*Mods...why does this keep getting closed without reason?! Its a good topic for discussion!*

What iconic piece of Batman history will Nolan decide to remove in Batman 3? Maybe Alfred will decide to retire. Or Batman wont wear a cape...I dont know? What do you think?

I think he should remove that couche from Bruce's penthouse, I mean, it looks SOOOO off :o

Huh? Wayne Manor burned down and was being rebuilt. If you want to get technical, they were only taking a cue straight from Denny O'Neal by putting Bruce in the penthouse of Wayne Enterprises, and I'd bet good money Bruce will be living in Wayne Manor, and back in the batcave if not at the beginning of the sequel, definitely before the end. And the bat signal has been destroyed any number of times in the comics (a couple times by Gordon himself). I get the impression you are trolling for a reaction because you are pissed off they removed those things from TDK. If so, it's a rather lame attempt. Maybe you should try reading a few more comics instead of assuming those iconic parts of Batman's history have always been there, and that the things that happened in TDK haven't been done before. If anything, Nolan has been far more faithful to the comics than any other director has, using elements from any number of stories throughout Batman's 70 year history.

No I just think its WB trusting Nolan and letting him do what he wants. He has been quoted as to not even wanting to give Batman a cape in Begins!

There were perfectly legitimate reasons as to why the mansion and batcave were absent from TDK and the destruction of the bat signal was symbolic of Batman now being viewed as a villain in the eyes of the law.

It's not as if they were completely left out of the scripts.

But you are implying he removed those things from the movie just to do it, instead of just taking a cue from the comic books. The whole movie is littered with comic book references. The Joker's plot was pretty much a modern day adaption of Batman #1, Bruce living in the penthouse of Wayne Enterprises was taken from the 70's comics, Gordon destroying the batsignal could have been a direct reference to about 20 different comics, as was Batman being pursued by the GCPD. Dent's characterization was pretty much straight out of Long Halloween (though they changed how he became Two-Face obviously). Joker's stories about his scars was a reference to the Killing Joke's multiple choice origin. And you could even say the ending was a reference to Year One. If you honestly think Nolan is going to change an important part of Batman's history just to change it, then you haven't been paying attention. Even when he changes stuff it's still in some way rooted in the comic books.
