What a failure. They should make a docummentary of this.

They should make a documentary about all of Superman's films, including the ones that were proposed but never got off the ground.

I thought they were going to release the 3 hour long ultimate cut in theaters???

Are they still going to do it??

On May 6 maybe???? Hmmm.

They have nothing to lose at that point, at least they can go out swinging and can do some damage.

Put yourself in the shoes of the theatre. You own a theatre and have 10 screens.

1. A 3 hour cut would decrease the number of show times per screen.

2. Playing BvS on 1 screen and making $200 per screen when you could be making more than 20 times as much playing another movie doesn't make any financial sense when you are running a business.

3. You would make more profit replacing BvS with an extended cut of Zootopia. Instead of a 3 hour long cut of BvS.

Doing what you are saying is comparable to Walmart giving shelf space to more Wii U consoles and ordering less PS4s. Supply and Demand 101.

Jon Schnepp made a documentary about one of them,
The Death of Superman Lives,What Happened?

Since we're reliving our past predictions-- I thought the RT meter would land anywhere between 45% and 65%, and I thought no matter what, the floor for the BO was about $1B or $1.2B.

Not really. I say a majority don't like it or could care less for it but a passionate minority makes it seem more even sided, especially in this forum.

The Phantom Menace effect was certainly in play here. Many were in denial about how bad BVS was. And now the kool aid is wearing off.

It really blows my mind why people who hate the movie for one reason or another keep discussing it. How many times must one express their dislike for something before it becomes tiresome? Until the majority stops? Everyone's on the bandwagon so why not, right? I get it, the movie disappointed most, but I wonder; do most of the haters have anything better to do? Honestly, I'm perplexed. You know, as in a job? A girl? Anything? Do any of them like fast cars, women, sports, or something? Jeez, the negativity from this forum lately has nothing been short of toxic. It's always the same thing: Snyder doesn't get the characters; so and so wouldn't do this; this and that was stupid; etc. The same can be said for any other movie, honestly. Viewers perceived the movie a different way, and that's perfectly fine because perception is nothing more than someone's own truth. We are neither wrong nor right for loving or despising the movie. A lot of the comments, however, are nothing more than copied-and-pasted disparaging remarks.

This could easily be turned against those who love the movie and repeatedly express it. So how about we not make negative remarks about a large chunk of our fellow hypesters?

The negativity and backlash is actually more entertaining than the film itself.

Like Robin's battle-axe through someone's face.

OMG!!! Stop picking on the Great Snyder with your hater inaccuracies!!!
IT WAS F@#KING HALBERD!!! JUST LIKE IN TDKR!!!!!!
It makes zero change to context or intent but....Sorry, I wanted to try and channel what liking BvS would feel like.
I just couldn't follow through coherently on a single thought because reality kept intruding. Hang on, maybe I was channelling Zack

Hey Deb. How's Zack doing?

I didn't hate the movie. You have to be genuinely invested and then let down to get to the level of hate and I always had my reservations about this one since Senor Snyder was back for another round of mediocrity after flubbing it with MoS. I did allow myself to have some hope due to Affleck & Terrio's involvement but clearly even THEY weren't saving this one. So again, I didn't hate the movie. I just felt like MoS before it that it was just yet another crappy movie coming down the pike. We get lots of those. No big whoop. I didn't like it and that's about the harshest thing I can say about it.

I am tired of all the negative publicity the DC comic universe is getting. I'm a huge fan of Zack Synder and have enjoyed all of his comic films so far, however I think he is in over his head. His last film did not connect with enough audience members and for the greater good of this franchise he should step down.

I didn't hate or Love BvS, much like another film about superman from 2006. It's just a film that's ok to me.
I suppose that's even worse than loving or hating it..

this is probably one of the worst, most poisonous threads i've ever come across

the DCEU, a £1.5 billion failure for WB

Please feel free not to post in it then. The positive thread may be more your thing.

Yes it is. Indifference is far worse than hatred for any form of art.
It shows the creation failed to make any connection at all.
Of course, after repeated failures, indifference might become the preferred option for a bruised creative ego.

Wow, what a detailed, insightful rebuttal of absolutely nothing said in here.

You will be sorely missed.:sly:

If you seriously wonder this is why:

1. These are more than just movies for fanboys. It's part of our life just like sports.

2. DCEU(or JLU) probably once in a life time event. We don't know how long superhero movies will be top movies on hollywood. 15 years later, it can go back to only Batman and Superman reboots again and not a shared universe. Besides, nobody wants to wait for another reboot. So we expect best movie we can get.(at least good enough)

3. MCU movies (even though i don't like many of them) are on good track. People who love DC characters expect nothing less than that. Now that CW seems good, that's extra motivation to talk about what went wrong about BvS.

4. This was a Titanic of Superhero movies. Batman and Superman in same movie along with WW,Lex, JL cameos and even Doomsday?! ... and it crashed just like Titanic. It's still a big event after it's doomed.

The fact of the matter is that most people weren't disappointed with the movie. Remember, Batman v Superman received a cinemascore of B and cinemareview of 98%, which is very good. most haters are coagulating to this forum to make it seem like most people didn't like the film. If the film was that bad it wouldn't have made over $850 dollars (and counting) at this point in time nor would it have fans reporting of repeat viewings of the film.

You do know B is widely regarded as a terrible Cinemascore, don't you?

The film was entirely mediocre, with several bad creative choices.

So much of this is just false. As pointed out, a B CinemaScore for a superhero flick is considered very, very poor. The film made $850M because it opened to over $400M, a result not of quality but rather marketing, (unfounded) hype, and the powerful brands that are Batman and Superman (and perhaps a little bit due to Wonder Woman). The truly awful legs demonstrate that people did not like it; repeat viewings were obviously not high and personal anecdotes mean little when you look at the numbers.
