BvS Batman V Superman Box Office Prediction - - - - Part 13

It only comes up because people continue to come in here to cry about the reception as displayed by the BOX OFFICE. Stop taking it off topic and it won't come up.

And nope, that is clearly not what this topic is for. You want to talk about that, go to the proper threads. Here, the analysis is about the box office and what it tells us about the perception of the film. It does not matter if you think the movie is good or not. That isn't the question. The public clearly doesn't, which is what is relevant here.

But nope, you and others what to fight your war over this movie where ever you can.

I'm not sure what war you think I'm fighting, most of my posts have been about online tickets sales and how they reflect not the box for the film but the ranking of the box office (and there has been a direct correlation between the two). I have kept my views of the movie almost completely out of this thread other than an occasion "while I liked it, the box is clearly disappointing" comment.

So, while there are obviously people on both sides who continue to take this thread off topic, I don't think it is fair to group me in with either one. In fact, I fully expect this comment to probably get deleted even though I am simply responding to your comments.

No, you clearly don't. More then once you have said, "well box office doesn't equal quality". You brought up the Beatles and the Monkees. Continue this way, and well I guess we will just have to report you. C. Lee is getting sick of coming in here to tell people to cut it out.

From online ticket sales, BvS should still be number one today. If the NCAA champions ship was an issue yesterday it should see a solid bump, if not the distance between it and Zootopia will be even smaller for todays tickets sales.

With it being discount Tuesday, the top five movies should see a solid bump in attendance.

I'd say no. Even if it does ultimately lose money at the box office, it will get close enough to break-even to make a profit once DVDs, video on demand sales and TV rights are factored in, though that will take months/years to play out. FantFourStick, which caused something like a $100 million write-off at Fox, was a bomb. BvS is more of a fizzle.

yeah. I guess fizzle is a better word.

but fizzle should never be in the same sentence as Superman or Batman. :(

It's stunning that for 99% of movies that would be a huge success, but for this one...well, it ain't, is it?

Except it'll never be as black and white as that - albeit trolls will try to paint it that way (not you specifically). Different franchises/brands have different values, not to mention films all have different budget/marketing costs.

The Trinity and more specifically Batman/Superman are among the most widely known franchises across the globe. This movie was an expensive movie that could possibly come close to not breaking even.

That is a failure to maximize the brand.

The biggest problem is the long term ramification, especially when it comes to WW and JL. There is no reason to expect those films to do better, and considering how MoS and BvS did at the box office, they should do much worse without a big turn around in the reviews.

It will be interesting to see how the box ultimately plays out. It is clear that from the opening day numbers there was huge potential that ultimately squandered regardless of how anyone feels about the movie. In business numbers don't lie. 800 million is still in range. Merchandise sales have been brisk at retail. WB will definitely see profit but it is hard to be happy about finding a twenty dollar bill when you just lost a hundred...

I'm not used to a big film's overseas numbers slowing down so quickly. I guess the fact it wasn't staggered at all meant it doesn't get supported by newly opening markets in later weeks as a lot of films do.

First and foremost, it wasn't a good idea to make a movie titled: Batman vs Superman. They are both superheroes. not a good way to introduce a JL movie. Another thing is, if we have to make the fight logical, Superman moves fatser than the speed of light so there is no way that Batman can see him whenever Superman moves. Another thing is that Batman is considered a human, but a very intelligent one. But even the most intelligent person on Earth cannot create a machine that will help him be able to see an ftl-moving Superman. And lastly, even if Batman has kryptonite, Superman is so fast and so strong that he doesn't need to get near Batman to beat Batman.

2nd, the movie is title Batman vs Superman but it only came after an hour. Also, I wasn't convinced how the fight even started especially on Superman's part. Also, the movie looked like they were both jealous of each other. Maybe the movie could have worked better if the movie title was different because people will are expecting a long fight between them. it would have been cool to see them fight as Clark and Bruce too and not just as Batman and Superman

3rd, I didn't feel the impact that Snyder was trying to do. he was trying to connect a lot of things between Batman and Superman. The wheelchair guy, the Martha, and he even wanted Superman to die thinking it will create a huge impact for the movie. What he was trying to do, I didn't feel it. Bryan Singer is better at creating an emotional/dramatic scene (only that but he's improving though on other aspects).

4th, I find the movie boring. I got excited with the Doomsday vs the Trinity but it wasn't awesome seeing Doomsday like feeding energies. They should have had Doomsday look and act simply like Doomsday. What I mean is, I wanna see the fight just similar to seeing an h2h fight. Also, i was kinda not a fan of WW always using her sword. WW can punch Doomsday and can fly but all I see is Superman the one getting punished by Doomsday.

5th , lastly, it's such a great scene to see Superman and the color of his costume. So maiking the movie dark was not a good decision. The movie was also too serious.

He did well with Lex Luthor though but i kinda didnt like that they took an actor to play as Alfred who looks like Robert Downey Jr. When i saw Alfred, I was thinking like, is that Iron Man? lol. :)

It's still a lot in a very short time. A LOT.

BvS legs got sniped out from underneath, it will limp to 850+...that might be a while though.

Yeah, the big early shiny number doesn't look great now that it has slowed down so quickly. Though considering the reception, staggering probably wouldn't have been good for the film overall.

It is not a lot for a film with that budget, and coming off a year with 5 billion dollar earners.
