10..its NOT amazing like people stay and I still don't understand how it got a freakin 93% of the tomatoemeter ...Even Hellboy II was a better film and that got a 88%.

TDK>>>>>>>>BB>>>>>>>>>Iron Man.

Good movie just not as good as everyone says. Although I am sure IRon Man 2 is going to be A LOT better (It seems like part 2's are always the best of superherofilms.) and I cant wait to see that.

Whoa!! You lost me here ...Its sequel is the second film to make 500 million dollars in the box office, so how do a lot of people not know Batman Begins exists?

I thought Batman Begins was better than The Dark Knight. I watched a little bit of BB on ABC the other day. But I saw Iron Man as the more fun origin movie, so I vote Iron Man.
