The Dark Knight Batsuit Discussion Thread

Do you like the idea of a new Batsuit in TDK?

  • Yes, I like the idea of a change to a greyish, lighter & more streamlined suit.

  • No, I would rather Batman stay in the black, body armour type suit from BB.

But when he pullled his mask off in Batman Returns the Character of Bruce Wayne didnt have make up on. Sure Keaton used make up around the eyes (like wtf people it's acting, if you wanna take it really deep everyone has make up put on them when there on camera and lights) but the implied belief storywise was Bruce didnt use make up when being Batman. That's the point I'm saying. How can no one not understand this?

I understand it, I think it strengthens my side of the argument. Burton's Batman had much less atmosphere and was much less convincing that of Nolan/Bale. I wouldve thought it better if he HAD had make up on when he took off the mask, since it was so obviously makeup the whole time.

Yeah a climatic scene with make-up around the eyes. That's big notion of atmosphere. :o

Thats my point. We saying WITHIN the story what's the better option but even WITHIN the story world the eyes are needed.

The best thing about that scene was Chris Walken saying "Bruce Wayne. Why are you dressed up like Batman?"

Well I'll be damned, that's the first valid point you've brought up all day, but be sure to note it well because you're not likely to get that lucky again, and had you written a proper sentence...

I can't continue with this thread. SL uses such tortured, demented logic that it gives me a headache just reading it.

Saint your just getting upset because I'm disagreeing with your view and I've said at the core of my argument the white lense idea is forced and others have co-signed it. It's not as ridiculous as you think cause others have said the same. You getting upset at individuals doesnt help your argument.

No, I'm not upset. If I was upset I'd be calling you a variety of crude names. The only thing I am, is tired of your ridiculous notion that Batman does not wear lenses, despite the fact that the comics make it perfectly clear that he does. You seem to think you're a higher authority than the books themselves, which is rather irritating.

I don't care if you think it's "forced," or whatever other irrelevant bulls*it you conjure up. It doesn't matter what you think. The only thing that matters it what is said in the comics, and that is--very clearly--that Batman wears lenses. You are wrong. Stop stumbling around like a fool defending your crumbling position.

Wow....Saint you really dropped the ball there homie. Because I gave reasons why even if the lenses were in the comics, why it still wouldnt work on film.Again I'm saying politley: Read people's post before you start accusing people. I said "ok if the lenses are in the comics, here's why I still think it doesnt work"

And you can pretend to not care what I think but then you why would not dismiss my belief and reasons why I disagree? You know there's other people like Ronny Shade, Two-Face, Brian and Guybrush gave reason why we dont want lenses, so it aint a crumbling position at all. And I explained that calmy why lenses are not needed in the movie and that's why we cross into the comic argument. Surely you would have to agree the white lense look is used on characters who dont have lenses (like the Turltes for instance) so that's why I said early "it's debatable". What's unreasonable and BS about that? Nothing, except you getting bothered. It's pointless dude.

Jesus, now I'm upset. Follow your own advice and READ, you idiot. I have said no less than twice that I am not arguing against or on the behalf of lenses on film--I don't care about that, nor do I care about your reasons for opposing them. I only care about your moronic inability to accept that Batman wears goddamn lenses in the comics.

And you can pretend to not care what I think but then you why would not dismiss my belief and reasons why I disagree?
What the hell? That sentence doesn't make any bloody sense. It's not a matter of caring, it's a matter of your thoughts bein IRRELEVANT, because lenses in the comics are FACT. You keep saying you "think" they're forced and "feel" they don't work, and it's your "opinion" that he doesn't wear them. Get this through your goddamn skull: IT IS NOT A MATTER OF OPINION, IT IS A MATTER OF FACT. IT IS FACT THAT BATMAN WEARS LENSES IN THE COMICS.

Dear God, I'll say this one more time: I have NEVER argued in favour of movies lenses, so quit disagreeing with an argument I never made! My ONLY concern is your foolish, illogical, and moronic insistance contrary to hard evidence that Batman doesn't wear lenses in the comics.

But Saint I just said that my point relates to there use in the movies. Even if they did exist in the comics my reasons were for why they shouldnt be in the movies. I'll be happy to help you out and point this :)

1)The point we had in the thread was that they mentioned that in recent issues the white eyes in Batmans mask are lenses. But even the person who told this to me (I believe it was Dark Knight7) said in previous decades it could have been interpreted that those eyes were just drawings and animated style. So that was my point: Even if in recent years the illustrators and artists said that was the case, it still feels pointless putting them in the movie.

2) I said in all my posts I believe putting white lenses on Batman in the movie feels forced. Like it's director trying TOO much to look like the comics when really characters wearing masks with white holes have never really had that look crossover to live action (and I gave reasons why DD and Spidey would exception). Legitmate, clam case? I think so my friend :)

And I think I've explained what I meant above, so really you were shouting for nothing. I have debated this issue with some great posters here on the thread (shout out to ronny shade, Brian and Dark Knight7 and Luhijo) all have stayed in the thread and seen the course of this discussion go. So if you look back and read then you'll see why we said what we said. And if there's anything that upsets you about what I said (because I shattered some belief comic books conveyed to you). Just calmly bring it up and I'll be happy to explain why I said that. But until there is no point getting up over nothing:) . Remember the main point is: White eyes in the movies? You cant hold a grudge over one thing, which a lot of other people may assume too. :)

Marinate on that pimpin :) My debate game:cool: is so classy

just to be clear:

I'm not anti-lenses on Batman.

I'm anti-lenses on Bale.

this is why he shouldn't wear lenses. it creates too much division amongst the believers!
