BvS Batman V Superman Box Office Prediction - - - - Part 13

The movie was never going to be 3 hours. They knew it was a disaster, and they never were going to release something that would screw up there numbers for opening weekend. The mythical 3 hour cut now sounds just like Trank talking about Fantastic Four. :lmao:

Too bad the reviews and reception corroborate my opinion, not yours. This movie is still crap.

Did you know that the Monkees outsold the Beatles and the Rolling Stones combined in 1966 abd 1967?

Comparing BvS to the Stones and Beatles. I guess they never sold nothing either. :hehe:

And now we're back to Snyder being a misunderstood genius that's ahead of his time.

I'll join the dense masses and continue to think he's just a guy who's not very smart.

Anyone wanna give their Tuesday predictions?

And now we're back to Snyder being a misunderstood genius that's ahead of his time.

Whenever Snyder talks, I imagine a guy who's not qualified for a job trying to BS his way into a high paying position.

Again, Forbes and Washington Post said around 800 million, and I think (I might misrember so sorry not putting words in anybodys mouth or keypad) Pony Boy said that 800 was about right for it breaking even.

Most likely the only people knowing the exact numbers work for WB.

Yeah, 800 million is the minimum target number

And THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN to the uber defensive people coming in here to talk about anything BUT the box office. Much like Warner Bros themselves, you always find a way to distract people from talking about the numbers

How is the three hour cut a myth when it has been announced? By several accounts WB panicked at a three hour movie (because it would cut down on showings a day) and the potential reaction to an R rated Batman/Superman movie.

I'm not saying they weren't right to cut it down to 2.5 hours, and since I haven't seen it I can't say it is better or worse, but I do think what I did say that it complicates matters is valid. If WB did demand cuts then Team Snyder can say, "you should have let us release "our version" with the logic it would have earned slower, but had a longer shelf life at the theatre. I know that some people (person?) has reportedly seen the EC but I haven't read what their view of the long cut is) but it does seem that they have said that WB should rush it into IMAX as soon as they can, indicating that it plays better than the 2.5 hour version.

So, while it is obvious that online ticket tracking can't gauge total sales it does provide a fairly accurate look at movie ranking. Yesterday online sales as tracked by Movietickets.com and Fandango pulse had BvS 2d at number one, Zootopia at number two, BvS 3d at number three, and MBFGW2 at number 4 which matches the total sales yesterday exactly.

Here is the UK for yesterday.

MONDAY:
1-ZOOTROPOLIS
2-BATMAN V SUPERMAN
3-HUNTSMAN: WINTER'S WAR
4-EDDIE THE EAGLE
5-KUNG FU PANDA 3

Poni is right. Keep it on topic. If people want to distract from that, point them to the right thread or ignore them.

Of the movies playing BvS had the most to lose from the NCAA championship game based on its key demo which is reflected in the significant drop compared to other non summer second Mondays.

The Boss is still failing to show up in presales tracking being skipped over by CA:CW.

Today,, online sales are tracking the same as they did for the last four days. What is telling is that BvS went from being 70 percent of the sales to just north of 25 percent which tracks very accurately with its actual sales (walk up and online).

This movie is a clear disappointment at the box office but it puts WB in a pretty awkward place. They let Snyder work on a three hour cut and panicked. We will never know how that three hour cut would have played to critics had it been released. It may have been better for WB to have said, "we support our directors and the story Zack has crafted is an "R" rated film that the audience deserves to see." Then if it bombed they could say "Zack you are out of here!"
But now, there is the big "if" of what could have happened. Now, I haven't seen the 3 hour cut so I don't know if works better or not, but given the one consistent in the negative (and positive reviews) that it has structural/editing issues I have to believe it has to be a bit smoother of a presentation.

You think they are getting crushed with a bad box office now, imagine if that R rated cut was approved??? It would have done worse.

Thank for that. I was wondering what was going on over here. Tracking with what's happening in the US pretty much.

Any guesses on when the the drops will plateau? Can't keep doing +50% for weeks

Basically he's Affleck's character in Good Will Hunting when he goes on the job interview for Matt Damon.

Would break even be considered failure for them? Or is it enough to proceed as planned?

Hell yes it would be a failure. They sold this as a $1.5 billion dollar "easy street" investment. Guaranteed. Money in the bank.

We all know people invest to break even or make minimum profits. These people are in it for the art. It is exactly why Batman showed up in the Man of Steel sequel. :o

OT: a 3 hour cut will not solve the acting issues I had with this movie. I'll check out the 3 hour cut and see if it helps things but I doubt I'll love this movie afterward.

No idea I'm just trying to stay on topic lol

But plateau I guess that weekend when Barbershop (dont under estimate it) and Jungle Book come out.

Ouch. So maybe that JLA start date next week isn't gonna happen.

They did ok!:yay:

But when someone attacks someone else's views based on their own alignment with public popularity it is okay to add a bit of perspective.

For the record I have clearly stated that there are issues with the movie, but I still enjoyed it and feel that the critical bashing is incredibly over the top.

But taste is subjective, and people like what people like. I am still shocked by the amount of people who continue to bash TFA. But I can't tell them they are are wrong because public opinion is on my side.
