There's a way to do that without sounding like a jerk. There were a few articles about how he was acting a little more smug with each win and how that could potentially turn-off voters, but I'm too lazy to dredge them up from The Wrap and what have you.

People have issue with him being a bit smug yet there are people advocating for a Batman played by an actor who physically assaulted his wife. Gimme a break!

Is it possible that all this backlash could get out of hand having WB reconsider their decision about Affleck? It's happened before with movie screening test audiences forcing the filmakers to make changes to their films.

Can the same be applied for casting choices, I mean who has the final word in casting?

Someone whose career was nearly tarnished because of Gigli and Daredevil, just to see him rise to the top 10 years later is quite impressive. :yay:

You see, it wasn't just those two films. It was a string of films like:
Forces of Nature
200 Cigarettes
Reindeer Games
Pearl Harbor
The Sum of All Fears
Paycheck
Surviving Christmas
Jersey Girl
He's Just Not That Into You

There was a solid decade of poor choices, critical and commercial disasters. So it's NOT just Gigli and Daredevil that have people worried. But they certainly don't help.

LOl, dat wishful thinking, NO, this is 2013, it's been announced everywhere, Affleck is here to stay.

Many people few Affleck as a bad actor, and that's what I find so funny.

Same thing had happened years earlier with Michael Keaton, did it not? People petitioned (like they're doing now) and wrote hate mail to the studio in order to have the role recasted.

It didn't work and look what happened, Keaton OWNED the role.

When people focus on the bad movies he's been in, they should also focus on the GOOD movies he's been in:

-Dazed and Confused
-Mallrats
-Chasing Amy
-Going All The Way
-Good Will Hunting
-Shakespeare in Love
-Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
-Sum of All Fears
-Hollywoodland
-Phantoms

Sigh, fanboys are all the same.

By the way, for those hating on Daredevil, PLEASE watch the Director's Cut.

Are you talking about Bale? Never heard about that. I know he got into a huge argument with his mom and sister because they trash talked his wife in front of him.

I doubt it. The contract's been signed. I highly doubt the raging on social media will have them be too worried.

Even if one million people sign every petition to kick him off the film. Warner Brothers and Snyder won't even consider it. Why? Because they know that every person signing that petition will go and see the film anyway. It doesn't matter who is cast as Batman. Hell if Rupert Grint was cast as him people would still go and see the film.

+1000, and also because they're probably very confident that Affleck will deliver and will silence the haters.

and now he's on a winning streak. but lets just count whatever fits the agenda shall we.

This. All they see is free publicist, public interest being generated and a potential for a huge box office. So, like it or not, Affleck is Batman.

You missed The Company Men too, one of his best performances.

All this flack for Batfleck in a Bat flick...

Half of the flack is ben the other half is people who are holding on to that recent nolan success. The GA loved that stuff.

Don't remember the last time an casting had that much inverted good will against it. Not until the RDJ replacement.

The GA probably just assumed like marvel, the DCU started with TDK lol.

I can't imagine how the internet would have been if it existed when Keaton was announced. A reaction of catastrophic proportions would be extremely understating it. This will pass. Once people see the first pic of him in the suit they will begin to change their tune. When they see the trailer, they will declare it one of the best movies ever. Then when they actually see the movie they will declare it one of the worst movies ever. Such is the circle of fanboyism. :o

Weird choice tbh. He's a very average actor who can't do anything other than 'Ben Affleck'. If they had Affleck directing, then great. But his actor-artist is very limited, very predictable.

Regardless of castingchoice, I'd have preferred a younger actor, perhaps 33 or so and who has been Batman for about 5 years. So no rookie, but still young. Superman in MoS was 33 of course, though he came across as a younger guy - no older than 28. They only chose 33 due to some inane and obtuse Jesus Christ parallel they were trying to make.

I don't agree with the idea of Batman in a mentor role. I don't want Superman to be too earnest. The notion of a competitive rivalry suits the dynamic of these characters more, until they become a great unit.

I thought he was good in He's Just Not That Into You. The movie was meh but I thought I liked his storyline.

A petition to remove an actor from a movie.

I'd understand and be sympathetic if they cast someone like Bieber, but Affleck? The guy is legit. He's dedicated. He's proven.

I wonder how people would have reacted had they judged Bale's casting on the quality of all films he's been in. Did anybody see Newsies???? :p

People signing that petition and getting worked up need to chill out a little, IMO.

The age of instantaneous news delivery - a boon and blight for discussion and speculation.

Pearl Harbor? - I thought he was great in that film
I also said he starred in a long series of critical and COMMERCIAL failures. Meaning, they bombed at the box office. Or did ok financially, but no one really liked them.

And then there's a few in which, they were bad, he was bad, and they did bad at the box office.

Things go in waves. For a solid decade he was striking out. In the past couple of years he's earned goodwill back for his work mostly BEHIND the camera. Yes, he's on a winning/hot streak. But not entirely for his acting.

Therein lies the difference.

Even if they cast Bieber I wouldn't sign a petition. That's just stupid. I wouldn't go see the movie, but I wouldn't sign a petition.

Affleck was the BOMB in Phantoms, yo!

Josh Brolin

OH! I totally forgot about that. I hated the Josh Brolin rumor.
He would have been ok as Gordon, I guess? IDK. He's better in weird character actor part that hide his good looks and let him be wild.
