Zootopia has been killing it.

If you had told me earlier this year that Zootopia would end up out grossing Batman V Superman I'd have laughed in your face.

I remember saying once that BvS would be closer to the gross of GoTG than it will to the Avengers, DC fanboys laughed saying it would hit 1 billion even if it was Transformers level bad, don't see them laughing now.

So where will BvS end up among other 2016 movies? I think the top 5 will be:

1) Rogue One or Civil War

2) Rogue One or Civil War

3) Finding Dory

4) Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

5) Zootopia

After that, X-Men, Jungle Book, Doctor Strange, Alice Through the Looking Glass, and Ice Age: Collision Course, might top it and push it out the top 10.

There's also Deadpool, The Witch, 10 Cloverfield lane, probably other surprises as well. Bvs definitely ain't making the top ten

Domestically speaking, BvS is going to finish well north of $300M and that should be good for a top ten finish. Rogue One, Civil War, Dory, Deadpool and Zootopia all look like good bets to beat it. Of the others, maybe one or two will top it but certainly not all of them.

I don’t think Beasts is topping BvS (only HP7-II and maybe HP1 made more). Ice Age doesn’t have a shot (none have topped $200M). Alice (the first hit $334M) and IDR (ID4 did $306M) may top it but I suspect not. XMA and DS look like long shots and I would expect them more in the $200-250M range. Finally, Jungle Book would either need to hugely overshoot current OW expectations or have truly incredible legs to beat BvS.

In the end, I think BvS will finish sixth or seventh domestically for 2016.

Looking at the top 5 list I posted, it's scary that at at least 4 of the top 5 will be Disney movies. And every movie is from a different Disney studio, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar, and Disney Animation. Has any studio company ever been this powerful in history of the entertainment business?

Not to mention movies like Doctor strange, and jungle book which will no doubt be in the top 10.

It hasn't been unusual for Disney to dominate the top domestic grossing films in recent years. Each of the last three years they've had 4 in the top ten (including 3 of the top 4 last year). It is rather cyclical though as Paramount was pretty dominant around 2010/2011 while WB did well in 2013/2014 and Universal killed it last year.

What is much more significant is that only Disney and Universal are seeing significant growth in income. All the other major studios are either seeing big decreases or basically treading water.

Jungle Book is going to finish this thing off.

Dropping 60% from last frame, Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent got closer to the $500M overseas mark with an estimated $34M for a $486.8M international cume. The worldwide total is $783.5M. That takes it into the Top 10 all-time highest global grossing superhero films, now surpassing the lifetime cume of Guardians Of The Galaxy ($773M). Warner Bros’ Zack Snyder-helmed mash-up retains the No. 1 offshore spot overall in the 3rd frame, although next week will see it give that up to The Jungle Book.

One more week till Jungle Book anihiliates BvS' 'legs'.

You make Jungle Book sound like a hitman fulfilling a contract.

Nah. There was no hit. No assassination.

The Boss was like a reckless driver who accidentally crashed into the drunk pedestrian that is BvS, who stumbled onto the freeway. Jungle Book is the doctor who offers to turn the life support off because the pedestrian arrived at the hospital brain dead.

I wonder how much money this would have made if it had real competition this month.

Well The Boss beat it. 53% drop. It'll be lucky if it grosses 20 mill next weekend

Found this on Reddit:

BvS headed to a 1.95-2.05 multiplier. How this stacks up to all other superhero movies and an explanation of why it's important to look past the total gross in the comments.

Not hitting a 2x multiplier is the most damning thing that could happen. I'm certain WB will try things to make sure it hits it, much as how Sony somehow managed to get Spectre across $200 mil after the bluray hit.

Deadline before with an expected take of 925 million said it will likely turn a minimum profit of $207.9M once all revenue streams are accounted. If ending at 850 million, it would be 132 million in profit according to that report.
