The DCEU is pretty much doomed overseas if it can't do well in China.

Yeah, the Chinese audiences have vehemently rejected this movie, and considering that China is poised to take over as the biggest market in terms of Box office, this spells doom for the DCU.

No it doesn't, they hated this movie, not outright denounce the DCEU, make a good film and the chinese audience will see it in droves.

Besides the film didn't do so well in China mainly because of its dark tone according to Variety:

“Batman v Superman” was expected to benefit from being the biggest Hollywood superhero movie released in China since midway through last year. But with a tone than is darker than ideal for mainstream Chinese audiences the DC Comics adaptation earned modest reviews and weak word of mouth.

In other words change the tone of the next films to a lighter tone and it'll sell wonders in China.

This is far from spelling doom for the DCEU in China, calm down.

The fact that Deadpool may gross more than this.

I mean seriously WB, here's what you need to do.

1. Stop production on JL. Would you rather lose money with a bad film with JL1 or lose less money now with stopping it?
2. Fire Zack Snyder off JL
3. Make George Miller a offer he can't refuse to direct JL
4. Push JL back
5. Try to move Aquaman to Christmas 2017
6. Have Batman solo and Flash in 2018
7. Justice League in 2019 with Miller directing
10. Involve Bruce Timm

Yeah... 850 million is not gonna happen either....
Yeah, I'm doubtful at that. Its dropping like a rock in all the biggest markets minus Mexico/Brazil.

BvS will probably make about 90-95 million in China. Subtract that from say...850 million and you get 760 million. Deadpool is currently at 747 M + $3 million this weekend plus a few more million OS.

Can DP actually outgross BvS if you subtract China? :o:oldrazz:

I don't know about doomed -- Deadpool did just fine and GotG was a big hit despite doing "only" $96 million -- but yeah, if you are hoping for Avengers-sized hits (and I have to think that's the goal for a JL movie) you need China.

Yes, involve Timm, who just made batman a vampire and superman a murdering son of Zod.

This may actually happen.

If not Timm at least Dini.

Yep, After these abysmal box office numbers, if Warner Bros dares to even continue on with the Justice League with Snyder at the helm then that's it, i would honestly want the entire DCEU to be scrapped and rebooted from the Snyderverse with nearly every high ranking member of Warner Bros Pictures fired and replaced.

This 70% box office 2nd week drops with ZERO competition is laughably bad.

Is that correct, has no superhero movie like this never dropped this much in its second weekend? I mean if that pans out?

Elektra had a 68% drop...there are a few like the last Fantastic Four, Hulk 2003, and Green Lantern that were in the upper 60's as well...but I don't remember any 70% drops...

It's going to be near the top, but not quite the worst. Steel dropped 78%. To "beat" that, BvS would have to gross less than $30.4 million this weekend, which means it would have to make less on Saturday and Sunday combined than it did on Friday. That's not happening.

Not to mention that Warner Bros had a recordly bad box office year in their film department last year, relying mainly on television and video games.

They will intervene thanks to these BO numbers for BvS.

Wonderful when BvS can say it has something in common like that with those movies.

Man, if that happened without ANY competition they'd have to make a new BvS forum.

Does Steel really count? I thought we were talking legit, modern superhero flicks. Basically from X-Men in 2000, to today.

IMHO Steel doesn't count. I recall the 2003 Hulk dropped 69 percent.
