I genuinely think the costumes were a huge issue for this one. They turned a lot of people off.
So sad to see how this film is doing. It was really, really good.

I enjoyed it more than 90% of the MCU

The costumes could have added a lot. I hope we get them down the road. I think a lot of people who won't see this would have liked it. It is a shame that they couldn't quite convey the fun of the film in the trailers.

I feel like they're trying to get their own Ryan Reynolds with her. Handling a crazy ass character, doing a lot of promo for said character, producing and handling **** behind the scenes, etc.

Well, maybe they shouldn't treat Harley like Deadpool.
They should treat her like Rocket. A fun character that attracts attention in a really big budget, very large ensemble that comes out in the summer.

This has way more rewatch value than a lot of recent cbms for me too. I will watch this again over either DP flicks.

It’s way better than both. Deadpool had such a good marketing campaign though.

tbh Margot’s Harley voice works in context, but in short snippets it sounds really stupid. The trailers made her accent sound awful because it takes a second to get used to the voice she used.

The real charm of this movie was the performances and writing.

They should’ve just released an entire scene online like Deadpool did to get people to see what the tone really is.

Also stars an all-female ensemble, it opened at 41 million but it's rated PG 13, also has a B+ cinemascore, made with a budget of 70 million, also by WB.

If it has the same legs that movie had, how much should it make?

Outside of Margot, the rest of the actresses ain't known by name by the GA.

Ocean's 8 had Bullock, Blanchett, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, HBC.

BoP has MOST of what's left of this month to itself, hopefully it will pick up. Eh.

I want the trades to do a write up on this bombing. We all knew the marketing was bad, it was obvious. There were people that were trying to be positive, let’s just be real though. It was an objectively poor marketing campaign.

When I was your age not only did I have school and sports but also a job and I still made time to socialize. I want the best for you son. You need to get out more. I'm going out to the lake tomorrow. If you want to come catch some Bluegill your very welcome as I don't want you to catch computer burn.

Son: Ok... Fine. Can I have money to go out to the skating rink too?

Mom (cuts in): I can drive you over next weekend but I'll need to bring your little sister along.

Son: Can I also have some money to play on the arcade machines at the skating rink?

Mom and Dad: Fine but no computer for the rest of the month.

Interesting tidbit from Deadline -

The initial cut was received poorly so Hamada did all he could to make it to what I saw, which was well received critically and by the audiences.

And ya, thus the lack of time to get the marketing going

But these could be WB’s guys telling Deadline lol, who knows.

But the positive news is that after Friday the male/female split is 51/49, from around 58/42 I think, so female the demo that’s suppose to support this the most is starting to show up and they will boost the legs

And Valentine’s Day/weekend will help too, I wonder if they should have released it next weekend, I think Deadpool was out on Valentine week?

So maybe 35+ dom and 40+ including tues-thurs Os to get to 75+ and hope for the legs and wom this month.

We just had Joker making a billion and about to win an Oscar for actor, and WW84 is just around the corner, the narrative is gonna be “WW saves DC again and DC is finally on the right track”

This is giving me the vibe from 2016 - SS had a big second weekend drop, and a bunch of people panicked or laughed at it, but from there it held well for the rest of the run. BOP has Feb to itself really and way better critical and audience reception than SS, and likely more female demo now so that will help the legs

I feel that this movie would have done well had WB released it after James Gunn's The Suicide Squad (I'm assuming it will be successful) as Harley plays important role in it.

I would make that Harley Ivy film now so it releases in close proximity of TSS to capitalize, its a gamble but it’s a better bet than releasing the HQ film 4 years after SS, that’s way too long for teenage fans, they might grew out of it lol

I don't think Gotham City Sirens is happening because:
A) With these numbers there's zero way in hell they force Matt Reeves to connect the worlds to put Kravitz Selina there.
B) With these numbers there's zero way in hell they allow Margot to cast her own Selina.
C) With these numbers there's zero way in hell they'll greenlit another girl gang movie.

And if I had to guess, the access to Ivy is gonna go to Matt Reeves for his Batman trilogy if he wants to use her at some point. So no Harley + Ivy as well.

Agreed. And personally I’m fine with that. I think a character like Batman needs one vision/direction, and that includes where said character’s supporting cast is concerned in regards to spin off movies.
