Birds of Prey BoP Box Office Thread

Reeves might just kill Batman in his third movie, which may very well get released 7 or 8 years after his first Battinson movie.

Even if he doesn't kill Batman, I doubt he would be open to having other superpowered heroes run around.

Yeah, I don't expect to ever see Freeze again in a live action Batman.

As for BOP, looks like for now, DC Films have returned to a familiar destination, THE FLOPHOUSE!

Is Reeves going to have Batman fight talking, intelligent apes instead?

I don't know, I just wouldn't assume any of that about his take.

I know that MOS and BvS were slight financial disappointments and certainly struggled critically (SS also had poor reviews). However, I don't think any of the DC films thus far could be considered genuine flops, and there seems to be a more successes than so-called failures overall.

Yeah, I got several relatives asking if Shazam was a spoof/parody.

Well, there it is.

That's why I'm saying these newcomer directors shouldn't be given that much free reign, let them craft the stories and their movies, but help them with things like costumes, aesthetic and making sure they are appealing to the demographic that the movie is gonna attract.

Basically like the MCU method where something like "Final Cut" doesn't exist and "auteur" is probably a dirty word :o

Only JL so far can be considered a flop, but that guy is just doing a bad job at trollin. Digital sales also help out, Sandberg on reddit said how the digital sales for Shazam helped the movie, as the studio gets a bigger chunk of those sales. Shazam did around an extra 30 million on digital.

Well, I guess that will change by the end of the weekend.

Trolling attempt noted, and ah yes, JL. I forgot it because I've tried to erase it from my memory. That's great news about Shazam! too.

I am actually looking forward to the sequel to Shazam as well as the Suicide Squad.
I am sure that Gunn will deliver something special.

For the record, nothing against Cathy Yan her nut, I do think too much creative control was given to Margot Robie.

I genuinely think the costumes were a huge issue for this one. They turned a lot of people off.
So sad to see how this film is doing. It was really, really good.

I enjoyed it more than 90% of the MCU

This has way more rewatch value than a lot of recent cbms for me too. I will watch this again over either DP flicks.

I enjoyed this a tonne and hope there can be some kind of recovery in the box office numbers if others enjoyed it as much.

Deadline claims that the marketing people didn't have enough to work with by SDCC which is why the campaign was delayed.

Well she did partially fund the movie along with finding the writer and director.

I genuinely think that as long as The Suicide Squad has good character designs (especially with Harley) it'll be fine and Harley will be gigantic pop culture wise again.

Don't understimate the importance of good designs and costumes. They're essential. Heck, in the comics they just debuted Joker's new girlfriend and I've seen that most people (including me) seem to be curious about her because her design is pretty cool.

I kinda agree, I don’t know why Margot was given the freedom she was. At the very least they should have had a bit more control over who was cast, try and attract bigger names. I can only assume WB thought she was a big enough draw that it didn’t really matter who else was cast.
