Well guys I know from the standpoint of fanboys there were some who were disappointed by trailer three. But when it comes down to it, it is the GA that really matter when it comes to making box office revenue. How do you guys think this trailer will either help or hurt the movie?

My prediction has not change. I'm still expecting 1b at the bear minimum. My enthusiasm for the film has not changed after this new trailer, but it hadn't increase like with the CC trailer. The GA seems to be fully onboard, as this trailer was designed to be more appealing for them. I don't expect the actual film to feel like a Marvel film, as this new trailer suggest.

A mashup of reactions. Some real excitement out there. :woot:

Like I said a few months ago, it'll probably do AoU numbers in terms of OW, domestic, and WW grosses, which will be excellent for almost everybody, but probably not so for WB.

For the general public, I think the latest trailer did a decent job at selling the film as entertaining action. I've seen quite the positive response from the general public. It's just been getting a mixed reaction from the comic book community, as well as some Youtube personalities.

This will make a billion. I do believe that.

I said this in another thread but a lot of these reaction videos in general feel way too over the top in their excitement.

I really enjoy them because it's pretty fun to see someone elses suprise/enjoyment. but I also know that staring blankly at a screen doesn't get views.

I think WB would be ecstatic to get 1.4 billion from this.

I think WB just hopes they can get back into the billion dollar club post-Nolan.

Anything under a billion would be disappointing for WB though as they have so much riding on this film.

March is a perfect release month for this.

Like I said in another thread. I think an Amazing Spiderman 2 reaction is the worst case scenario. By that I mixed to negative reception, makes money but doesn't reach full potential. For those who don't remember Spiderman made around 700 million but a good/great movie could've made 850 million upwards.

In that case I'd imagine Snyder wouldn't be directing JL.

I don't think WB has much to worry about when it comes to the reaction of people whom are clearly going to see the movie now thinking it might not be perfect or they'd rather see spoiler villain used somewhere else or cgi looks unfinished etc, in a trailer clearly designed to exploit the kimmel like GA. What they should be concerned about is just how much chatter and tracking said exploitative trailer elicited with it's meta commentary, and it's at least 2 mega pop culture money shots...
I've really only seen this much chatter at work and online when it comes to star wars.

If it get's the proper world wide release, there is no telling what the upper limit will be. What matters is awareness, and this last trailer really put the stamp down.

I always enjoy your unbiased box office insights. :yay:

Fun fact: #BatmanvSuperman was trending on twitter for 12 straight hours since release.

This trailer may have been mixed with the fanboy community but general audience wise I.E the fans of Jimmy Kimmel really enjoyed this trailer.

So all this trailer did was slightly worry the fans, increase the ego of the trolls and most importantly increased its potential viewers with the public.

thus more box office potential, s at the end of the day it's a win for WB/DC.

Everyone I've showed this to with the exception of one thought it looked great. I really do think we (yes, fanboys and girls) are the ones so upset, as someone said, about minutia.

Definitely agreed.

While not the best trailer of the lot, I certainly feel this Batman v Superman trailer was the smartest trailer WB put out. While it does spoil alot, for the general audience, this will be their first look at the film. Another thing will be, while this trailer somewhat divisive with core fans, as far as SHH is concerned, WB knows that is an audience that for the most part won't resist going to see this film. The GA are those who may sit this one out. However, considering the response of the GA is overwhelmingly positive, this was WB biggest get from the marketing, especially when all of this still made such a mark during a position of coming off the heels of the CW trailer, and the impending release of SW7.

Yeah, this is the trailer millions will see in front of Star Wars, so it makes sense it was cut in such a way as to grab the audience's attention.

Low side, 900/950 mill. High side 1.1/1.2 billion.
Somewhere in the middle I think.

$800m WW range. I think it'll open huge(but no records broken except maybe for biggest March opening ever) and then drop like a stone just as MoS did. Mid-$300m's domestic and around $500m OS.

MoS had two major competitions on its second week which was Monsters University and World War Z and yet MoS made more domestically then every superhero film in both 2013 and 2014 excluding IM3 & GOTG.

BvS has zero competition for 6 weeks add to its easter opening weekend along with the fact that both its oldest trailers surpassed 40 million views each with the latest one getting 10 million views in a day.

This film is guaranteed to pass the billion dollar mark with relative ease even if it's transformers levl bad (which i doubt) so honestly i fail to see how you two think that this film will struggle to surpass the billion dollar mark, pleas pray tell why?

People need to stop thinking a billion $ is a cakewalk. It ain't. Now if the previous movie had made a billion $ or more then I'd be more on board but it only made 2/3 of a billion. But even then it's hard(just ask James Bond).

And the TF franchise is a bad barometer for such things(as is the PotC franchise) as they are critic proof with mucho evidence to support that. Superheroes are held to a bit higher standard.

The lack of competition guarantees 1 billion easy. Fantastic release date. Its a good thing it moved from the packed summer season.

Nobody in their right mind expected a Superman film living off the success of Superman returns to cross a billion dollars at the box office, hell to some extent $600m+ was kind of outstanding for the limitations that film had and trust me it had some serious limitations from heavy competition to audience faith from that franchises predecessor, Man of Steel was basically fighting an uphill battle.

And secondly whether its a superhero film or a transformers film its still a summer blockbuster, made for pure entertainment.

And lastly here in 2015 we've had the miracle of 4 films crossing the billion dollar mark:

Minions: $1.1 billion

Age of Ultron: $ 1.4 billion

Furious 7: $1.5 billion

Jurassic World: $1.6 billion

And Star Wars 7 obviously expected to destroy passed the billion dollar mark and they're all thanks to the growing theatre market in china, even F7 made more in China than it did in the U.S. of $380 million in China and the chinese movie market has been growing rapidly compared to previous years were it only made like $60m for MoS and other cbm films of 2013 and 2014 while back in 2008 a billion dollar film like TDK didnt even open in China at all and it still made that much, now imagine TDK opening this year in 3d and IMAX support? hell even a crappy film like terminator genysis became profitable when it released in China.

So again with all these factors it is in fact easy for BvS to pass the billion dollar mark, i mean look around you, all over the internet the hypes been high as hell since the film was announced two years ago.
